Reincarnated With a SSS-Rank Hypnosis Skill in Another World-Chapter 13 - Not Good Enough
Chapter 13 - 13 - Not Good Enough
"You've already made this mistake, Jake. Why do you keep doing the same thing over and over again?" Elena said with a sigh as she looked in my direction with pity in her eyes. "Utilize your four affinities. You have an advantage over others; you need to use it."
I just shook my head.
I had already told her that I couldn't use any other affinities. But she simply wouldn't hear me; she didn't want to. Right now, the only spell that I was able to use was [Fireball], the most basic spell related to the Fire Affinity.
I knew that I was lacking. Ever since we had started dueling one hour ago, I had not even come close to landing a single [Fireball] on her body.
I had no choice but to ask her the hard question.
"How far do you think I can go in the tournament?"
She just sighed. "Not far enough, especially if you fight against another mage. If you're up against a physical fighter, you have a chance, and even then, your casting speed is far too low. You need to be faster."
I clicked my tongue.
I already knew that I was lacking. But I simply didn't have enough time to improve. The only way for me to ever catch up to everyone else would be to magically gain access to the past owner of this body. But as far as I knew, there weren't any signs indicating that as a possibility.
"Is there anything I can do to become stronger and faster?" I asked, starting to feel lost. There was no doubt that finishing in the Top 128 of the Entrance Test Tournament would be quite the task.
"You need to start acting like your own self and use everything at your disposal. That's the only option. Dueling against you right now is almost useless. There is almost nothing that you can do against me."
I bit my inner cheek, annoyed.
I knew that she was right. I had no choice but to try and learn another affinity or two. Otherwise, my spells would simply be far too weak.
But then, a metallic noise resounded in my ear.
-Ding!
[You have received a Mission from an Unknown God.]
[He takes pity on you as you try your hardest to succeed in this new life of yours. He decides to help you.]
[Quest - Land a Spell]
[Quest Difficulty: D]
[Quest Description: Land a Spell on a Non-Hypnotized Elena.]
[Quest Reward: Ancient Knowledge Regarding Magic and Mana.]
I immediately found myself frowning as I turned around and had already begun walking away from the training grounds. I tried to understand the message that appeared before me. The first thing that made me frown was the fact that it was a "God" who had helped me and not a Goddess like the one who had given me access to this new life.
The second thing that made my eyes widen from shock was the reward. It was a little vague. But I had a strong feeling that ancient knowledge about magic would be bound to be useful. There was even a chance that I would be able to learn magic in a completely different way than everyone else in this world.
There wasn't even any hesitation in my mind. I knew that there was only one thing remaining for me to do.
Land a Spell on Elena.
The God had even specified that she couldn't be hypnotized, which made things a little harder since asking her to be hit by a Fireball wasn't really the easiest thing in the world.
However, there was one thing that the God had not anticipated. It was this short moment where the hypnotized would feel pain once the spell was released.
Without saying another word, my back still turned away from Elena, I formed a small Fireball inside my hand, making sure that she could not see it from her position. Then, at once, I turned and launched it in her direction as her eyes widened. But just as she was about to react, I released the spell, making her freeze in place as only her pupils followed the Fireball as it grazed her right arm, leaving a burn.
[Congrats! You have completed the Quest by an Unknown God.]
[Your reward will be given to you once you are alone and in a secure location.]
I celebrated in the back of my mind as she looked at me as if I was absolutely crazy.
"Why are we here?"
"Why are you attacking me?"
"Sorry, I didn't mean to! I didn't think you would lose your focus at this very moment."
Elena just frowned as she continued to shake her head. She had no idea how she had even arrived at the training grounds.
And then, something that I had never thought possible happened.
Her Loyalty went down.
[Elena's Loyalty has decreased: 60 -> 58]

[Elena's POV]
Something is strange.
Ever since I met him, my mind has been messed up. It's as if hours of the day pass by without me even realizing it.
However, even then, I don't feel anything strange from him.
He doesn't look like he's trying to harm me.
In fact, most of the thoughts I have about him are definitely strange. I keep looking at him with lust, something that has never happened to me before.
I know it's far-fetched, but it almost makes me think that he had made me drink a Love Potion without my knowledge.
I frowned as I looked around myself. I was inside the training grounds. I had no recollection of even coming here, and here I was, dressed in a tight mini skirt and an ample shirt, dueling Jake.
'Why can't I remember? What's happening to me?' I thought with a frown.
There was almost no doubt in the back of my mind.
The loss of my memories, the strange thoughts, the lust.
All those things had begun to appear the moment I met him and spent time with him.
'Is Jake really the one doing all this to me?' I thought, hoping deep down that wasn't the case.
