Reincarnated With a SSS-Rank Hypnosis Skill in Another World-Chapter 30 - Talking With a God
Chapter 30: Chapter 30 - Talking With a God
I accepted.
And here I was, in some strange, multidimensional portal moving at speeds I never thought possible in the first place.
I was trying to calm myself down.
I would be meeting with a God. I had done it before, but even then, I felt a lot of pressure, especially since I had no idea why he needed to have a talk with me... in person. He could have simply sent me messages through the system, but he had decided against it. There was definitely something at play here.
Something that I needed to be careful of. I needed to make sure that I wouldn’t be tricked.
Seconds passed, and after a few deep breaths, I stopped in my tracks.
I had arrived at the God’s home.
A large island, an unending one, floating in a sky of stars in the middle of seemingly nowhere.
There was nothing on it.
Only a lonesome man sitting by the edge of the land, his feet dangling into nothingness. There was no doubt about it; it was the God who had called for me.
I could not see his face yet, but standing behind him, I realized that he didn’t look that different from a human in terms of morphology.
He had two arms, two legs. The only clear change was the color of his skin, which was silver or rather gray, not reflecting any of the light coming from the stars.
Then his head turned in my direction, and his face was revealed.
And that’s when it became clear that he was nothing like a human.
His eyes were black, all of it with a single red dot acting as his pupil in the middle of it. It was honestly scary. He stared dead into my eyes, almost sending shivers down my spine without even uttering a word.
His body looked feeble, devoid of any muscles, almost as if it were decaying in real time, which was definitely unheard of for a being who had supposedly reached the peak of what a being can achieve.
But then he finally opened his mouth, breaking the silence that had instilled itself.
"Welcome to my world, human."
The words came out of his mouth slowly, carefully.
"My name is Axel. I’m the God of Poison."
"Poison?" I asked with a frown.
That wasn’t exactly the God I was looking for. Nevertheless, I kept that judgment to myself. Antagonizing a God was the last thing I wanted to do, unless it was that Goddess who had sent me, throwing me into this world as if I were some piece of trash that she needed to dispose of.
"Yes, poison."
Still, I had to admit that his appearance suddenly made a lot more sense.
"You must be wondering why I called you here."
I slowly nodded under his gaze.
"It’s quite simple. I wanted to have a chat with you and also... help you."
"I see... thank y—"
He smirked as he turned his back once more, looking into the distance, into nothingness.
"Don’t thank me just yet. You haven’t heard why I want you to help me."
I stayed quiet as I let him speak.
"The first reason is actually simple. I’ve taken a liking to you. Watching you from above. You’re different from most. She had told me about it, but I confirmed it myself, and... I have to admit that the path you are taking is very different from what your predecessors took."
And that’s when it hit me. Something I had completely forgotten about.
I wasn’t the first one who had been sent to this world. There had been others before me.
"Can I ask you a question?"
The God smiled. "Yes, she also comes from another world, just like you."
He had read my mind, answering my question before I could even pronounce it.
It was honestly kind of scary but cool at the same time.
"She has chosen a different path from you. One of complete destruction of everything in her path. One where she will destroy everything in her way to become as powerful as possible. And that’s also another reason why I want to help you."
I frowned, unsure of what he meant.
"I don’t like this way of fighting. I don’t like this way of living. I prefer yours. One where you use others, you use everything at your disposal. One where you will plant seeds of control in the minds of many, activating them at the right time. A bit like I did with my poison... a long time ago, before becoming a God."
As I continued hearing him speak, I had to admit that this was a lot more easygoing than I had believed.
He talked to me as if I were an equal. It was definitely different from what I had expected.
"Anyway, we’ve wasted enough time already. It’s time for you to learn what you will have to do in exchange for the power to defeat that girl."
I gulped. I could feel my whole body tense up. I had no idea what he would ask. But I also knew that power never came without a price, and this one would be a hefty one. freewēbnoveℓ.com
"Actually, my power itself will be free. However, by obtaining it, you will die. Your body will decay over time unless... you kill others and harness their life."
My eyes widened.
"At least, that’s what you will have to do at first if you want to survive until you are able to control the power."
"How often will I have to kill? And do I only have to kill humans?"
He shook his head. "You can also kill animals. But the effect will be much lesser. Completely incomparable."
"What’s the power?"
"My power. The one that helped me reach Godhood. I will give you a portion of my physique. The Poison Physique. Everything you touch will rot. Your own body will rot. You will become poison to everything you know."
That... honestly... didn’t seem that interesting.
I looked at the God of Poison, and I had to admit that he did not seem to be lying.
He was alone.
Alone on this unending land.
Was that a path I wanted to take even if it meant winning?
