Reincarnated With a SSS-Rank Hypnosis Skill in Another World-Chapter 43 - New Dagger Technique
"Are you..." I took a deep, exhausted breath, barely able to even look her in the eyes. "Sure that this is going to work?"
We had been at this for literal hours. It was the middle of the night, and I still hadn’t managed to completely understand this dagger technique. I had succeeded in using it before, but I wasn’t good at it.
The difference in skill between myself and Lady Seraphina was massive, without a doubt. So big that I could hardly believe she was spending time teaching me.
But then, as I was thinking about whether to puke on the floor or lose consciousness, I felt her hand rest on my back.
"Don’t worry... everything will be just fine," she whispered in my right ear, her body slightly leaning closer to mine.
It felt soft and peaceful. The way she touched me calmed me down almost instantly, sending a certain serenity through my body in a split second.
And then, within a minute, I was no longer exhausted. I was rejuvenated.
I could hardly believe it. I finally opened my eyes correctly, and what I saw next blew my mind.
Before me was a crater that spanned around the entirety of the training grounds. I hadn’t heard it, I hadn’t seen it; I had no clear idea of what had happened just then, but I quickly did. There was only one person who could have done such a thing.
It was me.
I tried to look into Seraphina’s eyes, but she was just looking at it with a bright smile.
"See? I told you everything would be fine."
With only a dagger, I had managed to create a crater so big that none of my opponents would be able to escape it. Even with blink and that dwarven armor, well, it would be getting shredded to pieces.
"Remember what I told you. Your next opponent is not powerful. He simply relies on artifacts and items to give this illusion of power. But in reality, he’s nothing impressive. The moment he meets someone powerful enough to shred his armor to pieces, he will lose right away."
I nodded. Though a small worry instilled itself in the back of my mind.
"Wouldn’t this kill him, though?"
She shrugged. "I don’t think so, and even if it did, it’s none of my problems."
I slowly nodded. She was right. It was none of my problems; I just had to win and win again. Nothing else should be going through my mind, not right now.
"What about that black-haired girl? Do you think I can beat her?"
Seraphina shook her head again. "The only way for you to beat her at this point is if someone from the outside would be willing to help you. Somebody very important and powerful."
I stared at her with a growing smirk, but she stopped me right there.
"I’m sorry, but I won’t interfere in such trivial matters. I don’t want to become an enemy of the King."
But when she uttered those very words, I realized that I hadn’t been using my Hypnosis Skill that much lately. I needed to make use of it. It was my strongest power, something that made it possible for me to control everyone who held the slightest amount of loyalty toward me.
And there was another person who fit Seraphina’s description very well. A woman whose loyalty toward me was extremely high.
Elena.
It was finally time to make use of this skill of mine to do something else besides charming women. It was time to use it to gain an advantage in the competition.
I had the plan mapped out in my head already. I only needed to tell her about it, and everything would then go on to be very, very smooth.
The next day was a peaceful one.
I was confident in my victory, especially after seeing the result of my new dagger technique last night.
I entered the green bracelet area, and that’s where I saw the usual group of people.
The cold beauty, the spear user, the black-haired woman, and my "fan."
Surprisingly, my fan had managed to make it out of the first rounds and had made it all the way here. He kept saying how lucky he was, but I thought that he wasn’t exactly telling the truth. His family was extremely rich; they might have paid off people to give him easy pairings.
And they might have done such a thing without ever telling him about it. Because as far as I knew, that man right there was really, fucking stupid.
"Are you ready today?" Alena asked with her usual look devoid of any emotions.
I briefly nodded. "Should be fine."
"Are we finally going to see you use some real magic?"
That was a recurrent theme around here. They all despised me for using a dagger as my main strength and source of power. They despised it because they believed that I could do so much more without it.
"Hm..." I acted like I was hesitating. "Probably not; I’ll keep that as a surprise later, won’t I?"
But then, just as my name was being called to go into my fight of the day, the black-haired girl, who had never uttered a single word since I had ever met her, slowly opened her mouth.
"Why are you lying?" she weakly muttered under her breath, barely anyone able to catch the words she had just said.
"What did you say?" I asked her.
"Why aren’t you telling the truth? You can only use those two spells, [Blink] and [Fireball]. That’s why you use a dagger. There is no other reason."
My eyes widened. ’How does she know that?’
But that’s when I realized that she could also probably see my stats and everything about me with a glance.
Because just like me, she was also an otherworlder.
I walked in silence as I neither denied nor confirmed her claims.
However, one thing was sure: my secret had been revealed. Something that I had been trying very hard to keep mysterious to always make my future opponents doubt.
But it seemed that had been all for nothing.
