Reincarnated With The Van Helsing System-Chapter 722: Challenges, Badr’s version (part 2)

In a matter of seconds, the roles had inverted and the two nethereals who had to look up to Badr, were now "taller" than him, when one includes their battle avatars at least.

With a "swoosh" those guys flashed from their previous positions, though their overall size increased, they didn’t become slower, in fact their speed also increased and so did their strength.

The spear wielding nethereal slashed at Badr who used the totality of the gate of protection to block the attack, after recombining the dozens of palm sized small black walls, the tall scarred nethereal expanded the wall to around fiteen meters of size which was enough to block the blade of the spear.

While the gate of protection held up without cracking or anything, Badr was pushed back a couple of steps and that wasn’t all, the hammer wielding nethereal used that small opening to appear next to Badr with the intention of turning him into a bloody mess with his large Warhammer.

"Clang!", the hammer however was met with a second black wall.

"Gate of Protection", said Badr as he extended his arms to bounce back the attacks he was blocking, forcing those two to retreat.

"Tsk, I thought he was unable to use more than one of those walls at the time, given how damn strong their defense is", said the spear wielding nethereal.

That sounded like a reasonable restriction, Badr was using just a technique to block real magic weapons, not to mention to bounce back martial arts after all, and that was actually the case... until not too long ago.

Badr could manipulate the gate of protection the way he wanted given his master over said technique, but he could only make one at the time because of his weakened state, he was focusing in increasing his vitality to recover for that same reason.

And just like Lyn, he has recovered enough to use another one of his arms, in other words he could use two gate techniques simultaneously now, speaking of which, with a wave of his hand, Badr made one of the walls shrink to then position it in front of his left shoulder.

"Siege Ram Step", with a few words, Badr’s body exploded in black energy before he turned into a meteor that shot itself towards the spear wielding nethereal, naturally being empowered by his battle avatar, the enemy directly aimed to pierce Badr with his spear.

"Boooom!", the spear and the black wall violently collided the next second, resulting in an energy and battle aura explosion, which ultimately led to the tip of the battle aura condensed spear to crack, just in time for the hammer wielding nethereal to interfere with his own weapon, which Badr dodged by flashing to the side, not before sending the spear wielding nethereal flying backwards due to the impact.

’That fool, a spear is not meant to block heavy blunt attacks with its tip’, cursed the hammer wielding to his insides, but before he could say something, his companion had already advanced to the next step of their plan, in other words using martial arts through their battle avatars.

"Blood Steel Piercing Flash!", the grip on the weapon of the spear wielding nethereal’s battle avatar tightened as a large amount of battle aura was channeled into it before the enemy threw his arm backwards to then throw the spear towards Badr.

Just like the name of the martial art stated, the battle aura condensed spear turned into a dark grey stream of light that flashed towards the tall scarred nethereal who in response stacked the two gates of protection which he had used before, in front of him.

"Crack!", the enemy’s martial art pierced through the first wall instantly, however it was stopped on the second one, before being sent the way it came not without the second wall being destroyed as well.

"Where the hell are aiming that!", shouted the spear wielding nethereal who had flashed from his previous position, timing his appearance to the moment when his martial art was bounced back, so that the redirected attack would hit nothing.

Of curse that wasn’t all, the right hand of his battle avatar had formed a fist with which he was punching at Badr.

"Clang!", an attack that Badr met head on with his own punch, which to the spear wielding nethereal’s surprise stopped his battle avatar’s fist in cold, producing sparks and the sound of metals colliding.

"What!", the spear wielding nethereal wasn’t surprised that the enemy could block his punch, but because Badr’s fist broke through the fist of his battle avatar, which in other words means that his bare body is tougher than his battle avatar’s one.

Which is not something to look down upon, one must know that the aura that conforms a battle avatar is not the same as the one used for martial arts and the like, it’s the combination of a knight’s aura and his "will" which is why a battle avatar by default takes the shape of its user.

Of course, a knight can change its shape with martial arts or simply, however only skilled knights can do it without weakening the structure of their battle avatars and then only the most talented ones can increase their power and keep its solidness without the help of a martial art, for example the Lamia queen whose battle avatar not only can fight without she controlling it, but it becomes actually stronger by changing to lamia form.

That being said and while the spear wielding nethereal was cursing to his insides, he had learned his lesson which is why he had already prepared his next move previously.

While still clashing fists with Badr, the spear wielding nethereal extended the left arm of his battle avatar upwards and the spear he had thrown earlier, which was returned his way actually came flying just in time for the spear wielding nethereal to grab it and thrust it towards Badr.

"Gate of Protection", unfortunately for the spear wielding nethereal, while his maneuver was not bad, he was not fast enough for Badr to be unable to react, which is why the hammer wielding nethereal appeared alongside the spear to assist.

"Bone Crushing Rock Warhammer Descend!", the sudden large shadow that covered Badr was intercepted by a black wall which appeared at the same time as the one that got in the way of the incoming spear.

"Boooom!", when the spear and the hammer landed on the gate of protection a thunderous explosion engulfed the vicinity, before those two flashed away in order to avoid the bounced back attacks which dispersed the veil of dust that resulted from the previous explosion.

"Damn it, so he can create the two walls with a single casting and even manipulate the timing in between", cursed the spear wielding nethereal to which the hammer wielding one asked.

"Forget about that, why the hell did you charge in by yourself Dan?".

"He charged at me all of a sudden of course I had to answer in kind, besides we learned something new about his defensive technique", retorted the spear wielding nethereal.

"The problem is that you also revealed our specialty to him, without even discussing it before doing so, so we ultimately gained nothing over him", added the hammer wielding nethereal.

The "specialty" the hammer wielding nethereal was talking about is the ability they have to manipulate the battle aura creations they manifested at distance, these two had been training in that for a long time and that was supposed to be used to secure landing an attack on Badr, but the spear wielding nethereal went ahead and revealed it just to prove that he could fight against Badr on his own.

Why was the previous supposed to be a surprise you wonder, well, normally knights that fight with close range weapons focus in increasing the weight or the sharpness of their battle aura yet these two trained in control at distance which is instead what archer, crossbow, knife and other throwing weapons user type knights would do.

"It’s not that big of a revelation, but I guess that explains why even with your battle avatars, your martial arts can’t outright destroy the fate of protection, especially that guy, whose battle avatar is not even as solid as my fists", said Badr as if he wanted to get back the attention of the enemies who had started arguing between themselves.

’Screw it, since the cat is out of the bag, it’s better to play along instead of letting that guy take the lead’, thought the hammer wielding nethereal as he saw his friend trembling due to anger to then say in a voice that only his companion could hear.

’I’ll be the vanguard, you cover me and we end with a dual charge’, before the spear wielding nethereal could complain, the hammer wielding one was gone.

"Bone Crushing Rush!", appearing at Badr’s left, the hammer wielding nethereal swung his hammer at Badr, but midway he condensed a second one and without adding a martial art also attacked Badr.

"Crack!", both attacks were blocked by the black walls, which bounced back the hammers sending them flying, opening the path for the hammer wielding nethereal to follow up with his own fist.

"Clang!", Badr answered with a punch of his own and unlike what happened with the spear wielding nethereal, this time there was no winner, the fists collided but neither Badr was hurt nor did the enemy’s battle avatar suffered damage.

"Blood Steel Piercing Barrage!", and now it was time for what should have originally happened, which is one of those two keeping Badr occupied so that the other could land the hit, in this case the spear wielding nethereal condensed a dozen of battle aura spears which he then threw towards Badr.

The hammer wielding nethereal of course had to move out of the way because though his companion could somewhat alter the trajectory of the spears, his battle avatar is too big, so it was on the way.

"Bone Crushing Rush!", with a loud shout, his body exploded in battle aura as he flashed away, but then he saw Badr following him.

’Fool, do you think you can block the attacks that are following you by hiding behind of me’, though the scarred tall nethereal managed to dodge the first charge of the spears, Dan, in other words the spear wielding nethereal beckoned with his hands and the spears abruptly changed directions to track down Badr who in response made two walls appear in order to protect himself.

"Booooom!", a couple of the spears landed on the gates of protection destroying themselves due to the impact, while also doing the same to the gates, which made the hammer wielding nethereal smile for a second, before a sensation of unease invaded him.

The reason being that he didn’t see nor hear any explosion caused by the remaining spears landing on Badr.

"Agh!", the nethereal’s train of thought was stopped as a strong impact made him fly into the distance, to then crash into the ground.

"Lyle!", the spear wielding nethereal immediately flew towards his companion who after a few seconds of silence came out from within the small mountain of debris in which he ended due to the impact, his battle avatar was missing big chunks of its body and the hammer wielding nethereal had blood at the corner of his mouth, he wasn’t badly hurt but that indeed hurt.

"What are you doing you fool!", exclaimed the hammer wielding nethereal as he saw the remains of his companion’s battle aura on the destroyed parts of his battle avatar, what made him eat dirt were the spears thrown by Dan which somehow ended up landing on him instead of on Badr. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"It wasn’t me, when the first couple of spears landed on him creating the energy cloud due to the impact, I lost control over the other spears, I tried to warn you but the explosion was too loud", said the spear wielding nethereal as he raised his hands to claim innocence over the previous.

"Damn it, change of plans then, no more attacks from distance, charge alongside me", said the hammer wielding nethereal, while he didn’t believe that his companion had betrayed him, otherwise he wouldn’t have wasted the chance to kill him, he also didn’t want to leave his back open like that again.

"That’s what I wanted from the start", said the spear wielding nethereal, as he extended both arms of his battle avatar to then condense an spear to wield with each one of his hands, the hammer wielding nethereal did the same, but with hammers of course.

Then as soon as they saw Badr’s figure which was coming out of the energy cloud which was dispersing by itself, they charged at him.

"Gate of Protection", of course the scarred tall nethereal defended himself, blocking the first spear and the first hammer coming his way.

"Crack!", the spear and the hammer landed on the black energy walls to then be sent flying due to the backslash, however the second pair of spear and hammer came in right away, and the weakened gates of protection were destroyed on the spot.

"Let’s see you block us this time you bastard!", shouted the spear wielding nethereal as he punched with his right fist at the same time as his companion towards the now shield-less Badr, who of course met their punches with his own.

"Clang!", like before the punches were blocked by Badr using his fists, however since he was now clashing against both enemies at the same time, he was forced backwards, but that’s not what’s important but the second pair of punches that were coming right now.

Or that would have been the case if the hammer wielding nethereal wouldn’t have... punched Dan’s battle avatar on the chest.

"Agh!", the spear wielding nethereal was smacked against the ground as his battle avatar was sent flying, like previously stated, the hammer wielding nethereal had a way tougher battle avatar than Dan, so the fist pierced through the battle avatar’s chest though lightly, directly hit the spear wielding nethereal who was now also bleeding due to the impact.

"Hey, I already told you that I didn’t attack you damn it, what was that for!", exclaimed the spear wielding nethereal as he got up to reunite with Lyle who after seeing Dan being sent flying, retreated to regroup.

"I honestly thought that you had screwed up while controlling the spears earlier, but now I believe you, I suddenly lost control over the arm of by battle avatar, what’s more while it is true that my battle avatar has solider construction than yours, it’s not to the point where a punch would pierce a hole through the most protected area of your battle avatar without a martial art", said the hammer wielding nethereal to calm down his companion.

The spear wielding nethereal frowned but he ultimately nodded, in part because he also didn’t believe that Lyle had betrayed him and didn’t use the chance to kill him and also because denying his affirmation would be the same as insulting his own battle avatar.

"Whatever he is doing to mess up with our attacks, there is a limit, otherwise he wouldn’t have used those black walls to block your spears and our first rounds of attacks", said the hammer wielding nethereal to which the spear wielding one nodded as he condensed two spears one for each of his hands, while Lyle did the same, they didn’t charge at Badr this time though.

"Blood Steel Breaking Hundred Thrusts!", with a few words, the spear wielding nethereal continuously thrusted the spears in his hands creating dozens of large streams of battle aura, this was the amplified version of the martial art he had used before, which was blocked by Badr’s incredible display of maneuverability with the gate of protection.

"Bone Crushing Meteor Rain!", this time however, the hammer wielding nethereal also cooperated and the martial arts were casted using their battle avatars as the mediums, to increase both the power and the number of resulting projectiles as the rain of meteors and battle aura streams which basically covered the sky, suggested.

Badr who saw the incoming endless rain of attacks simply extended his right palm frontwards, his body released a large amount of energy which expanded towards the attacks making the enemies snort.

’Wanting to block all our attacks with a single of those black walls, nonsense!’, inwardly cursed the spear wielding nethereal to then nearly lose it as he saw... all the attacks stopping midair.

"Gate of Binding", due to the scale and having to continuously use technique, Badr had to call out its name, finally revealing how he made the attacks of those two, turn against each other.

It’s actually a simple trick, Badr used "Gate of Binding" to seal them away from the control of the enemies, something he has used in previous fights, and then he used the second effect of gate of binding to which he didn’t have access until this fight since he was recovering.

The result is that not only he didn’t have to remain static when using gate of binding, but he also could manipulate the sealed object the way he wanted, of course he had to use energy depending on object, but it was worth it, because he could do things like this.

"Ha!", Badr thrusted his left palm towards the nethereals and the attacks which were froze midair directly turned around and descended upon their creators, unlike gate of protection that only bounces back the enemy’s attack, gate of binding allows free manipulation of the sealed object, so the rain of attacks actually moved faster than when the enemies launched it.

"Boooooom!", as a result those two were drowned in hundreds of meteors and battle aura streams almost instantly, pieces of debris, dust and battle aura flew all over the place as the attacks destroyed the vicinity.

"Come out already, I know that wasn’t enough to kill you", said Badr as he saw the giant veil of dust that was created due to the previous explosion, to then wave his hands in order to disperse it.

As the scarred tall nethereal expected, not only the enemies were still alive, but they were actually unscathed, thanks to the invisible barrier that was now surrounding them.
