Reincarnation of Nikola Tesla in another world-Chapter 11: Friendly admirer and a fiery foe
Chapter 11 - Friendly admirer and a fiery foe
Today, the city felt a bit freer. The corrupt guards were gone, and for a while, no one bowed to evil. I felt a small joy at that, though a hint of sadness crept in. Soon, I would have to go to the capital, leaving behind the only home I had ever known.
I stood behind my stall while the market bustled. I filled each jar with care. I remembered the chaos from earlier thought that sometimes a bit of chaos clears the way.
A young dwarf stepped out of the crowd. He was small, wearing a worn leather apron and holding a little hammer. His eyes were full of hope and doubt.
"Hi," he said softly. "I'm Brom."
"I'm Kim," I replied with a nod.
Brom looked down at his callused hands. "I left home to learn the trade. I want to build something that shows I can do more than just work with metal. My clan won't let me come back until I prove I am good enough."
I raised an eyebrow and said , "That is a heavy task for a young boy, but ambition is a fine start Brom. Sometimes, even a small idea can change everything."
Brom's face brightened, but he said no more. I let him be for now.
Just then, Aldric came running through the crowd. shouting my name on the top of his lungs. His eyes full of worry and relief as he grabbed my arm.
"Kim, why did you leave the orphanage?" he asked, his voice shaking, tears dripping from his face "Everyone was so sad and scared for you. We all missed you very much."
I paused a bit and with an emotional quotient of a toddler i replied,
"Aldric, staying there was like watching paint dry while your dreams died only to find out life paints the wall everyday."
"I had to leave to see if there was more to life than misery and stale bread."
Aldric looked into my eyes, not understanding a bit i said "We want you back, Kim. I need you, we need you. Please, come home."
I shook my head slowly, "Listen, if I went back, I would be stuck there forever. Instead, I am making a new life , a life where we do not live in filth and sorrow. I must go to the capital" and seeing him clearly loose his smile,"... and I need someone smart by my side."

Aldric hesitated, then asked softly, "What do you mean by that?"
I leaned in and said in a low tone, "I need an assistant, Aldric. With your loyalty and a bit of common sense, we can turn this hard life into something rich and worth fighting for. Think of it: many riches and comforts. You get to eat anything, anytime. sleep as much as you want. It is much better than the orphanage, don't you think?"
After a long pause, Aldric's eyes shone with hope. "Alright, Kim. I will come with you. I trust you."
I patted his shoulder and then turned back to waiting Brom. The young dwarf still stood there, his hopeful gaze following every word. and for this one, his ambition might be just the spark we need.

Far away, in the heart of the capital, the wizard Vaqihr was standing on his high tower, looking at something, admiring it. A beast crashed down with a loud impact, dust and debris flying around. It held somthing big in its strong beak, it was a live cow and large at that. it's eyes rosy red not like prey but focusing sharply on Vagihr like a predator. It took a deep breath and hot steam burst from its wide nostrils into the cool night air. Its huge head bobbled as stones tumbled down the wall.
Vaqihr stepped forward, his dark cloak swirling in the wind. He moved with steady steps and reached out, placing his hand on the creature's giany head. The creature calmed down and dropped the cow form its beak. In that heavy, silent moment, everything seemed to stop. Then, his deep voice echoed across the square:
"It's time, my pet, we are going on a trip".
