Rejected By My Mate, Now Mated To The Lycan King-Chapter 47
~ NYSSA
She stumbled back with a scream of indignation, her hand flying over her face to protect herself.
"You bitch!" she screamed, but I didn’t care.
She’d unleashed something inside of me that I’d kept hidden for so long. All of the rage, the frustration and the embarrassment I’d suffered over the past few months came rushing out.
I threw my cereal in her face and threw myself at her, sending us both flying to the ground.
My hands hurt, but the pain was like a dull throb at the back of my mind as I continued raining hits all over her. I didn’t care what part of her I touched, I just needed to make sure she felt as much as pain as she’d inflicted in the past few weeks.
To her credit, she fought back.
Despite the fact that she was using one hand to try and protect herself, the other hand dealt considerably damage. She scratched and clawed at my face, her sharp nails drawing blood with each swipe of her hands.
The wounds stung, but the anger acted like a numbing effect. I didn’t feel a thing, not until hands wrapped around my waist and I was pulled off her.
I tried to hold on as long as possible, grabbing her hair and tugging as hard as I could.
"Let go!" a voice ordered. I didn’t recognize it, but it was very male. "You’re going to do some serious damage if you don’t."
"Good!" I screamed. "Let me at the fucking bitch!"
"You’re crazy," Alisa spat, pulling out of my grip.
I smiled victoriously when I took a chunk of her hair with me. I even went a step further and spat in her face.
Her nose seemed to be broken, and there was so much blood rushing out of it. She had a split lip and cuts all over her arms.
My arms didn’t look much better, but I was glad that I’d dealt the most damage.
"You’re going to fucking regret this," she hissed and that brought on another wave of anger entirely.
I fought against the man holding me, kicking and screaming as I reached out for Alisa.
For the first time in a long time, I saw something other than disdain flash across her eyes as she looked at me... fear. I suddenly understood why dictators loved to rule with fear.
There was something exhilarating about having another person look at you with pure terror. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
She turned on her heels and scurried into the car. It wasn’t until she disappeared out of sight that I finally began to calm down.
My knuckles stung and my arms felt like they were on fire. She’d done a good job leaving my arms bloody but the cuts were already healing right before my eyes.
"Are you calmer now?" the stranger asked and my entire body went rigid.
I’d completely forgotten that I was in the arms of a stranger. I was yet to even see the man.
I wiggled to get out of my hold and thankfully, he released me this time.
I turned to him sharply, but I realized I’d never seen him before. He was taller than most of the people in this pack, with a large build and short curly hair. His skin was a shade darker than mine, and his eyes were alight with mirth.
He was a lycan.
He looked young, but then again, all lycans did. If I had to guess, I’d have said he was about my age, but he could’ve been pushing a century and I wouldn’t know.
"With how you were attacking her earlier, I would’ve thought that you’d go running after her car," he mused. "You seem like you wanted to kill her."
I did.
It was a humbling feeling to know that even I was capable of so much violence. I hadn’t so much as gotten into a fight before.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, crossing my arms over my chest subconsciously. "You should be with the other guards protecting the pack."
"I should," he agreed. "But I was given different orders today."
"What orders?" I asked and he gave me a pointed look.
It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize that I was the assignment.
I should have known after that call with Aria that they would keep an eye on me. After all, I had information that could put the palace in danger.
I smoothed down my shirt, trying to appear like less of a hooligan than I did in the past few minutes.
"You can tell the King that I don’t need a bodyguard, I’m not going to sell out the palace," I said simply. "You can leave."
"After what just happened? Like hell. When I was given this job, I thought I’d be bored, but a cat fight on day one is peak entertainment. You’re not getting rid of me even if the King himself asks me to leave."
He leaned against the doorway.
"You’re stuck with me, we might as well try to get along. Besides, what if she comes back? Who is going to keep you from killing her next time?"
I tried to conjure up a bit of annoyance but I was so emotionally spent. I’d used up every last amount of emotional energy on Alisa, but I didn’t regret it one bit.
I just stared at the man in front of me blankly wondering what kind of guard he was.
The ones I’d met were all stoic faced and hard hearted. They wouldn’t even laugh at a joke, and yet here he was, smiling like he’d just won the lottery.
"Who the hell are you anyway?" I asked incredulously.
To that, he made a show of tipping his head and holding out his hand. "I’m Eric, it’s a pleasure to meet you, and you are?"
"Don’t you know the name of your assignment?"
He rolled his eyes playfully. "I do, but I’m trying to be nice, humor me and take my hand."
He was absolutely ridiculous, but it was much better than being cold.
I took his hand. "I’m Nyssa."
"Well, Nyssa, I think we are going to have so much fun together."
