Chapter 267: Chapter 265: Waiting for Your Class to End

Upon hearing Si Wen’s words, Lin Xi’s pretty face flushed bright red. "Si Wen, what are you talking about? I’m not pining for anyone."

"You say you’re not, but look, it’s written all over your face."

Lin Xi covered her face in a panic. "Ah? Did I write something on my face? Where?"

Could it be? When I was just thinking about Xue Yang, did I accidentally write his name on my face? That shouldn’t be possible. The tip of the pen was pointing down the whole time.

She looked down at the book filled with Xue Yang’s name written over and over again and pouted. "Si Wen, you’re teasing me again."

"No, I’m not," Si Wen said, poking Lin Xi’s cheek a few times with her finger. "It’s written right here: ’I’m pining for a boy.’"

"You are teasing me! I’m not pining, I just miss Xue Yang."

"If missing Xue Yang isn’t pining, then what is it?"

Lin Xi tilted her head and asked in confusion, "Is missing Xue Yang the same as pining?"

"What else could it be? Look outside, the tree branches are all sprouting. Even the trees pine for spring, let alone people. So, pining is really nothing to be embarrassed about."

Lin Xi had an epiphany. "Then I guess I am pining."

Si Wen chuckled softly. "Right, that’s the correct way to think about it."

So gullible, haha. It’s true that my grades aren’t as good as Lin Xi’s, no matter how hard I try to catch up. But that’s okay, I’m more cunning than she is in other ways. See? God is fair, haha.

At 6:05 PM, Xue Yang arrived at the entrance of Harlow International School.

The spring rain continued to patter down, showing no signs of stopping. He parked the car in a spot directly across from the gate, rested both hands on the steering wheel, and lowered his head slightly to look at the entrance.

Every time Xue Yang saw the gate of Harlow International School, he was struck by the same impression: money. Other places might subtly display their wealth on their facades, but not Harlow. It practically shouted ’I AM WEALTHY’ from its entryway.

Taking his hands off the steering wheel, Xue Yang leaned back against the seat, reclining it to a comfortable position as he settled in to wait. Right now, nothing was more important than waiting for Lin Xi to get out of class.

Not far away, a middle-aged man inside a stretched Lincoln asked casually, "Is that Xue Yang’s car?"

Uncle He was slightly startled before replying, "Yes, Chairman."

Uncle He had originally planned to pick up the Young Miss from school, but the Chairman had just returned and decided to come along. Unexpectedly, as soon as they arrived, they saw Xue Yang’s car already parked in the most conspicuous spot imaginable. It was impossible to miss.

"Chairman, should I ask Xue Yang to come see you?"

"No need. Let’s go back."

"Ah? Chairman, aren’t we picking up the Young Miss?"

"Do you really think you could pick her up now?"

He had a point. With Xue Yang here, there’s no way the Young Miss would go home with the Chairman.

"Understood, Chairman."

With that, Uncle He slowly started the car and, once out of Xue Yang’s sight, drove away from Harlow International School.

Spring nights arrived a little later. At 6:30 PM, the sky was only just beginning to darken.

The street lamps flickered on. Pedestrians carrying umbrellas of all colors walked slowly through the rain, resembling a flowing painted scroll. The warm light spilling from the street-side shops intertwined with the curtain of rain, painting a cozy picture.

Xue Yang rolled the window down a crack. The unique, moist, earthy scent of a fresh rainfall rushed into his nose, instantly refreshing his spirit. It was the distinct, fresh aroma of spring, captivating the soul.

In the distance, the grand gates of Harlow were barely visible through the rain, as if draped in a mysterious veil. As the end of classes drew nearer, the flow of traffic increased, their headlights flickering in the downpour like brilliant stars in the night sky.

He was about to see his Xiao Naimao, and Xue Yang’s heart began to stir with anticipation. It had been a long time since he’d felt this way.

Seeing that it was almost time, Xue Yang grabbed an umbrella, opened the car door, and stepped out. He walked around to the trunk, opened it, and lifted out a large bouquet of gardenias. Holding the flowers in one arm and the umbrella in the other, he looked like a Prince in the rain, waiting for his Princess to emerge from her castle and come home with him.

At 9:00 PM, students began to file out of the school. Seeing a young man holding a massive bouquet of flowers at the gate, they all let out sounds of surprise.

The boys were mostly impressed. In this day and age, it took real courage for a guy to stand in public at the school gate holding such a huge bouquet for his girlfriend. They wouldn’t dare do something like that themselves.

The girls, on the other hand, were mostly envious.

"This guy is so romantic! He’s waiting in the rain with such a big bouquet for his girlfriend. He must have been waiting for a long time, right?"

"Oh, they’re gardenias! I love them. Roses and all that are so common. This is the first time I’ve ever seen a guy give gardenias to his girlfriend. If he gave them to me, I’d do anything he asked."

"Is it just me, or is that guy really handsome? He looks a little familiar, too, like I’ve seen him somewhere before."

Xue Yang ignored the chatter around him. His gaze remained fixed on a single spot the entire time.

"Lin Xi, slow down! It’s raining, and the ground is slippery. You’re going to fall!"

The moment class was dismissed, Lin Xi grabbed her backpack and bolted, leaving Si Wen struggling to keep up.

"Xue Yang is already at the gate waiting for me. I have to hurry and see him!"

"He’s already there, so what’s wrong with making him wait a little longer? Don’t be in such a rush!"

"I don’t want to make him wait that long."

"If he’s unwilling to wait a little bit, then he’s not worth having as a boyfriend. Seriously, don’t sell yourself so short."

"Will acting more ’valuable’ make Xue Yang happy?"

Si Wen was at a loss for words.

"Since it won’t, then I’d rather not be ’valuable.’ Now hurry up, or I won’t let you have any chicken legs."

"Chicken legs?" Si Wen suddenly remembered their plan to go to Xue Yang’s Home for chicken legs during the holiday. "Lin Xi, wait for me!"

"Just run faster yourself!"

The nature of their plastic sisterhood was on full display.

At 9:05 PM, Xue Yang still hadn’t seen the girl he was waiting for. The crowd around him hadn’t seemed to disperse either. Huddled under their various umbrellas, they all waited together, curious to see who the lucky girl was.

"Who is she? How could she bear to let this guy wait in the rain for so long? If it were me, I would have just skipped class and come out."

"It’s only been like five minutes. That’s not too long."

"Not long? My boyfriend gets angry if I make him wait for even one minute."

"Ugh, why would you even want such an impatient boyfriend? You should break up with him."

"You’re right! I’m breaking up with him. I’m going home to do it right now!"

As they were talking, a figure burst out from the school.

"Xue Yang~!"

A cheerful, clear voice successfully drew everyone’s attention.

Everyone instinctively craned their necks to see who this girl was.
