Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love-Chapter 340 - 338: Xue Yang’s Ambition
Xue Yang smiled and said, "Lin Corporation is a major international company with an enormous influence on Dragon Country and the entire world. When I first received their offer, I was extremely excited. However, as the saying goes, everyone has their own ambitions. My goal is to collaborate with Lin Corporation someday. Perhaps in the near future, we might even become great partners."
Xue Yang’s words not only stunned Zhang Bingbing, but Gong Lee was just as shocked. She had always known that Xue Yang was very ambitious, but she had never realized his ambition was this grand. To speak of becoming a partner with Lin Corporation was something no one had ever dared to declare so openly.
"So, what kind of person do you think Chairman Lin is?" Zhang Bingbing continued to probe.
"I think Chairman Lin is a great elder..."
Hearing this, Gong Lee quickly intervened. "Xue Yang, don’t be disrespectful. I’m sorry, Reporter Zhang, he’s young and doesn’t know any better. Let’s end the interview here for today."
Not just anyone could regard Chairman Lin as an elder. He was a figure most people could only admire from afar—an excellent entrepreneur and an outstanding contributor to the nation. For Xue Yang to describe him in such personal terms during a formal interview was clearly inappropriate.
Xue Yang stated calmly, "In my heart, that’s exactly who Chairman Lin is. He’s a man, not a god. And since he’s a man, he can be regarded as an elder."
Gong Lee opened her mouth to stop him but held back her words.
"Our history on Earth is long. There’s no such thing as an era of quiet prosperity; it’s only because we have a country, people like Chairman Lin, and our schools and teachers carrying the burden for us and forging ahead. When the people have faith, the country has strength, and the nation has hope!"
This statement undoubtedly took the interview to a new level. If Chairman Lin himself had been present, he certainly would have been captivated. It had to be said, Xue Yang really had something special about him; no wonder he had achieved so much at such a young age.
After the interview concluded, Zhang Bingbing and her photographer left.
Gong Lee said worriedly, "You... People say you’re young, but the things you do aren’t what someone your age should be capable of. Yet if I say you’re mature, how could you describe Chairman Lin like that in front of a reporter? If someone were to take those words and blow them out of proportion, accusing you of trying to curry favor, it would be extremely damaging to your future."
"Don’t worry, Professor. Chairman Lin isn’t that kind of person."
After Gong Lee left, Xue Yang took out the business card Lin Zhenhai had given him from his wallet.
Lin Xi is about to take her college entrance exams. After that, we’ll have to go public. Should I... find a time to pay her father a visit? But as long as our relationship remains a secret, I have no official standing. Nothing I say would carry any weight. I should just wait a bit longer.
The conversation from the interview quickly reached Lin Zhenhai’s ears. He asked with great interest, "Did Xue Yang really say that?"
"Yes, Chairman."
Jiawen Li really admired Xue Yang for daring to express his true thoughts in front of a reporter. He couldn’t tell if the boy was genuinely naive or just playing dumb. Still, he had to admit the young man’s ambition was not small. A man certainly needs ambition, but if it’s not managed properly, it can become excessive. Once it’s excessive, it starts to look like flattery or a deliberate publicity stunt. As for Xue Yang’s motives... Jiawen Li still couldn’t figure them out. He just knew one thing for certain: the Chairman wasn’t angry. In fact, far from being angry, he seemed to approve. If it had been anyone else, the outcome would have been very different.
"Chairman, should these remarks be included in the edit?"
Lin Zhenhai pondered for a moment before saying, "Include them."
"Very well, Chairman." After receiving Lin Zhenhai’s answer, Jiawen Li left the office, leaving the chairman alone in the vast room.
Lin Zhenhai’s gaze fell upon the desk calendar, and he suddenly realized it was April 3rd.
In two more months, Xiao Xi will be taking her college entrance exams. I’m well aware of Lin Xi’s grades. Getting into Yenbei University will be a breeze for her. I promised that if she got into Yenbei, I would let her be with Xue Yang. I’ve also been evaluating Xue Yang all this time. Fortunately, he hasn’t disappointed me so far. As for his family...
Lin Zhenhai stood up from his seat and walked over to the large floor-to-ceiling window, from which he could see the entirety of the Imperial City. This view alone was a testament to how prestigious his position was. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
The next two months became even busier for Xue Yang. He often got so busy that he forgot to attend class. Sometimes, when he did remember to go, he would discover that Guo Dekun had been signing him in for all the lectures he had missed.
"Don’t thank me," Guo Dekun said. "If you want to thank someone, thank Keke. She’s the one who asked me to sign you in. If I didn’t, she wouldn’t talk to me. I’d never have taken this risk otherwise."
Xue Yang was mildly surprised. He felt grateful, but he also admired Guo Dekun’s perseverance. Even after Cai Keke had so clearly rejected him, the guy still hadn’t given up.
He had never pursued Chen Ying with this much tenacity. After all, Chen Ying had at least given him some hope, which was why he had persisted for six years.
Xue Yang started to say something, but on second thought, he held his tongue.
Best to respect the fate of others.
Xue Yang leaned back slightly in his chair, toward Cai Keke’s seat right behind him. The moment he moved, Cai Keke tensed up. She had heard the entire conversation between him and Guo Dekun.
He turned his head to face her and said sincerely, "Cai Keke, thank you."
After everything she had done, she finally got a response from him. Cai Keke became completely flustered. "Ah... I... You... Um... Can I treat you to a meal?"
Xue Yang smiled faintly. "Of course."
"Really?" Cai Keke exclaimed in surprise.
"Guo Dekun has been signing me in all this time, so I really owe him a meal. How about you treat him for me? Thank you, Classmate Cai."
Cai Keke could only stare in confusion.
Guo Dekun, on the other hand, was ecstatic. He had been devastated when he heard Cai Keke invite Xue Yang to a meal. His heart had sunk completely, especially when Xue Yang agreed. However, Xue Yang’s last remark reignited the hope in his heart, and his eyes lit up.
What a bro! A true bro! I’ve been helping him sign in lately, and I’ve been constantly on edge. I was terrified of getting caught by Master Miejue and finding myself in deep trouble. In fact, I was on the verge of telling Cai Keke I couldn’t do it anymore. After all, there were no perks. Cai Keke still barely paid me any attention. My friends could hardly bear to watch anymore!
