Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love-Chapter 41: The Opportunity to Enter Lin Corporation
Xue Yang set down his laptop and touched Lin Xiβs forehead. It was still burning hot, yet she claimed to be cold.
"Xue Yang, Iβm so cold~" ππ«ππ²ππππ§π πππ₯.πππ
Even with her eyes closed, Lin Xi was still mumbling Xue Yangβs name.
This silly girl.
Xue Yang took off his jacket and slipped into the bed, pulling the trembling girl into his arms. "Youβre not cold anymore," he whispered. "Youβre not cold anymore."
With Xue Yang acting as a human heater, Lin Xi gradually began to feel better. She stopped shivering and snuggled obediently in his arms, falling asleep.
By the latter half of the night, Lin Xiβs fever had finally broken.
The first thing she did upon waking was look for Xue Yang. She found herself held in his embrace, and the moment she stirred, he woke up too.
His warm hand touched her forehead. Although her fever was gone, her face now felt hotter than ever. She quietly pulled the blanket up, burying herself under it, not daring to meet his eyes.
"Xue Yang, Iβm drenched in sweat. I want to change clothes."
"Feeling shy now?"
"..."
From under the blanket, Lin Xiβs muffled voice emerged. "Whoβs shy? Not me! Hurry up and get me some clothes."
"Which set? The pink one with the Hello Kitty pattern?"
Lin Xi peeked out from a corner of the blanket just in time to see Xue Yang rummaging through her underwear, holding up a set in his hand.
Oh my god, how could he?
Lin Xi nearly jumped out of bed, hastily snatching the pink lingerie set from his hands. "This is the one! Donβt look for any more."
Xue Yang calmly said, "Oh," and continued searching for her other clothes, pulling out a large, colorful pile.
Lin Xi finally realized just how mortifying it was to have a guy pick out her clothes for her.
"Iβll find them myself! Iβll do it!"
"Alright."
"..."

On Tuesday morning, after repeatedly confirming Lin Xiβs fever was gone, Xue Yang finally headed to school.
The first thing he did when he arrived was go look for Master Miejue.
"Teacher Gong, Iβm sorry. I didnβt mean to skip class yesterday."
Xue Yangβs attitude was respectful but not obsequious, as if he would calmly accept any punishment she chose to impose.
Master Miejue looked him up and down, furrowed her brow, and said, "Xue Yang, you donβt look sick."
Xue Yang had known it would be obvious he wasnβt sick the moment he showed up.
"My friend was sick. I couldnβt bear to leave her home alone, which is why I was absent. As you know, Teacher, this weather is dangerously cold, especially for someone who is ill and has no one to look after them."
Master Miejueβs real name was Gong Li. Few at the school still knew it; everyone simply called her Master Miejue. While no one said it to her face, she was well aware of the nickname.
"I understand. Your academic performance has always been excellent across all subjects. Moreover, you were this yearβs top scorer on the college entrance exam in Hui City. The school has high expectations for you.
"Iβm currently overseeing a research project with the Lin Corporation. Iβve selected a few students, and I think you and Cui Hao are both a good fit. I hope youβll participate. Consider it a way to gain practical experience before entering the workforce. If you perform well, itβs not out of the question for you to join the Lin Corporation after graduation.
"The Lin Corporation is one of the top international conglomerates. Our university, Yanbei, collaborates with them every year to supply talented individuals. I hope you will seize this opportunity. Of course, if we find anyone unsuitable during the process, they will be removed immediately. This will not affect your academic record; just think of it as a trial run."
Xue Yang certainly knew of the Lin Corporation.
There was a popular saying: if you want to change your fate, get into Yanbei University. If you want to move up a social class, take the civil service exam after graduation. If you want to do both, join the Lin Corporation after graduation.
Only a few at the nationβs core knew just how deep the Lin Corporationβs roots went.
Rumor had it that it wouldnβt even be impossible for the Lin Corporation to establish a new country. Of course, rumors were just rumors. The populace was currently content, so no one would attempt to revive an old dynasty. Still, it served as an indirect testament to the Lin Corporationβs power.
They came to Yanbei University every year searching for suitable talent. Many were given a chance, but ultimately, only one or two would pass the final selection.
He hadnβt expected Master Miejue to have such faith in him, offering him the first chance. Heβd be lying if he said he wasnβt moved.
"Xue Yang, this list was compiled after multiple comprehensive assessments by the school. I hope you two wonβt let me and the school down."
"Thank you, Teacher. Weβll do our best," Xue Yang said, bowing to Gong Li gratefully.
Cui Hao found Xue Yang the moment he left Master Miejueβs office. "So? Did she chew you out?"
"No, she didnβt."
Hearing that Master Miejue hadnβt given Xue Yang a hard time, Cui Hao finally relaxed. He then had the mental energy to really look at his friend.
"Xue Yang, your fashion sense has leveled up again. Is that the newest technical jacket from Trendy Apparel? A jacket like that costs several thousand. I could never bring myself to buy one, but you actually own it!"
In winter, everyone else bundled up until they looked like bloated, unattractive snowballs. On top of that, the northern winds were so fierce they left everyoneβs skin a dry, cracked mess.
Xue Yang not only had no such worries, but he seemed to be heading further and further down a completely different path.
They say college is like plastic surgeryβyour looks change year after year. But damn it, itβs only been two months! How could he change this much? Is he even going to let the rest of us live?
"Itβs not that youβre reluctant to buy it, you just donβt have the money, right?"
"Donβt rub it in! Bro, howβd you get so rich all of a sudden? Donβt tell me..."
Cui Haoβs suggestive gaze made it clear his thoughts were not entirely wholesome.
It was no wonder Cui Haoβs mind went there. Xue Yangβs transformation was simply too dramatic and obvious. Just last week, he had still been within the realm of a normal human. Now, after only two or three days, he seemed to have taken a quantum leap to a level ordinary people couldnβt even touch. How could Cui Hao not let his imagination run wild?
"I earned it myself."
"Thatβs low, man. Find a way to make money and you donβt even cut your brother in."
"Iβve been helping Trendy Apparelβs online store with photo editing. They gave this to me."
"...Never mind, then. I can look at pictures, sure, but photo editing? Not a clue." Cui Hao shook his head. "I canβt believe you have these hidden skills. I practically kill myself handing out flyers all weekend just to make a hundred-something yuan. Meanwhile, youβre wearing clothes worth several thousand, and you donβt even have to suffer out in the sun and rain. No wonder your face is getting more and more refined. Is this the gap between people?"
This world really is full of disparities. Comparison is the thief of joy.
As they were walking down the corridor, Cui Hao suddenly tugged on Xue Yangβs sleeve. Xue Yang glanced down at him, puzzled.
"Your ex-girlfriendβs here."
