Remarriage Failed Again Today-Chapter 143: Where are you going?
But he knew he wouldn’t hurt her like he had before.
But Leona Grant would never know.
Annabelle Linton would never accept him.
「Four hours later.」
The surgery was a success, and Grandfather was wheeled into the recovery room.
Annabelle Linton and the others looked after Grandfather for over an hour. The doctor said the patient needed to rest quietly, so Annabelle finally left the hospital.
As if they were afraid she’d back out, all of her belongings had been moved back to the old family home by the servants while Grandfather was in surgery.
Annabelle Linton stood on the stone steps of the hospital entrance, staring into the bright sunlight in a daze.
She felt as if she had been transported back to the day she was reborn.
’I don’t know what the future holds, what I’m supposed to do, or even why I’m living.’
The only difference was that on the day she was reborn, she had wanted to live a good life, and her sole purpose was to divorce Leona Grant.
But now, it felt like she had nothing left at all.
The thought of having to live with Leona Grant for the rest of her life made her feel she’d be better off dead.
But she couldn’t get a divorce now.
Annabelle Linton let out a heavy sigh, feeling hopeless about her life once again.
"Young Madam, please."
A servant’s voice suddenly broke through, pulling Annabelle Linton back from her reverie.
Annabelle Linton closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and slid into the car.
’Starting today, I’ll be with Leona Grant again...’
The car moved slowly down the road.
Leona Grant glanced at Annabelle Linton out of the corner of his eye.
Annabelle was staring expressionlessly out the window, lost in thought.
She gave off a distant air, seeming even colder than before.
’Just a few days ago, she was still smiling, but whenever she faces me, she puts on a cold expression.’
At that thought, Leona Grant’s expression instantly darkened.
’Damn woman. If it weren’t for Grandfather, does she really think she’d still have the chance to be the Young Madam of the Grant Family?’
’If it weren’t for Grandfather, does she think I’d be with her?’
’She should take a good look in the mirror!’
Suddenly, a phone began to ring inside the car.
Leona Grant glanced impassively at Annabelle Linton.
Annabelle Linton answered the phone indifferently. After a moment, her eyes lit up, her voice tinged with an excitement that was hard to miss. "Really?"
The person on the phone repeated it, and a smile spread across Annabelle’s face that she couldn’t contain. Her eyes were alight, and her voice held a barely perceptible tremor of eagerness. "Okay, I’ll be right over."
Leona Grant watched Annabelle in astonishment, wondering what could have happened.
’But judging by the smile on her face and her excitement, it must be good news, right?’
’But what could it be?’
’The Annabelle he knew had always been as cold as ice, completely expressionless.’
’This was the first time he had ever seen her genuinely smile.’
"Stop the car!" Annabelle commanded the driver.
Hearing the command, the driver instinctively glanced at Leona Grant.
His hesitation annoyed Annabelle, who was in a hurry to get out. She snapped coldly, "I told you to stop the car. Didn’t you hear me?"
"Yes... yes, Young Madam, I’ll stop right away!"
The driver brought the car to a stop, and Annabelle opened the door to get out.
Leona Grant instinctively grabbed Annabelle’s wrist. "Where are you going?" he asked, his gaze dark and intense.
Annabelle struggled, saying impatiently, "I’m just stepping out for a bit. You can go back without me."
With a frown, she yanked her hand free, got out of the car, and hurried away.
Leona Grant glanced in the rearview mirror, but Annabelle was already gone.
She had moved so fast. In those high heels, she disappeared in just a few seconds.
