Remarriage Failed Again Today-Chapter 66: If Possible, Let’s Never Meet Again in This Lifetime...
It finally dawned on Vivian Yates why the water, which hadn’t been hot at all, had suddenly become scalding.
’So this bitch did it on purpose!’
’But how did she know I was going to use the tea to frame her?’
While Vivian Yates was still reeling in confusion, Annabelle Linton said with a smile, "Leona Grant will be here any second. Better put on a good show."
Vivian Yates looked up and, sure enough, saw Leona Grant rushing over. With no time to think, she immediately put on a frail act, looking at Annabelle Linton with tear-filled eyes. "Annabelle, I’ve told you countless times that Leona and I are innocent! Why won’t you believe me?!"
When Leona Grant arrived, the scene before him made him lose his composure.
Vivian Yates was on the ground, a large, swollen welt on her face and leg. A shattered cup lay beside her, tears streaming down her face while Annabelle Linton watched her with a cold expression. It wasn’t hard to guess what had happened.
Leona Grant’s expression instantly turned cold. He violently shoved Annabelle Linton aside.
And then, the unexpected happened!
"AHH—"
Following a woman’s shriek, Annabelle Linton suddenly tumbled down more than twenty steps.
Leona Grant froze, completely stunned. He never imagined something like this would happen.
Annabelle Linton tumbled uncontrollably, falling down the stairs step by painful step.
Her head slammed against the steps, and the world began to spin. Pain wracked every inch of her body. Her mind, except for the agony, was a complete blank. She couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think.
She was losing consciousness, only instinctively trying to protect herself. Hazy images flickered before her eyes.
’Pushed away by Leona Grant again...’
’Even though I provoked him into pushing me, my heart still aches.’
’This stabbing pain isn’t because of that scumbag.’
’It’s for my wasted youth. For the ignorant years I squandered, spending my entire girlhood chasing after and cherishing a love that was never returned.’
’For twenty-five years in her past life, she had loved one man. She’d given him her all, abandoned everything, and allowed him to trample on her dignity. He had relentlessly ravaged the very heart she needed to survive.’
’But she could have chosen a completely different life back then...’
’In her past life, if she had just walked away with her head held high the moment she realized Leona Grant didn’t love her, she never would have suffered so much humiliation. With the Linton Family’s influence and her own education and abilities, things would have been different.’
’She wouldn’t have even died so tragically.’
’But no, she insisted on shackling herself to Leona Grant. In the end, she lost all her dignity and only ended up disgusting everyone else.’
Annabelle Linton was filled with regret. ’If I hadn’t lied to myself back then, would I have died so horribly and been reborn?’
’And now, she wondered, if she had never met Leona Grant in the first place, would her life have been wonderful?’
Annabelle Linton squeezed her eyes shut. She didn’t know what kind of lasting injuries a fall from this height would cause. But even if it meant death, she was willing, as long as it meant she could be free of Leona Grant.
The pain he had caused was already seared into her very soul...
’If only we never had to meet again in this lifetime...’
Just as Ashley Grant reached the stairwell, intending to head to the rooftop, Annabelle Linton came rolling to a stop at her feet.
She jumped in fright. Looking down, she saw the unconscious Annabelle Linton, and her eyes flew wide.
"Sister-in-law! Sister-in-law, what happened to you?" Ashley Grant cried out twice, but Annabelle Linton didn’t respond. She knelt to get a closer look.
Annabelle Linton’s face was covered in scrapes. A deep gash on her temple was bleeding profusely, and in moments, a large pool of blood had stained the floor.
