Remarriage Failed Again Today-Chapter 80: Are You Warning Me?
A slightly cool sensation. A strange feeling coursed through Leona Grant, and his heart felt as if it had been struck by a jolt of electricity. An inexplicable sense of satisfaction lingered within him.
His eyes narrowed with arousal as he savored the heart-pounding sensation.
Seeing that he had let his guard down, Annabelle Linton’s eyes turned cold, and she bit down hard on his finger.
The pain was sharp and immediate. Seeing the look on Leona Grant’s face change in an instant, it was now Annabelle Linton’s turn to smile.
She didn’t let go until the taste of blood filled her mouth.
Taking a wet wipe from the bedside table, she elegantly wiped her mouth. "You’d better remember this. You’re not the only one in this world who can make people pay. Next time, if you dare to be so insolent again..."
She raised an eyebrow and smiled arrogantly. "It won’t be as simple as biting your finger. I’ll make you understand what it means to have your family line end with you!"
’How many times has it been now?’
No one had ever dared to lay a hand on him, yet this was the second time she had done so, openly and brazenly.
’She must have absolutely no respect for me.’
’But was he angry?’
The corner of Leona Grant’s mouth lifted in an amused smile. "Are you warning me?"
"Hah."
Annabelle Linton gave a sarcastic smile, pulled the IV needle from the back of her hand, and tossed it aside. Then, she got out of bed and coolly walked away.
As if he hadn’t expected her to do that, Leona Grant was stunned once again.
’What a captivating woman.’
’She exudes a wild, untamable spirit.’
This woman was always doing the unexpected. By the time he snapped out of it, all he saw was the pale yellow medicine staining the white hospital sheets and a few scattered drops of blood on the floor.
Leona Grant frowned. ’She’s a doctor, so why doesn’t she ever take care of her own body?’
He touched his bleeding finger where she had bitten him.
He had practiced self-restraint for years, yet the moment her cool tongue touched his finger, he had actually felt a powerful surge of arousal.
In that split second, a wicked fire surged through him, creating a strange void that yearned to be filled.
Leona Grant realized his impression of and attitude toward Annabelle Linton were subtly changing.
When she gave him the cold shoulder, he wasn’t angry. When she ignored him, he grew agitated. When she laid hands on him, he actually felt an indescribable... excitement!
Leona Grant froze, his expression gradually darkening.
’Regardless of whether I’m still as determined to divorce her as I was before, she has no intention of getting along with me and living a quiet life.’
’I am Leona Grant.’
’I’m always the one who tells others to scram.’
Just as Leona Grant’s expression was turning grim, his phone suddenly rang.
He answered the call. Whatever he heard made his expression change drastically, and he rushed out of the room.
...
Annabelle Linton returned after a short walk outside.
By the time she returned, Leona Grant was gone. Ashley Grant was at a table, getting their lunch ready.
Her injuries must have been serious this time; her entire body ached after just a short walk. Her knees and forehead were especially bad, sending a sharp stab of pain with every step.
Annabelle Linton sat on the edge of the bed and lay back down. Only then did her body feel a little more comfortable.
Ashley Grant shot her a disapproving look. "So, you think falling from that high up is some kind of a joke? You have a severe concussion, did you know that? The doctor said you need to rest properly, or you’ll suffer permanent consequences. Why can’t you just take better care of yourself?"
’Her mood flips on a dime. They really are two peas in a pod.’
Annabelle Linton touched her forehead, clearly tired of the lecture. "I know, I know. What are we having for lunch?"
