Remarried Wife: She will Remarry, But Another Person-Chapter 198: To Become Someone Who Can Stand Beside Him
Over on Sabrina’s side, after finishing her work during the day, she clocked out on time in the evening to pick up Zara from school.
Then, as agreed, she went to see her mentor.
When they arrived at the small courtyard villa, the old master and Butler Woods were already waiting, and had even prepared a large sumptuous dinner.
Butler Woods smiled and said to Sabrina, "Ah, finally you’re here. The old master has been gazing out the door all afternoon, waiting for you two."
The old master, caught out, glared at Woods and said, "Nonsense, I was just taking a stroll, not waiting for them all day."
"Yes, yes, whatever you say is right."
Butler Woods didn’t argue with him.
Of course, Sabrina knew her mentor was saying one thing but meaning another.
However, being cared for in this way made her feel very warm inside.
Zara, on the other hand, curiously looked at the two grandpas in front of her.
Sabrina took the initiative to introduce them to her daughter, saying, "Zara, this is Master, who taught mommy medical skills. And next to him, you can just call him Grandpa Woods."
Because of Zara’s special situation, on the way, Sabrina had already briefed her, telling her that today she would be meeting people who cherished her mommy just like her grandparents did.
The little one clung to her mommy’s clothes, looking at the two grandpas before her.
Despite being unfamiliar, her baby face looked a bit timid, but she still greeted them in a sweet, milky voice, "Hello Master, hello Grandpa Woods!"
Older folks have always liked children, not to mention this little girl, who looked so delicate and charming, just like a spitting image of Sabrina when she was small.
Butler Woods instantly adored her, replying with a smile in his voice, "Oh dear, hello little one, you really look just like Miss Sabrina did when she was your age!"
As he spoke, he walked over to the little one, taking a big handful of candies from his pocket, squatting down in front of her, and saying, "Miss Zara, Grandpa Woods heard that you like strawberry-flavored candies, so I specially prepared these for you. See if you like them."
The old master did not expect Butler Woods to act so fast, his eyes widened.
He said, "You old fox, when did you prepare these? Why didn’t you inform me?"
Butler Woods ignored him, only looking lovingly at the little one, waiting for her to take the candies.
Instinctively, Zara looked at her mommy, her big grape-like eyes seemed to ask: Can I accept them?
Sabrina smiled and patted the little one on the head, telling her, "These are specially prepared for you by Grandpa Woods, you can accept them."
"Okay!"
Only then did Zara nod and took a step closer to Butler Woods.
Her small hand took one piece from the big handful of candies and she smiled sweetly, saying, "Thank you, Grandpa Woods, I’ll just have this one!"
The little girl wasn’t greedy at all, and Butler Woods was charmed by her well-mannered demeanor, laughing, and saying, "That’s not enough, all these are for little Zara, take them all."
Then he started placing all the candies into her small pocket, filling it in no time.
The old master watched this scene, puffing his cheeks and glaring, almost dying of exasperation!
This old fox was really cunning, winning over the child right in front of him!
Afrlalid he wouldn’t win the little one’s favor, he hurriedly walked over, pulling Butler Woods aside.
So as not to scare the child, he softened his voice and warmly asked, "Zara, do you like toys? Master has prepared a lot for you, how about I take you to see them now?"
The little one sensed the old master’s goodwill, and this time, without looking at her mommy, she obediently nodded her little head.
Seeing the little one accept him so quickly, the old master was finally satisfied and immediately led the little girl inside the villa courtyard.
The little girl’s soft small hand made him involuntarily recall the first time he held Sabrina’s hand when she was little.
Back then, she was just as well-behaved.
Seeing the mother and daughter’s similar faces, the old master couldn’t help but feel even more fond of this little disciple granddaughter...
He led them inside, and as soon as they got inside, Sabrina saw a table full of gifts.
There were dozens of pink fox plush toys and figurines, many of which were limited edition rarities that couldn’t be bought even with money.
Sabrina was greatly surprised, looking at Butler Woods beside her, "How... how are there so many?"
Butler Woods quietly told her, "These were all gathered after the old master found out about Zara’s preferences during the day today, through some connections, scavenging the whole city.
Fortunately, someone whom the old master once treated had some influence, which allowed them to collect so many at once.
I heard that some were even rushed in from the neighboring city, which shows the old master’s deep affection for little Zara."
Sabrina couldn’t help but chuckle after hearing Woods’ words, "Master really knows how to win Zara’s heart."
At this point, the little one was so happy her eyes were shining, holding a pink fox plushie almost as tall as she was, and couldn’t bear to let go.
She asked the master in her sweet, childish voice, "Are these... all for Zara?"
The old master smiled kindly and nodded, "Yes, all for you, do you like them, Zara?"
"I love them! I love them so much! Thank you, Master!!!"
Seeing the little one so happy made the old master feel joyful as well and he said with a smile, "As long as you like them, take them all home later!"
"Mm-hmm!"
The little one nodded, her cheeks pink with happiness, and the twin ponytails at her ears bounced adorably.
The hearts of both elders were nearly melted by the cuteness of the little one.
Butler Woods waited for the old master to finish giving the gifts, then hurriedly stepped forward and said, "Let’s have the meal first. After eating, we can continue unwrapping the presents. We’ve especially prepared dishes that Miss Sabrina loves and desserts that children enjoy." 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Grandpa Woods nodded in agreement, "Yes, let’s eat first, don’t go hungry, Zara, come, Grandpa will take you to wash your hands."
The little one didn’t feel shy and willingly took Grandpa’s hand, letting him lead her to wash her hands.
Sabrina watched this scene, her expression somewhat surprised.
After all, Zara is not like ordinary children, and she had been worried the little girl would not adjust well. Yet, the speed at which she became familiar was even faster than she anticipated.
This would have been impossible in the past.
Sabrina thought carefully and understood.
It’s probably because the warmth and kindness from Grandpa and Woods were genuine, without any ulterior motives, and the little one instinctively felt their goodwill, so she wasn’t resistant.
But what surprised Sabrina even more was that Grandpa showed no reservations at all...
At dinner, Grandpa was tenderly taking care of the little one, noticing what she liked to eat, and eagerly serving it to her, occasionally helping wipe her mouth, feeding her soup, taking care of her with utmost thoughtfulness.
The sensible little Zara tried to serve food to Grandpa and invited Woods, "Grandpa Woods, eat with us!"
The four-year-old charmed the two centenarians, bringing them sheer delight.
After dinner, Zara couldn’t wait to open her gifts, with Woods accompanying her.
Sabrina watched her daughter’s joyful expression and turned to Grandpa saying, "Thank you."
The thanks were brief but Grandpa understood what she meant to express.
He didn’t respond directly, instead giving her a look and said, "You think, just because I don’t like Jordan Hawthorne, I would also dislike Zara?
Humph, truly pegging me as an old-fashioned stubborn man, punishing the child for the father’s crimes?"
His tone carried a hint of dissatisfaction with his disciple’s assumption.
Sabrina, feeling helpless, replied, "That’s not what I meant."
She explained, "I just didn’t expect you to get along so well."
Grandpa, as if this was obvious, replied, "What’s unexpected? She’s your child, raised by you, her temperament surely resembles yours. When you were young and came to learn medicine, you were full of tears initially, and I comforted you back then.
Zara, this kid, seems even quieter and more obedient than you, how can I not handle a little kid with ease?"
Listening to Grandpa’s words, Sabrina reminisced about her childhood.
At first, she was indeed quite troublesome, often needing Grandpa’s patience and comfort.
She couldn’t help but smile, telling Grandpa, "Zara really likes you too, her situation is quite unique, hardly anyone can be easily accepted by her, yet she willingly takes your hand, serves you food..."
Upon hearing this, Grandpa felt pleased.
He raised his chin proudly, "Of course, I am her Grandfather!"
The pair sat together talking about the kid, inevitably discussing her condition.
"I heard from Woods, during her time with The Hawthorne Family, the situation was severe, often closing herself off. How is her treatment going now?"
Mentioning past events, Sabrina’s eyes turned cold.
"It was indeed very severe at that time because the doctor treating Zara then wasn’t qualified. She was brought by Brooke Sinclairs, a fake doctor who randomly prescribed medications for Zara. Luckily, I discovered it in time; otherwise, Zara might have continued to suffer at their hands..."
She recounted in detail to Grandpa, including later finding Jasper Fitzgerald and how Jasper treated Zara.
Grandpa, after hearing this, silently held another grudge against The Hawthorne Family.
He exclaimed angrily, "Bullying you is one thing, but The Hawthorne Family treats their own daughter and granddaughter like this, they have no conscience at all! Thankfully, you realized in time and took Zara away from that pit!"
Sabrina, seeing Grandpa’s anger, patted his shoulder, reassuringly said, "It’s all in the past, there’s no need to be angry anymore. We won’t have any contacts with them in the future."
Grandpa nodded in agreement with her words.
"Indeed, keeping distance is best."
He then said, "That psychologist you mentioned seems to be a decent person.
Last night, I observed his demeanor, he appears unusual, and he also protects you, unlike the heartless Jordan Hawthorne.
He was present when you had the incident and stood still witnessing it without any reaction.
Five years of marriage ties, even if divorced, seeing the ex-wife in danger should provoke some reaction, how utterly cold-blooded!"
At this point, Grandpa paused before looking at Sabrina, asking, "From what I see, you two seem quite familiar, you and that young man..."
He didn’t complete his sentence, but Sabrina seemed to understand what he intended to ask.
She replied amusingly, "We’re friends, not what you think.
Mr. Fitzgerald is very accomplished and has a prestigious background, there’s no possibility between us.
Moreover... I only want to focus on my career now, other aspects... I don’t want to think too much for the time being."
She had already been taught a hard lesson in romance.
Now she believes that women should never lose themselves for a man.
Even if someday a person does appear, she aims to be equally outstanding, standing shoulder to shoulder with them.
And not repeating past mistakes, relying on others only to end up with nothing.
Especially considering his excellence and prestigious status...
Being with him is something she can hardly imagine.
