Chapter 471: Chapter 470- Dead and gone

Abraham has lived for over three hundred years. All his life he has been searching for traces, trying to gather information about the era where true magic once commanded dominance.

Someone unable to use armaments because of his fragile body and laughable mana reserve, he had been tortured and bullied all his life. Not only by the outsider but his parents too.

Being hurt and wounded, he took a path which regarded him as a heretic and evil.

The path of true sorcery.

For years, he gathered evidence and materials, trying to know more about the God which solely stood his ground against his brethren to support what he believed to be the path of liberation.

Independent magic.

Abraham considered Nytharos to be the ultimate leader, a brave God for not sacrificing his belief just because a few worlds were destroyed during the Great War.

As such, Abraham has lived his life just so he could revive and serve the only being who has truly inspired him. Gave Abraham a reason to live and grow.

And now that he had the opportunity to truly be of any use to his God...

"I am not going down this easily!" He roared, black miasma exploding from his body, surrounding his target.

Adrian narrowed his eyes and took a few steps back.

His breathing was slightly rough and a deep gash on his left arm stung. But none of those injuries prevented him from keeping his eyes always trained on the ancient creature.

Abraham’s eyes turned red, teeth sharpening, muscles twitching and growing. He was slowly morphing into something inhumane.

Magical energy surged higher and higher, making it difficult to breathe.

Adrian took out his axe from the Inventory, runes glowing on it.

Abraham took a step forward and the ground fractured. But his second step didn’t damage the floor, because—

DHAK

He reappeared right before Adrian, fist extended forward which Adrian barely caught with his left hand.

"Agh.." the human groaned, the strain on his arms too much to bear so he slid the axe down his grip, his fingers touching the neck of the handle before he slashed the blade, aiming for his neck.

CLANG

Adrian’s eyes widened as the axe bounced off rather than wounding the man.

Abraham growled, "It’s over for you, Runesmith." He reeled back his head and Adrian instinctively pulled his face back, but that didn’t prevent the assault—

CRACK

Adrian’s head buzzed as Abraham struck his head just above Adrian’s brows, making him stagger back.

Blood ran down Adrian’s nose, blurring his vision for a brief second. That was all Abraham needed.

The creature stepped in, driving a knee straight into Adrian’s stomach.

THUD

Air burst out of Adrian’s lungs as his body folded slightly. Before he could recover, Abraham grabbed his shoulder and slammed him into the ground.

The floor cracked beneath Adrian’s back.

Pain exploded through his spine, but he rolled instantly, barely avoiding Abraham’s claw tearing through the space where his head had been a moment ago.

Adrian pushed himself up, axe sweeping low in a wide arc aimed at Abraham’s legs.

CLANG

The blade sparked again, but this time the force pushed Abraham half a step back.

Adrian didn’t waste it.

He vanished.

DHAK

He reappeared above Abraham, axe raised, runes blazing brighter than before.

The axe came down with full force.

Abraham crossed his arms just in time.

BOOM

The impact sent a shockwave through the air. Dust and broken stone burst outward. Abraham was driven into the ground knee-first, but his arms held.

He snarled and twisted his body, grabbing the axe handle with one claw and ripping it sideways.

Adrian was yanked forward violently.

Abraham slammed his forehead into Adrian’s face.

CRACK

Adrian felt something break. He flew backward, rolling across the floor before stopping near a shattered boulder.

He coughed, blood splattering the ground.

Before he could rise, Abraham was already there.

A clawed foot stomped down.

Adrian teleported at the last instant, appearing behind Abraham again.

He swung.

DANGH

The axe bounced once more, but this time the runes flared violently, grinding against Abraham’s skin. A shallow cut opened across his back.

Black blood spilled.

Abraham roared in rage.

He spun around, tail whipping out of nowhere.

WHAM

It struck Adrian across the chest, sending him crashing into a boulder. Stone crumbled as Adrian slumped down.

Abraham advanced slowly, every step heavy.

"Your tricks are slowing," he mocked. "Your body can’t keep up."

Adrian forced himself up, chest burning, legs shaking. He wiped blood from his eyes.

"Maybe," he muttered, tightening his grip. "But you still bleed."

He rushed forward instead of teleporting.

Abraham’s claw came down.

Adrian ducked under it and slammed his shoulder into Abraham’s ribs.

The impact barely moved him—but it was enough.

Adrian twisted and drove the axe upward.

CLANG

Again repelled—but the runes screamed.

Abraham hissed, stepping back as cracks spread across his hardened skin.

Anger twisted his face.

He raised both hands, miasma surging and compressing into his palms. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Adrian felt the air distort.

He tried to teleport—

But his mana stuttered.

Abraham lunged.

Adrian barely raised his gauntlet in time as a blast of corrupted energy slammed into him.

BOOM

He was thrown backward, crashing across the ground.

Smoke rose from his gauntlet. The metal glowed red.

Abraham didn’t allow a moment of rest and jumped high, his left claw pulled back, ready to slice his head off.

But—

SWISH

The claw slashed through open air as Adrian vanished from the spot, appearing right behind Abraham, his axe held above his head.

Abraham reacted by jumping forward, but Adrian still swung the axe, and teleported right where Abraham was about to land—

DANGH

The axe repelled this time too, but due to the use of runes and brute force, it inflicted a cut on Abraham’s head.

The beast snarled as it held Adrian’s wrist before he could recoil and pulled him closer.

Adrian released the axe and grabbed Abraham’s throat before he could headbutt him again.

Abraham grinned before his mouth parted unnaturally wide, a purple energy gathering.

Adrian tried teleporting away, but, "Huh?!" His mana was disturbed once again, this time he was sure someone influenced this disturbance, leaving him exposed to the attack.

"Ghaaaaa!!" A stream of violet energy erupted from his maw.

Adrian gritted his teeth as he brought his gauntlet clad hand down just in time and somehow shielded his face.

Abraham wasn’t showing any sign of stopping or slowing down and Adrian could feel the gauntlet was already allowing the heat to reach his skin.

’Fuck,’

Just then, he summoned his revolver in his left hand which Abraham held and shot whatever bullet was inside into the inhumane’s chest.

DHAK

The bullet didn’t have much distance to travel so it erupted instantly, shattering like glass and making Abraham stagger back just by its raw firepower.

Adrian got his hand liberated so he instantly backed away.

His gauntlet was completely burnt, the back part of his hand was charred too.

Adrian gritted his teeth and removed the useless gauntlet.

Abraham snickered as he looked down where the bullet struck him.

"Just a scratch...I believe that favorite toy of yours is completely useless now."

Adrian didn’t answer. He rolled his shoulders, cracked his neck, and summoned a second, smaller axe into his left hand. The runes on this one burned a dull crimson.

Abraham cracked his knuckles. "You still have some fight left? Good."

He lunged again.

Adrian met him head-on this time.

Abraham swung a brutal right hook. Adrian ducked under it, slashing upward with the crimson axe. The blade bit into Abraham’s forearm, drawing black blood.

Abraham roared and stomped the ground. A shockwave of dark energy exploded outward, forcing Adrian to leap back.

The moment Adrian landed, Abraham was already there—teleporting again. A knee came flying toward Adrian’s stomach.

Adrian crossed both axes in front of him and took the blow. The impact drove him back several meters, boots skidding across stone.

Abraham didn’t stop. He charged again, claws flashing in quick succession—left, right, left, overhead.

Adrian parried the first two with his axes, then rolled sideways to avoid the third. The fourth claw gouged deep lines into the floor where he’d stood a second ago.

Adrian came up swinging. The crimson axe caught Abraham across the ribs. A spray of dark blood followed.

Abraham snarled but before he could charge,

**STAB STAB STAB STAB STAB**

Several sharp things stabbed his back, making him stagger back.

Abeaham’s breath was caught, his transformation fading as he turned to look at Adrian.

What he saw made Abraham kneel on the ground.

More than one hundred blades, axes, spears levitated all behind Adrian, all pointed at Abraham.

Adrian’s eyes were glowing blue as he stared at the ancient foe like he was already dead in his eyes.

Abraham chuckled and before another blade could stab him, he dropped on the ground.

Dead and gone.
