Return of the Mythic Bloodline-Chapter 374: Nymeria’s Memories
Light footsteps echoed through the bright hallway of the castle as Nymeria walked along with her wardens. Her silver hair shone under the luminescence of the Soul Stones embedded in the ceiling, while her serene face carried its usual cold, expressionless visage.
She stopped before the large doors of the room at the far end of the castle.
Before opening the door, she paused for a moment and said, turning to her wardens, "You all are dismissed."
The wardens bowed and turned to leave. Once their footsteps faded into the distance, Nymeria opened the door just enough for herself to slip inside and locked it the moment she entered.
"So you are here," she murmured.
The cold expression vanished from her face as her gaze fell upon Taranis in Lucifer’s disguise, sitting on a chair in the dimly lit room. The shadows cascading over his blindfolded face tried to hide the distress there but failed miserably.
Nymeria walked forward gracefully, a gentle smile on her face. She grabbed the empty chair from the opposite side of the table and placed it beside Taranis.
"What happened to your eyes?" she asked, softly caressing the blindfold covering his eyes with her fingers.
"Why?" Taranis muttered in a low tone, clenching his fists around the armrests of the chair.
"I missed you, Taranis," Nymeria murmured, ignoring his question as she moved her fingers from the blindfold to his cheeks.
Taranis grabbed her wrist tightly and demanded again, his voice turning sharper, "I asked why, damn it?"
Nymeria flinched at how tightly he was holding her wrist, yet the smile did not vanish from her face.
"I have a lot to tell you," she said, ignoring the pain in her wrist. "Please look at me when you listen to my story."
Taranis loosened his grip. Visible red marks from his fingers remained on her pale skin before he removed the blindfold from his eyes.
It had already been three days since he had lost his eyesight, so most of his vision had already returned. He slowly opened his crimson eyes and found Nymeria looking at him with a warm gaze.
His heart skipped a beat when he saw her serene face after two years. Only then did he realize how much he had longed to see her. For a moment, he thought of abandoning all the questions he had for her and simply embracing her in his arms.
"What is the meaning of this marriage?" Taranis asked, his voice calmer now.
Nymeria leaned closer to Taranis and said with a playful smile, "I learned a skill that allows me to share my memories with another person. I only learned it yesterday. My control is not very good yet, so there might be some embarrassing things I might have done. Ignore them when you read my memories, hmm?"
Before Taranis could say anything, she rose from the chair and sat on his lap. Placing her hands on his shoulders, she touched her forehead to his, making sure that the slit mark on her forehead touched the mark behind Taranis’s mask.
A faint white glow appeared at the point of contact, and a flood of memories surged into his mind. Memories that belonged to Nymeria.
Ding...
"Invasion of foreign memories into the Host’s brain detected.
Would you like to read the memories?
[Yes] [No]
Note: By pressing the [No] button, the mental defense system will be activated, blocking the memories from entering the Host’s brain."
"Read the memories," Taranis muttered inwardly.
Taranis’s vision began to distort. His hearing grew distant, and for a moment everything turned silent.
The next moment, Taranis found himself standing at the zenith of a mountain.
After looking around, he remembered the place. It was the peak where Robert lived after his retirement.
At the zenith, Nymeria stood outside a wooden hut. Dark circles hung beneath her eyes, and she looked as if all life had been drained from them.
After a moment, an old man walked out with the help of a stick. His eyes were swollen, and due to his age he looked as if he could die at any moment.
"What brings you here, Snow Goddess?" Robert asked in a low, broken voice. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Nymeria moved her hand through the empty air and pulled out a pillar of ice that had been perfectly concealed by reflecting the surrounding light.
She formed a series of hand signs, breaking the outer shell of the pillar. Inside was revealed a coffin of ice in which Aestra’s body lay.
"Mother?" Taranis murmured, a sharp piercing pain stabbing his heart at the sight of his mother.
Robert’s eyes widened and his body trembled when he saw Aestra’s body.
Nymeria moved the ice coffin toward him and pleaded with a deep bow, "She is alive, Master Robert. The ice barrier will vanish in two days. Please protect her."
"Th the Queen is alive?" Robert mumbled, slowly moving closer to the ice coffin.
He fell to his knees before Aestra’s body, tears falling from his eyes unknowingly. After crying for a few minutes, he asked Nymeria, his gaze sharpening, "Did the Thunderbanes really fall to the demons?"
"Yes," Nymeria replied before continuing, "Do not ask anything else from me."
The vision suddenly distorted, and now Taranis found himself in the middle of a market.
His body was translucent and he could not interact with the surroundings. It was as if he were watching a realistic movie.
His eyes scanned the area, and it did not take him long to find the owner of these visions.
Nymeria.
Instead of her usual silken white robe, she was wearing a plain green robe of a commoner. Her white hair was tied into a bun, which along with her face was hidden beneath a large veiled hat.
But what shocked Taranis was the person beside her.
Ignis.
Wearing his demonic mask, he walked side by side with her while the empire’s knights followed the duo closely from behind.
"You are a feisty one," Ignis chuckled in a low mocking tone. "You took your time to meet me. You know I have been waiting for you for the past six months since you returned from the Sentinel Line."
After a brief pause he muttered, his voice turning heavy, "I do not like waiting."
Nymeria did not react in the slightest. She continued walking beside him with an unreadable expression, as if she were not a human but a doll programmed only to walk.
"I am sorry," Nymeria replied after a moment, emotionless.
"Well, it is alright. I am a generous man," Ignis laughed.
After a couple of minutes, they stopped before a building. Ignis began moving inside, but Nymeria froze in place.
"Come inside, dear. I already said I do not like waiting," Ignis said. His voice was calm but carried a hidden warning beneath it.
Nymeria’s brows twitched. Her fists tightened until her knuckles turned white. Then her expression returned to normal as she walked inside the building.
A raw, primal fury rose within Taranis. His eyes widened in shock, his whole body trembling with anger and nervousness.
Because the building Nymeria had entered with Ignis was none other than a brothel.
