Return Of The Supreme Beast Tamer-Chapter 196: Pathetic
In less than a minute, a profound, almost supernatural silence descended upon the Dimensional Zone. The only smell was the faint, metallic scent of ozone and the sharp stench of burnt, dissolving flesh—the residue of over a hundred high-level monsters vaporized in an instant. Not a single enemy—monster or rival team—survived the attack, which had appeared almost effortless.
'What level is Christopher truly on?!' Tony thought, a tremor of pure awe replacing his usual arrogance. The terrifying reality was that his leader was operating on a plane he couldn't even fathom.
'Such overwhelming power… Thank goodness I'm only here to hold his bags,' Mitchell thought, his confidence now entirely reliant on his leader's terrifying might. His ambition hadn't vanished, but it was now utterly subservient to Christopher's presence.
'I actually tried to make an enemy of a monster like this?!' Mariana was utterly frozen, her ambition dissolving into a cold mixture of fear and reluctant admiration. Her instinct for self-preservation screamed at her to never cross him again.
".....?"
Stella, the quietest member, remained speechless, her reserved demeanor cracking under the pressure of the moment. She watched her leader with a widening sense of reverence, the seeds of true faith in his power taking root.
Advika, however, simply smiled. It was a soft, intensely proprietorial expression. 'That is to be expected from my fiancé.' Her worldview was reaffirmed: Christopher was the ultimate standard.
[+110,561 Points]
The massive point increase—an all-time record, over a hundred thousand points from a single strike—not only stunned his teammates but sent a seismic shockwave of horror throughout the entire Dimensional Zone. Even the commentators, broadcasting across the three continents, and the entire global audience were dumbfounded.
"This young man is a goddamn monster."
This singular, unifying thought was shared by every soul watching the global broadcast.
Unaware of the panic he'd caused, and seemingly uncaring, Christopher simply gave a gentle yawn, closed his eyes once more, and patiently waited atop his majestic, equally bored Death.
The game was over. The competitors simply hadn't realized it yet.
___
[On the Arena.]
"Wow!! It seems we already have our winner! There is no way someone can take over the Golden Dragon Team!!" Bianca proclaimed with an undeniable smile.
In the VIP box, Ethan threw his head back and laughed heartily. "Hahaha! My son is more powerful than this! Look at him, he is sleeping! That's how easy this is." He enjoyed the show with an owner's pride.
"Yes. That's Christopher to you." Amara slowly nodded, her calm demeanor reinforcing the idea that this level of dominance was just routine for their family.
Adonis and Katherine looked at one another, sharing a small chuckle at their parent's over-the-top pride. Their confidence was quieter, but just as absolute.
___
The first preliminary round didn't last long, ending after two hours of staggered chaos.
WHOOSH!!
The sixteen winning teams materialized on the main competitive arena stage, while the losing teams appeared outside the immediate viewing area.
Christopher opened his eyes and moved his gaze to a newly arrived team—the Dark Soul team. He raised an eyebrow slightly:
"Why do I feel something is fundamentally wrong about that team?" he muttered, a vague sense of unease disturbing his calm.
"Oh, that's the Dark Soul team," Tony said, folding his arms. "I don't know them either, but they're incredibly powerful. They took second place, impressive."
"Their leader is supposedly even stronger than a Supreme level fighter, though they were holding back. They will be a tough opponent if we meet them," Tony added, trying to sound knowledgeable.
Christopher merely nodded, turning his attention to Bianca, whose platform descended from the sky.
"Congratulations to the sixteen teams who made it to the real competitive round! The Golden Dragon Team, with an unprecedented score of 200,689 points, takes first place! The second place holder is Dark Soul! Gaining 137,004 points! Now, let's start the main tournament! You will fight one another, and once a team is kicked out of the arena, that team is eliminated!" Bianca's energy was infectious.
"With her words, only eight teams will make it past this stage," Advika murmured, her mind already running the tournament brackets.
"This is even more serious than the academic competition," Mitchell said with a smile, his eyes moving around the intimidating arena. "There are a lot of powerful teams here... But we can do this."
The group collectively nodded, their faith solidified by Christopher's performance.
Bianca moved her gaze around with a bright smile. "Before we begin, I should reveal the third place winner's rewards!" Instantly, all the audience and competitors fixed their attention on her.
"The third place prize is One Million Dollars and Two Sky Stage Beast Eggs!" she yelled, and the audience instantly erupted into a deafening uproar.
"Wow!! Two Sky Stage Beast Eggs! That's more valuable than gold! Anyone with those eggs can establish a major Powerhouse family!" someone shouted amongst the crowd, referencing the importance of high-tier life forms beasts.
"This is the third place reward? What about the second place? Or the first?!" an audience asked in awe.
"I can't wait to see this round," a spectator added.
"Same here!"
___
In the VIP section, Maxim smiled grimly. "It seems the leaders of the three continents went all out on the prize pool."
"That is expected. But I just want to see the first place reward, that's why I am truly here," Howard said, folding his arms, his eyes only focused on the potential ultimate prize.
___
"Wow! Two Sky Stage Beasts... I would have asked brother to take it, but I prefer the First Place!" Adonis said with a wide, greedy smile.
"I thought you were stupid, but your ambition might be catching up with your power, I think." Katherine said with an eye roll.
"....?!!"
Adonis raised an eyebrow, but remained silent, accepting the backhanded praise.
__
"Now!! Let me introduce the rules of this round!!" Bianca's voice cut through the noise.
"In this round, use of your Beast is forbidden! Furthermore, any Celestial Boosts derived from your beast partnership are also illegal. If caught, you and your team will be disqualified!" She smiled sweetly, then continued:
"You are allowed to use weapons and Skills. And a warning: No Killing. If a team surrenders, your team wins. Note, competitors! Before you can win, the whole opponent team must be eliminated! Anyone who falls from the arena stage, loses!"
Her platform ascended, and simultaneously, the grand stage rose from the ground at the center of the huge arena.
"The first teams will be shown on the screen! Start!" she commanded.
DING!
Everyone turned to the massive screen as the team names blurred rapidly, then slowed to a stop.
"Dark Soul and Sword Inferno!" Bianca yelled, lowering her gaze to the arena. "Please get on the stage!"
Darkness and her team of five, cloaked in dark armor, walked forward. They were met by the Sword Inferno team, who had taken tenth place in the preliminary round, their gaze fixed on them.
"Start!!"
The Sword Inferno team instantly got on guard, staring at their opponent with complete seriousness, ready for a brutal six-on-six skirmish.
"Leave these guys to me." A member of the Dark Soul team, Death-flame, stepped forward. A sword appeared in his hand, its metal a dull, obsidian black.
"Oh?! It seems only one member from the Dark Soul team wants to challenge the whole Sword Inferno team," Bianca said, slightly shocked by the audacity.
"So arrogant! You think you can take all six of us down?!" The leader of Sword Inferno, a dark-skinned man, shouted, drawing his own sword.
"You won't stand a second under our combined blade!" another member added, their confidence fueled by the six-to-one advantage.
Death-flame moved his gaze on them, his eyes utterly cold, and slowly raised his sword into the air. Before everyone's eyes, searing, dark-red celestial flames instantly enveloped the blade. With one single, lazy slash, he sent a massive, terrifying energy blade toward the group.
"What the hell??!!" The dark-skinned man quickly raised his sword and plunged it into the ground, desperately creating a defensive wall of earth.
"These guys already lost." Advika said shaking her head lightly.
"How can you tell?" Mariana asked, turning to face Advika, utterly lost.
"Not to speak of the level difference. This guy's flames is almost as strong as mine... They already lose." Advika answered calmly.
"Pathetic," Death-flame muttered, his voice barely audible. His flaming energy blade hit the earth defense, shattering it instantly as if it were glass. The blade kept moving, smashing into all six members of the Sword Inferno team, throwing them clear off the stage. They landed hard on the ground below and instantly vomited mouthfuls of blood.
"....?!!"
Everyone was stunned speechless. The whole fight had lasted less than three seconds.
"This?" Bianca was stunned, but quickly regained her professional composure. "Wow!! Dark Soul won this round!! They will advance to the next stage!!" she yelled.
"Weak." Death-flame cleaned his sword, sheathed it, turned, and walked away, his gaze indifferent, as if he had just dealt with an irritating pest.
"Okay, let's get ready for the next teams!!" Bianca yelled, and everyone turned their heads to the screen again, watching as two team names came to a stop.
"The next teams are..."
