Chapter 11 - 11 – Crimson Masks and Silver Eyes

Some guilds trained warriors.

Crimson Dawn trained monsters.

Rael's clone, known here as Cain, had spent two weeks rising through their ranks—posing as an E-rank support-type. Weak. Meek. Harmless.

That's exactly what they wanted him to be.

He had already memorized the halls of their underground compound, marked each escape route, and tracked down four of Damon Vale's inner circle. But today wasn't recon.

Today was war.

"Cain," the guild officer barked. "You're late. Selene's briefing is starting."

Selene.

S-rank Ice Empress. The youngest to ever conquer a Tower floor solo.

She wasn't one of the betrayers—but she had fought alongside Rael in his past life. She was colder now, sharper, and more dangerous than he remembered.

He entered the war room with silent steps, dozens of guild members saluting her at once.

Selene stood at the head of the table, her silver hair tied back, a longcoat of blue-stitched leather flowing behind her.

Projected above the table was a frozen image of Floor 51's Guardian—the same one Rael once killed with his bare hands.

"The Tower's shifting," she said, her voice calm but commanding. "This Guardian shouldn't be showing up again. Not unless someone has reset the cycle."

Rael's clone raised an eyebrow. Reset the cycle? That was ancient Tower knowledge. Forbidden.

Selene turned to the crowd. "Someone out there... knows the Tower like it's breathing. We suspect it's not a guild, but a lone actor. Possibly a high-level clone user."

Her gaze flicked toward him.

Cain didn't move.

She walked closer, stopping just short of him. Her silver eyes locked with his for half a breath too long.

"I've seen you before," she murmured. "Haven't I?"

Cain forced a smile. "Only on patrol, Commander."

Her stare lingered.

She knows. Not who I am... but that something is off.

Rael had to be careful.

Suddenly, the chamber door burst open.

A scout ran in, panting. "Zone 14's raid squad just vanished! No bodies. No signs. Only a black mark carved into the earth."

Selene's voice was ice. "What mark?"

The scout held out a photo.

A single word, burned into the ground with Tower fire:

"VALE."

Selene froze.

The clone almost smiled.

Damon Vale's time is coming.
