Return to the City: The Strongest King-Chapter 1907 - 1811: Roadblock (Part 2)
Capítulo 1907: Chapter 1811: Roadblock (Part 2)
“I’m stuck in traffic on the road, might arrive a bit late.”
“Alright, no worries, I’ll wait for you. Sister Xiaoru, Yiyi, Yingying, and Su’er are all here.”
Qiao Yutong quietly listened to Song Xiaodong talking, feeling something indescribable inside.
The child was injured, yet Song Xiaodong did not blame Li Sijie, but comforted her instead.
Qiao Yutong had heard all sorts of stories about men who only care about their kids and not their wives. After the wife gives birth, relatives gather around the child, while the wife suffers severe bleeding without anyone noticing, especially for someone like Song Xiaodong who has many wives, resembling an ancient emperor, where the children will compete for the title of Crown Prince, and whose status is much higher than their wives.
Looking at the roadblock ahead, Qiao Yutong made a sudden decision.
“Forget it, I was wrong last time, let this serve as my apology. I’m a police officer, and it seems I must break some traffic rules and confront the authorities with force! Mr. Song, if your car gets damaged, you’d better pay for the repairs yourself, I can’t afford it!” Having said that, Qiao Yutong slammed on the gas pedal.
Song Xiaodong’s luxury sports car emitted a crisp roar, and Qiao Yutong’s driving skills were remarkable, performing an impressive “tire burn” for the stunned traffic police, leaving behind a cloud of smoke and the scent of burnt rubber. Before anyone could react, the car had already smashed the roadblock and quickly vanished from the deserted closed road.
Chapter 1812 This Time It’s My Turn
“The bumper got bent, Thirty thousand, the tire burned out, Five hundred thousand!” The car accelerated swiftly, pinning both firmly in their seats under the pressure of acceleration, as Qiao Yutong drove and Song Xiaodong reported the damage costs.
“You don’t need to report it, I can’t afford it, I’ll repay you with my body!” Qiao Yutong, like an adrenaline-filled professional racer, focused wholeheartedly on driving.
“Hey, Deputy Director Qiao!”
“Someone’s forcing their way through, chase them down!”
“Chase them? That’s the Deputy Director, and the Deputy Director is just driving for the person inside! They’re all big shots, who’s going to mess with them?” the traffic cop said, fiercely slapping a young staff member’s head.
“Do not, who would dare, you’ll end up throwing me in jail!” Song Xiaodong’s expression finally loosened.
“Yes, who would dare, who’s really gonna throw you in jail! It’s a meal invitation, an apology, and now I, the Deputy Director, have to drive for you.” Qiao Yutong also started joking.
“Hahahahaha, Deputy Director bursting through a closed lane, confronting law enforcement with force, how amusing!” Just thinking about it made Song Xiaodong laugh.
“Stop laughing, you have great divine skills, you fear no one, you can even ignore the Vice Mayor’s face, while I still have to work under them!” Considering the consequences, Qiao Yutong felt a bit afraid.
“Deputy Director Qiao doesn’t need to be modest, even I dare arrest you, the Vice Mayor wouldn’t dare mess with you.” Song Xiaodong replied.
“I arrested you because…”
“Love turned to hate.” Qiao Yutong swallowed the last four words.
Qiao Yutong drove smoothly, until the bend around near the Triumph Home Grand Hotel, when a motorcade came head-on with Song Xiaodong’s direction.
Qiao Yutong was driving normally, while Vice Mayor Han Yang was receiving foreign guests, counter-flowing with road closure to reach destination quickest.
Han Yang and Zhang Dongfang talked and laughed in the back seat of the official car, suddenly spotting a vehicle straight ahead.
Han Yang’s face instantly turned dark, but didn’t erupt in front of the guests.
Upon careful inspection, it was a luxury car.
The single line was somewhat narrow, with cars heading toward each other slowing down.
Han Yang slowly rolled down the car window.
Song Xiaodong saw Han Yang roll down his window, so he rolled his down too.
The two cars approached one another, passing on opposite sides.
Han Yang and Song Xiaodong each leaned back against their seatbacks like sculptures, stared at each other for three seconds, and then drove off in opposite directions.
Han Yang looked at Song Xiaodong with a gaze that carried authority without anger.
Song Xiaodong looked at Han Yang with a relaxed and natural gaze.
“Arrogant, challenging the newly appointed Vice Mayor, others complaining their troubles are burning you.” Qiao Yutong teased.
“Arrogant, the newly appointed Vice Mayor is challenging me, don’t let the troubles burn himself.” Song Xiaodong mimicked Qiao Yutong’s tone.
“Being improper.” Qiao Yutong rolled her eyes at Song Xiaodong.
Qiao Yutong drove Song Xiaodong to the hospital.
“How’s it going?” Song Xiaodong asked the waiting group outside the operating room: Li Sijie, Song Xiaoru, Xiao Yingying, Lin Su’er, Sun Yiyi, and Chu Xianling.
“They’re stitching it now; the physician hasn’t come out yet.” Li Sijie bit her thumbnail, eyes red, replied.
“It’s alright, it’s okay.” Song Xiaodong embraced Li Sijie and kissed her hair.
Li Sijie cuddled in Song Xiaodong’s embrace, bursting into tears again.
“Alright, alright, don’t cry, don’t cry.”
“Deputy Director Qiao is here too.” Song Xiaoru greeted Qiao Yutong warmly.
Xiao Yingying, Sun Yiyi, Lin Su’er and Chu Xianling looked at Qiao Yutong with an unfriendly attitude, so Song Xiaoru initiated the greeting.
“Yes, Sister Xiaoru, Xiaodong drank with our director, the director had a driver, I didn’t drink, so I drove Song Xiaodong back.” Qiao Yutong replied.
“Thank you, Deputy Director Qiao. Yes, no drink-driving.” Song Xiaoru responded.
“How long has the surgery been going?” Qiao Yutong asked.
“Not long after they entered, the physician said it’s nothing serious, just superficial injuries.” Song Xiaoru answered.
“Alright, stop crying, the Deputy Director is here too.” Song Xiaodong comforted Li Sijie.
Li Sijie noticed Qiao Yutong; however, once Song Xiaodong embraced her, she couldn’t bear it, only remembering others were present after his reminder.
