Capítulo 1931: Chapter 1831: Headache

“Staff?” Song Xiaodong called out for staff everywhere.

“Hello, sir, what can I do for you?” Soon, a polite young man in formal attire answered his call.

“Hello, we’ll take this one.” Song Xiaodong pointed to the porcelain in the display case and said.

“I’m really sorry, sir, but the exhibits here are not for sale yet.” The young man said to Song Xiaodong with a hint of apology.

“Since the price has been announced, why can’t we buy it?” Song Xiaodong said to the young man with some dissatisfaction.

“It’s like this, sir, this price is the starting price for the auction. Soon there will be a porcelain art auction here. If you’re interested, you can bid for it later.” The young man explained to Song Xiaodong.

“By the way, sir and madam really have a good eye. This porcelain is one of the highlights of tonight’s auction!” The young man didn’t forget to compliment Song Xiaodong and Chu Xianling.

Coincidentally, Zhang Dongfang and his group also arrived in front of the porcelain exhibit.

“This one, I like it too.” Zhang Dongfang pointed to the porcelain and stood in front of Song Xiaodong.

“Sir, if you want it, see you at the auction later.” Zhang Dongfang tilted his head, provoking Song Xiaodong.

“Alright, how about this? Let’s have a bidding competition. Whoever gives up first has to leave Minghe, deal?” Song Xiaodong said boldly, not giving Zhang Dongfang any chance to back down.

“You…” Zhang Dongfang didn’t expect that Song Xiaodong would outright tell him to get lost.

“This… Mr. Zhang, it’s just a piece of porcelain. Later, I’ll ask Deputy Mayor Han to find you a few more. Let’s head back.” Secretary Xu realized things were going south and quickly tried to pull Zhang Dongfang away, giving Song Xiaodong a wink.

Song Xiaodong pretended not to see, blocking Zhang Dongfang’s path.

“What, you don’t dare?” Song Xiaodong asked Zhang Dongfang.

“Fine, young and arrogant because of your local connections and status. Today, I’ll make you leave Minghe and see if you can be this cocky elsewhere!” Zhang Dongfang said and walked past Song Xiaodong.

“I’ll be waiting for you at the auction. Don’t sneak away!” Song Xiaodong turned around and taunted Zhang Dongfang again.

“See if there’s anything else you like?” Song Xiaodong turned around and lovingly spoke to Chu Xianling.

Chu Xianling dragged Song Xiaodong around for another look, but still liked the Phoenix Tail Zun the most.

“My grandfather likes things with subtle colors like this.” Chu Xianling took Song Xiaodong back to the exhibit.

“Alright, I’ll buy it for you.” Song Xiaodong said to Chu Xianling.

“Oh, don’t waste your money. In a bidding war, we might end up paying multiple times over. It’s not worth it!” Chu Xianling said, feeling a bit distressed about the money.

“Hey, it doesn’t matter, anything for your grandfather is worth the price.” Song Xiaodong said to Chu Xianling.

“Xiaodong!” Chu Xianling, unconcerned if anyone else was around, threw herself entirely into Song Xiaodong’s arms.

Soon, they heard the auction host announcing over the exhibit hall’s loudspeaker, “Ladies and gentlemen, the Minghe City Porcelain Exchange Collection Auction is now starting. Participating guests, please proceed to the auction hall on the second floor.”

Song Xiaodong led Chu Xianling upstairs. When they entered the auction hall, it was already full, and two small business owners in the back row quickly offered them seats.

“Mr. Song, madam, please have a seat.”

Song Xiaodong and Chu Xianling sat down.

Zhang Dongfang was still surrounded by Secretary Xu and others, with only his head visible in the front row of the auction.

Secretary Xu turned around and noticed Song Xiaodong and Chu Xianling sitting in the corner.

Secretary Xu made eye contact with Song Xiaodong.

Secretary Xu pretended not to see but turned and whispered a few words to Zhang Dongfang before leaving the auction hall.

Song Xiaodong didn’t need to guess, knowing he was off to inform Deputy Mayor Han.

Secretary Xu walked out of the exhibit hall and called Deputy Mayor Han.

Deputy Mayor Han was having dinner with Beishan District leaders discussing the development area when he received Secretary Xu’s call and rushed outside to answer.

“Deputy Mayor, there’s a situation.”

“What’s wrong?”

“Song Xiaodong also went to our porcelain art exchange and provoked Zhang Dongfang. The two want to bid on a piece of porcelain and whoever gives up first has to leave Minghe.”

“This is nonsense…” Han Yang’s head started to hurt.

“How did he know about this?”

“I don’t know either…”

“How could you not prevent him from entering?” Han Yang lost his temper and yelled into the phone.

“There was no time to react, besides I didn’t dare stop him…”

“Ah, dealing with one dragon from out of town was already enough trouble, now the local snakes aren’t cooperating…”

“Alright, just stay sharp. Just make sure they don’t start fighting. I’m busy having dinner, so that’s it for now.”

Han Yang sighed and returned to the table with a smile.

Secretary Xu also felt a headache, hung up the phone, and returned to the auction hall, where the auction had already started.

“Hello everyone, this piece is the first exhibit in our auction today.”

The host pulled back the curtain covering the exhibit, revealing a porcelain vase.

“This is a gilded famille rose treasure moon vase with birds and flowers, priced at 1.5 million!”

The seats immediately buzzed, with small and large business owners whispering to each other.

Next to them, the antique appraisal expert began to explain: “This gilded famille rose vase, the lid is intact, which is extremely rare. It’s a piece of famille rose porcelain from the Qianlong Period, with rich colors and bold use, adorned with gilding, looking splendid and luxurious. It’s an upper-grade collectible!”
