Chapter 89: About boyfriend

At 8 p.m., Valerie was sitting relaxed on the couch with Daniel beside her, snacking while facing the TV showing kid’s movies. Occasionally, the girl would also snack, so relaxed, as if she didn’t want to think about her problems anymore.

"Umm, I love it!" mumbled Daniel as he continued to eat.

"It’s made from potatoes, Mama will make it for you if you like," replied Valerie while eating, hugging Daniel from the side.

"You don’t have to make it, you can buy it at the minimarket..."

"Hum, it’s true, but it would be better if I make it. Healthier because it doesn’t contain preservatives..."

"What are preservatives?" Daniel asked, looking up at his mother.

"Um..." Valerie took another potato snack. "It’s something that makes food last longer without getting moldy or spoiled. It’s not harmful to our health, but if we keep eating food like that constantly, it’s also not good for our health... So maybe we can make it ourselves some time."

Daniel fell silent and suddenly stopped eating.

"Um... Will I get sick if I eat too much of it?" he asked, looking at the potato snack in his hand.

"Yes.."

"I won’t..." He suddenly handed the potato snack to his mother’s lap.

Valerie frowned and laughed in amazement at Daniel. "Are you scared, Baby?"

Daniel shook his head. "If I get sick, mama will be sad..." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Oh, baby..." Valerie immediately hugged Daniel. "You’re a good boy, you don’t want to make Mama sad..."

Daniel felt comfortable in her embrace. "I don’t like seeing mommy cry... It’s bad, I’ll be sad too," he said with his cute voice.

Valerie fell silent, suddenly feeling sad, and guilty for often crying in front of Daniel he didn’t like it and it made him sad. Even now he was willing to stop eating the snack even though he liked it so much because he didn’t want to get sick and make her sad.

Daniel felt bored and stuffy, pushing his mother away until she released her hug.

"Good boy," Valerie whispered with a smile, stroking Daniel’s cheek. "Thanks for caring... But... You won’t get sick just by finishing one packet of this snack. You’ll be fine, you can eat it again," she continued, taking the potato snack from her lap.

"Are you sure?"

"Hum....take it!"

With a smile, Daniel immediately took the potato snack again and devoured it while letting his mother lift him onto her lap.

"Valerie..."

The voice made Valerie turn to the right, finding Hannah just coming out of the room looking quite different from usual; She was wearing gray pants and a cream top, white shoes, slightly prominent makeup, and a gray bag, letting her hair loose.

"Are you going somewhere?" she asked.

"Um...." Hannah looked nervous.

"You look different..." Valerie seemed amazed.

Hannah tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "I... I’m going to see my boyfriend. Maybe I’ll... I’ll stay at his apartment tonight," she said nervously.

"Wow!"

"I don’t want to disappoint him, so... Let me be with him tonight. I promise I’ll come back early in the morning..."

"Hannah..." Valerie interrupted Hannah’s sentence and stood up after putting Daniel down from her lap. "You can come back whenever you want... You can be with him for as long as you want... OK go, you have the right to have fun." She said as she approached Hannah.

Hannah nodded.

"But..." Valerie noticed Hannah as if thinking about something. "Don’t forget to introduce him to me someday... And take care of yourself when you’re giving yourself fully to him. I think you understand what I mean..."

Hannah just stayed silent with her innocent gaze.

"Birth control..." Valerie raised her eyebrows. "I know men won’t be able to restrain themselves when they’re with the girl they love. So... you have to anticipate so that nothing happens that could ruin your plans." She warned cautiously, as if she knew what would happen between Hannah and her boyfriend.

Hannah immediately smiled shyly. "You’re thinking too far ..."

Valerie chuckled and patted Hannah’s arm. "I have experience!"

Hannah grinned.

"Go on!" Valerie pushed Hannah. "Don’t come back before he lets you go!"

Hannah just laughed as she walked away, feeling happy about Valerie’s supportive attitude towards meeting her boyfriend.

’If only Samuel had never confessed his love to you, it would be so easy for me to say that he is my boyfriend now,’ she thought sadly, continuing to walk out of the house until she met Tristan who had just arrived.

"You..."

"Are you going somewhere?" Tristan asked, looking much better although there were still a few bruises on his face.

"Yes," Hannah replied shortly, continuing to walk without caring about Tristan’s response.

Tristan sighed heavily, watching Hannah walk away before quickly entering the house and seeing Valerie drinking water.

"Hey..."

Valerie stopped drinking and looked at Tristan enthusiastically. "Tristan, you’re here!"

"I’m so bored at home, so I came here," Tristan said casually, then sat next to Daniel and watched him eating potato snacks. "Hey dude... Can I have some?"

"No!" Daniel shook his head, quickly moving away from Tristan.

"Hey... What’s this... What happened?" Tristan was surprised. "You don’t like me? Why are you avoiding me?" He wondered.

Valerie immediately sat on Daniel’s right side, then stroked his hair. "What’s wrong with you?"

"I don’t like him!" Daniel exclaimed bluntly.

"Why?" Valerie asked in amazement. "Did you forget that he’s the one who helped you the other day? Besides, mommy didn’t teach you to hate others..."

Daniel just stayed silent.

"Daniel..."

"It’s okay, Valerie," Tristan said calmly. "Maybe he’s just in a bad mood," he continued, reaching out to stroke Daniel’s hair.

"Do you not have any plans tonight?" Tristan asked. "I mean... Aren’t you working on your novel?"

"No..." Valerie shook her head. "I can’t concentrate. I decided to continue it next month because right now I still have to communicate with the director."

"The director?"

Valerie nodded.

"What are you doing with that director?" Tristan asked in amazement. "Is your novel going to be adapted into a movie?"

"No... not a movie." Valerie smiled shyly. "It’s just a drama series that will be aired on an online platform..."

"That’s cool!" Tristan looked impressed.

Valerie fell silent, averting her gaze, remembering Damian’s response about her novel.

"This is a good start for you, starting your career..."

"Yes... But Damian said it’s too rushed. He wants me to take back my novel and wait for another producer to turn it into a film. I can’t accept his advice..."

"Wait, wait..." Tristan furrowed his brows. "Are you getting close to him again? Are you two reconciled... I saw him come earlier today." He wondered.

Valerie just stayed silent with concern, as if unable to answer. She suddenly thought of Damian who didn’t come again, didn’t contact her, didn’t even send someone to take care of her as he promised.

’What is he doing until he forgets his promise? Does he have something more important than my and Daniel’s safety?’
