Revenge Wears Red Lipstick-Chapter 145: Shot Dante
In the next picture was Keisha, looking a year older with only a slight scar on her face, running from her forehead to her cheeks.
Eva’s heart instantly sank to her feet.
As if that wasn’t enough, Eva took in the names of the parents that were filled in the guardians’ space.
The names were similar, very similar because they were Katherine’s parents.
Dante glanced at Eva. She didn’t move, didn’t speak. In fact, she was so shocked that the files slipped out of her hands before she could hold them properly.
"Did she find what she’s looking for?" Imma asked when she saw Eva’s expression. "I think she did."
Dante picked up the files from the floor and handed them over to the doctor.
"Thanks for your help. I’ll make sure to compensate you for the trouble," he said.
But the doctor immediately shook her head.
"Don’t bother about that. I only did that because I wanted her to find her sister. Siblings are the gift that parents give us. My siblings are long dead, and if I could do anything to bring that back to life so we could hang out once again, I would," said Imma. If only she understood the situation better. Then she glanced at Eva who still hadn’t said a word. "It may be awkward now, but you two will certainly get closer once again."
Dante’s lips thinned as he didn’t say anything.
He helped Eva up as they walked out of the office.
"It’s unfortunate that this had to happen. But..." Rico trailed off, unsure if his next words would be right. "Katherine is currently a runaway and after everything that she’d done to you, will you forgive her?"
Eva scoffed with so much spite.
"Forgive?" That word sounded so wrong when used towards Katherine after what the latter had done to her.
Rico glanced at Dante who signaled to him to drop the matter.
Finding out that Katherine, the same woman who made Eva’s life a living well was her sister was a lot to take in in one night. Not once did they suspect that it would be Katherine one bit.
Eva always thought that Katherine was Eva’s biological daughter, so she never bothered to investigate her background carefully.
Still, the news wasn’t something she would want to think about at the moment. There was still a lot on her plate, and yet, Rico’s question hovered over her mind.
Was she really going to forgive Katherine?
They stepped out of the hospital with Eva still looking pale and shaken from the information they’d just found out.
"I can drive you back home," Dante suggested. They’d both come with their cars but he believed Eva wasn’t in the right state of mind to drive at all. "You can call your driver to come pick up the car later."
Eva immediately shook her head. "Don’t worry, I can drive."
Her response was firm, making it obvious that he wouldn’t be able to convince her.
She walked towards her car while Dante stared at her back.
"This is going to be tough for her to handle," said Rico, walking up to Dante’s side.
"Eva is a smart woman and I think any decision she makes about Katherine would be the right one." Dante frowned deeply when he suddenly saw a red dot planted at the back of Eva’s head.
It was red and shiny and it wasn’t an ordinary red dot.
Immediately, Dante ran to Eva as fast as he could, calling out for her.
She turned to him, her face filled with panic as Dante shielded her body with his. He grimaced when the bullet pierced his rib as blood spilled out of the hole.
The man behind the gun hissed under his breath when he saw that he’d missed his shot. But he couldn’t stay there any longer. He’d already been figured out.
He made a phone call as he packed his things.
"Boss, I missed. Dante got in the way."
Mr. De Rossi’s chest was heaving as he took in the news. "Try again. Aim your gun properly and just get rid of that woman for me!! Is she immortal or something? Why can’t she just die?!"
Jay had to move the phone away from his ears in fear that his eardrums were going to burst.
"I can’t stay here any longer. They’re currently at a hospital and the security has started snooping around."
Mr. De Rossi was silent for a second but Jay could feel how much he was raging from the other side.
"Stalk her and make sure you kill her the next time she’s alone," he instructed.
Jay couldn’t help but roll his eyes back at his boss’s order.
"Sure."
"And—" Before Mr. De Rossi could give out more instructions, Jay hung up on the call.
From where he was standing, he could see Dante being rushed to the hospital.
The scene was already flooded with people as they tried to find out where the gunshot came from.
"Well, I guess my work here is done."
Dante was immediately admitted into a room while the operation started.
Eva was pacing around, unable to stand still. Her hand trembled as she tried to keep calm.
Once again, Dante was hurt because of her.
He’d taken a bullet for her when he could have just let her die.
She bit on her fingernails, her entire body trembling as she tried to keep calm.
"Here, have water." Rico handed her a bottle of water. She took a sip and dropped it by the side of the bench. Wetting her throat was the least of her concerns at the moment.
Getting shot in the rib was dangerous, and there was a chance that...
She shook her head, an attempt to get rid of the thoughts flooding her mind.
"You need to relax. This is not the first time Dante has gotten a shot in the rib." Eva stared at him with dread written all over her face. Instantly, Rico realized he’d said something he shouldn’t have. "That man is made with more metal than flesh."
