Revenge Wears Red Lipstick-Chapter 162: Avenge
They both turned their heads towards the door, and for the first time in her life, Katherine was pleased to see Eva.
Earlier, Eva had been on her way to Katherine’s house. Since the house was in a secluded area, afterall, Katherine was still a runaway, the neighborhood was empty, so quiet that she could hear the air passing by.
Then came a sudden gunshot that sent chills down her spine.
She’d kicked off in a marathon just to arrive on time. But from what had happened before, she didn’t arrive on time, because Mason was lying cold on the floor. Katherine’s children were crying while Jacob shook his father, hoping for him to wake up.
On the other hand, Katherine was getting harassed by the other one who used tattoos as a second skin.
The man in tattoos stared at his colleague who was lying cold on the floor, the life snatched right out of just a second ago before his gaze landed on the woman at the entrance, who was holding a gun in her hand, her gaze hot as fire as she pointed it at him.
However, before Eva could fire, the other hooligan fired right at her.
Thankfully, he didn’t aim properly so Eva was able to evade the shot.
Katherine gasped when she heard the gunshot, and her hands instinctively went to cover her ears.
"Who the fuck are you?!" The tattooed man questioned, his teeth clenching.
Just a minute ago, he was fantasizing about how to have fun with Katherine right after they’d just killed the one they came for, only for this woman to spawn out of nowhere and murder his colleague in cold blood.
Eva didn’t reply as she hid behind the wall of the house.
"Aren’t you going to show yourself?" He questioned, but silence was the only thing that greeted him.
Hissing, he grabbed Jacob and placed the gun on his head, his finger hovering over the trigger.
"No!! Please don’t!!" Katherine pleaded, her tears streaming now. "Please don’t harm my children!"
"If you don’t show yourself, I’m gonna puncture a bullet into this kid’s head and have his guts flying out!" He threatened, saliva flying everywhere.
Eva hissed under her breath when she heard his words.
Maybe she should have just taken both of them out when she had the opportunity. Thankfully, she already had a gun with her because the tattooed man didn’t seem like a normal person, so a physical brawl with him would potentially be pointless.
"Where are you?!" He demanded once again as she pressed the muzzle of the gun into Jacob’s head.
"Please don’t!!"
Eva noticed a window beside her and took a peek. The man was smart enough to place Jacob directly in front of him, making it completely impossible to make a clear shot without harming the innocent boy.
She never planned for something like this to happen. Maybe with Katherine, yes, but not with a man who looked like he was taking drugs.
Her grip tightened around the gun. The last thing she wanted was to hurt Katherine’s children.
"I’m coming!!" She said, loud enough for him to hear.
She walked inside, her arms in the air in a surrender.
"Will you look at that? Another hottie." He whistled, completely forgetting she still had a gun in her hands. "I’m going to have my fun today!" He whistled again, this time louder and it did nothing but make Eva’s skin crawl.
She glanced at Katherine whose face was stained with so many tears her heart broke.
"Put the boy down first and I’ll do whatever you say." She tried to bargain.
Obviously, the man before her wasn’t a stable person, so she needed to make sure none of the kids were in arms so she could deal with him properly.
"Throw away your gun first," he countered.
Eva didn’t look surprised. She’d expected him to demand such a thing for her, after all, she killed his buddy.
Without hesitating, she threw it five feet away from her.
The tattooed man grinned as he held Jacob.
He was still carrying his baby sister who’d cried herself to sleep. The little boy scurried towards his mother’s side without a second thought.
The tattooed man stepped forward, his gaze landing on Eva’s breasts.
"It’s a good thing you arrived. You might have killed my partner, but I might just forgive you for that if you act right." He leaned forward, pressing the gun to her head as he licked her cheeks.
Goosebumps rose on Eva’s skin.
He was just one man, crazy and unstable but he was still one person.
The kids were safe, so she could carry out her plan now.
She reached for the gun pointed at her head and in a swift motion, she worked on it with fast practiced hands, taking out the bullets and rendering it useless.
Before the tattooed man could understand what she was doing, she gave him a hard jab on his rib and he yelped, taking two steps from her to make her escape.
"You bitch!!" He yelled, aiming the gun at her and firing, but nothing happened.
Eva needed to avoid a physical brawl with him, so before he could reach for her, she’d already grabbed her gun and fired at him, but she missed his head and the bullet grazed his ears instead.
Strangely, he ignored the pain as blood dripped from his ear, staining his brown tank top that was probably white in its past life.
He hovered above her, grabbing the gun, shifting the muzzle towards her face.
He was stronger, stronger than she’d expected.
She groaned as she tried to keep up with his strength and aim towards his face again. But the muzzle was pressed to her nose now. And just when she was about to lose her life, a shattering sound echoed.
Katherine was behind the man and had hit him with a flower vase.
It might not have caused him enough damage as she’d intended it to, but his strength loosened around the gun as he turned back to face Katherine.
"You’re next." Those were the last words he said before a bullet punctured through his skull, his blood splashing on Katherine’s face.
Katherine stood frozen like a statue, unmoving.
The tattooed man’s body dropped on Eva, making her shriek as she wasted no time in pushing him off of her immediately.
Quickly, she reached towards Katherine, pulling her closer.
"Look at me," she demanded. "Katherine, look at me." But somehow, Katherine couldn’t stop herself from looking at the corpse of the man before her. "Katherine!" Eva cupped her face, forcing her to look at her. "We need to get out of here, right now."
"B-but Mason," she stuttered, her gaze shifting to land on Mason’s corpse.
He was alive, just about half an hour ago when they’d been rushing to pack their bags and leave the house. She could see their passports lying on the coffee table. A few blood stains had already landed on it.
Eva stared at Mason’s cold body but there was nothing they could do. He was already dead.
"We still need to get out of here."
Quickly, Eva contacted Dante and informed him of what had transpired a few minutes ago. And in twenty minutes, he was already standing at the door in his full height, his gaze cold as they landed on the bodies, but as soon as they found Eva’s eyes, they softened like melted chocolate.
Immediately, he closed the distance between them in three long strides and quickly enveloped her in a warm hug.
When he’d gotten a call from her, his heart skipped beats after beats.
For the past month, her calls only sent his heart racing and now he was thinking of keeping her in the house, where she would be out of danger.
"Are you hurt?" He asked when he released her, scanning over her body like a professional.
"I’m alright," she responded. "We need to get Katherine out of here, together with Jacob and the baby. We can’t let the police find out about this."
Dante glanced at Katherine, a question hovering over his mind, but he made a mental note to ask Eva about it later.
"Leave it to me."
Thankfully, Dante had arrived with a few of his men. He gave them the instructions and in no time, the bodies were cleared.
"Wait. What are you going to do with Mason’s body?" Katherine asked.
Both Eva and Dante glanced at each other before Eva decided to reply.
"We will be burying him like the rest," she responded.
"Can I at least see him one last time?" She asked.
Eva paused before she gave a nod.
Katherine hurried to the bags that were being taken away. She searched for Mason’s own until she found it.
But she couldn’t get any words out no matter how hard she tried. Instead, she sobbed, loud and clear.
