Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 405: The First Major Battle (2)
A storm formed above the stadium before acidic rain began to fall.
Leng Pan used spiritual spring water to create a barrier around her people. This protected them from the corrosive rain.
Unlike before when she was practicing, this was no scattered drizzle. It was a torrential downpour.
Zombies caught in it melted where they stood. Alien foot soldiers shrieked as their armored skin hissed and smoked.
What made the situation bizarre was the fact that the rain didn’t extinguish Lu Zhen’s flames. Instead, it added a corrosive effect on them.
The alien commander finally moved. It raised one arm and a barrier of violet energy expanded outward like a dome, shielding itself from the acid rain.
The droplets sizzled violently against the barrier but could not penetrate it. Leng Pan hadn’t thought that there could be something in this world that could withstand her acidic rain.
Lu Zhen’s inferno dragon crashed into the shield, flames spiraling and compressing until the barrier flickered.
Leng Pan noticed this and her eyes narrowed in contemplation.
"Let’s attack together." She finally said.
Lu Zhen nodded his head once, even without words, he understood what he had to do.
The water dragon roared. Its roar sounding more real than before. Instead of diving, it began to spiral around the violet barrier, its massive body coiling like a constrictor.
Lu Zhen’s fire dragon followed, wrapping around the water dragon.
Steam exploded outward as fire and water merged without canceling each other. Instead, they seemed to merge into one.
The two dragons twisted into one colossal entity, half crimson, half sapphire, steam and flames dancing between its scales.
The battlefield fell silent for a heartbeat. Leng Pan and Lu Zhen couldn’t believe what they were seeing. This was nothing short of a miracle.
Even the alien Commander, who had seemed so sure of himself, reacted. His expression shifted.
"Impossible..." He said this, staring straight at the now colossal dragon floating above the stadium.
The fused dragon opened its jaws and instead of releasing fire or water, it shot out a beam. A condensed torrent of superheated plasma and pressurized corrosive vapor combined with spiritual energy.
This was a weapon of mass destruction.
The violet barrier shattered upon contact.
The beam kept going and struck the alien commander head-on. The explosion flattened half the stadium and all the zombies and aliens within its range.
Concrete liquefied as zombies vaporized instantly.
When the light faded, a deep trench cut across the stadium floor. And at the end of it, the commander was on his knees.
One of its four arms was gone. Half its torso was melted, revealing writhing bio-mechanical structures beneath. This wasn’t purely an alien. But who really knew what the aliens were?
Its head slowly lifted. Violet energy surged violently around it.
"You won’t survive today." It said confidently.
The ground shook at that moment, from beneath the stadium, more cracks split open.
Dozens....no, hundreds of aliens emerged from within filling the empty space.
Leng Pan felt her scalp tingle. "So, they weren’t planning on retreating?" She asked softly.
"It seems they are gathered below." Lu Zhen replied while moving to stand closer to his wife.
If push comes to shove, he could protect her.
Lu Tao’s face turned pale. "There are too many... they were hiding underground."
The commander laughed, the sound vibrating through bones.
"This city is ours." He declared arrogantly.
Lu Hao finally rose from the crater, blood trailing from the corner of his lips. Luckily, Leng Pan had remembered him and covered the crater with spiritual mist to prevent the acid rain from touching him.
His eyes looked different. They were glowing with a golden color.
The hostility he had earlier described toward aliens now erupted fully. It wasn’t clear whether it was because the alien Commander had attacked him or for other reasons but he was ready to burn every last one of them to the ground.
Electricity surged wildly around him, but it was no longer simple lightning. It carried faint golden and purple hues.
He stepped in front of Lu Zhen and said softly, "No." The air around the stadium trembled.
"This is my family’s world. It is our city." The way he laid claim on this world. One could hear that claim from the conviction in his voice.
"You dare to defy your origin" The commander asked sharply.
"My origin? I am Lu Hao, the second son of the Lu family. What other origin could I have? I will protect what belongs to my family. And the land you are standing on is one of them." Leng Pan had never thought that the identity they made up for Lu Hao would be taken so seriously by him.
At that moment, he truly became a member of the Lu family.
Lu Hao extended his hand. Every electronic remnant within a kilometer, streetlights, broken vehicles, abandoned wiring, sparked to life.
Energy streamed through the air like rivers of light, converging toward him.
The clouds above darkened unnaturally. Thunder roared.
Leng Pan felt her heart skip a beat. She couldn’t believe that one person could possess so much power. Enough to control the weather.
Lu Zhen’s expression turned grim.
"If he loses control....." Before he could finish that statement, Leng Pan interrupted him.
"He won’t." She didn’t say much, but the certainty in her voice said it all. She had faith in Lu Hao. He would never hurt them.
She stepped forward, placing one hand on Lu Hao’s back.
Cool spiritual energy flowed from her into him, stabilizing the violent current.
Lu Zhen moved to his other side as well, crimson flames weaving gently around Lu Hao but they didn’t burn him, instead, they provided support.
Instead of suppression, Lu Hao received his family’s support.
He inhaled sharply before thrusting his hand downward.
A golden lightning pillar descended from the heavens like divine punishment. It struck the alien commander directly.
The stadium felt as if it had ceased to exist. The explosion swallowed sound and light.
When vision returned, all that could be seen was a massive crater that had replaced the center of the stadium.
