Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 83: Leng Pan’s Risk Taking
Chapter 83: Chapter 83: Leng Pan’s Risk Taking
Leng Pan didn’t want to imagine a world where the zombies evolved too fast for the humans to catch up and fight.
She realized that, probably because of her transmigration, the plot of the book had changed a lot.
Something like this didn’t happen in the book. Even though zombies evolved and grew stronger, they were controlled to a certain level and couldn’t surpass some humans.
However, now some uncertain factors have been introduced. Some people had changed. Others who died at the beginning were still alive.
It had become some organized chaos. The plot was no longer useful as a reference. Even though some things still matched, many had changed and she would have to play it by ear.
But unlike Leng Pan who was a character created by the author and following a scripted life to become cannon fodder, she was different. She had sentience and could choose her own destiny.
Therefore, whether the plot went awry or followed the original script, she would take destiny into her own hands and mould it however she wanted.
So, now even though the situation before her was unfamiliar, she still held a positive mindset and didn’t panic.
"Something must have changed with that rock to attract so many zombies here." Leng Pan commented as she eyed the large group of zombies.
"Mmm...it will probably draw the attention of the military soon and they will take it away for research. We should get it quickly and get out of here." Lu Zhen added while surveying their surroundings.
"You are right. But how do we get to it with so many zombies surrounding it? There are at least thousands of zombies there. It is impossible for us to fight them and the previous method of luring them away obviously won’t work.
So, what can we do?" Leng Pan didn’t know what to do to get to the rock.
She also didn’t want to give up and let others benefit. So, no matter what method, they had to take that meteorite away.
"If we could turn invisible it would be great, but unfortunately, that’s impossible." Lu Zhen muttered under his breath but Leng Pan still heard him.
"What did you say?" She asked with an excited tone, her voice a little higher before she realized her mistake and closed her mouth.
She had forgotten that noise could attract zombies.
"No need to be excited, it won’t work anyway." Lu Zhen said as he looked at his wife with a smile. She was so cute!!
"No, I am serious, what did you say about being invisible?" Leng Pan asked again.
"I said it would be great if only we could be invisible then we could get to the rock without being discovered by the zombies or anyone else watching from a far." Lu Zhen repeated himself.
"But we can turn invisible indeed, at least I can. Have you forgotten how I got into the dealership store at that time?" Leng Pan was excited as she reminded Lu Zhen about this. frёewebηovel.cѳm
He had indeed forgotten. She could cover herself with mist and become undetectable by the zombies.
"It’s too dangerous for you to go there alone." He had just promised himself not to let her out of his sight, especially going deep into such a place where there were so many zombies, he couldn’t agree.
Of course Leng Pan wasn’t so confident that Lu Zhen would let her go alone, so she planned to take both of them there. That way, she could feel more secure with him by her side and also he would have peace of mind while holding her hand.
It was a win-win situation.
She told Lu Zhen about her plan who at first refused to agree but when she said that they couldn’t expect to gain benefits without taking any risk, he finally agreed, but only if she stuck to his side the whole way in and out.
Leng Pan of course had no problem with that. She agreed readily and drank a little more spiritual spring water to add to her energy before they both got out of the car.
To prevent some zombies from taking over their vehicle, they closed all the doors after switching off the engine.
They hadn’t expected not to use the crane as expected. However, going deep into the zombie crowd gave them cover. If anyone was watching, they wouldn’t see what was happening.
Without any delay, they held hands and started walking forward. As they approached the outermost zombies, some started to turn around and look at them.
While most of them turned around again and concentrated on whatever they were experiencing from the meteorite, others started walking towards them. Obviously attracted by their life force and intending to devour them to enhance their strength.
Leng Pan was regretting not having checked the zombie she had killed for a crystal core. She thought that if she killed more zombies, she should definitely check and see if there were any crystal cores inside.
As soon as they were only a couple of meters away from the first zombie, Leng Pan activated her water ability and covered herself and her husband in a thick layer of mist.
The zombies in front of them stopped and started turning around looking as if they had lost their target and were trying to find it.
Seeing that they didn’t seem to see or hear them, Leng Pan let go of the breath she had been holding without knowing and walked forward.
Walking amidst the zombies and having to avoid any contact with them wasn’t easy. However, to prevent any accidents, the two had to be careful and took careful and calculated steps forward.
It was only a distance of about a hundred meters from the outermost area to where the meteorite was. However, it took them over thirty minutes to get there.
Lucky for them, the zombies seemed to be avoiding the mist covering them as if it was an enemy. This made their effort a bit bearable.
When they finally got to the front where the meteorite was, they found that the zombies there seemed more evolved than the ones behind them.
As they were about to slide silently into the pit, which for some reason the zombies didn’t enter, one of the most sentient zombies turned and looked accurately at them.
