Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 99: Dominion Commander
Chapter 99: Chapter 99: Dominion Commander
Lu Zhen and Leng Pan noticed this small movement of course, but they didn’t say anything or ask. They assumed that their assumptions were correct.
Them being in contact with the meteorite somehow helped the others to improve.
Upon thinking about this, Lu Zhen looked around and didn’t see his brother, he turned to give Leng Pan a look who understood immediately.
No words were needed between them. They could understand each other with a single glance. This shows how much their bond had grown.
Leng Pan went to sit between her mother-in-law and aunt and let them experience the benefits of being close to the meteorite up close.
Lu Zhen on the other hand, went to Lu Tao’s room to look for him. Even though he wasn’t the one who touched the catalyst core, the simple act of holding Leng Pan’s hand had transferred enough residue to him to activate his fire ability.
It was also enough for his brother to stay close to him for a while.
In a secret base hundreds of miles away from the capital, a man with a rough voice was on the phone with another one speaking in a timid tone.
"Have you located them?" The rough voice man asked with a tinge of hostility in his tone.
"No, Commander. It’s as if they had evaporated into thin air after leaving that place. I can’t find them." The timid voice said.
This was the same man, who had been watching zombies surround the glowing meteorite.
Since that day, he had been looking for Leng Pan and Lu Zhen to retrieve the catalyst core. Even though he didn’t see them take it, and didn’t know how they had done it, he believed that they had it.
His commander had told him to get it back or get punished severely. He was now frantically searching for them everywhere, but had not found a single trace of their shadow.
"They couldn’t have taken the catalyst core with them without you noticing unless they had something that could conceal it’s presence completely.
The only thing that could isolate it’s energy signature without alerting anyone is a spatial ability or a spatial tool.
I lean more towards the spatial tool. They must have an ancient relic that can isolate a different space and that is what they used.
If you keep searching blindly, you won’t be able to find them.
Space items produce a void-space pulse when activated. It maybe brief or longer depending on how long it remains open.
Vortex will come and join you. He has the ability to manipulate air and is very sensitive to the changes in the air, including space fluctuations.
Search with him and bring results in two months. I don’t want to hear a negative answer again.
Bring me the catalyst core, and bring the people who dared to take something that belongs to the Dominion." After issuing such commands, Commander Qiu hung up the call.
Blaze didn’t know what to do, but he reconned that having the commander send another person who could act as a guide was already very kind of him.
He had shown mercy by not eliminating him directly. Their leader was never a man who showed mercy.
He still remembered a few days ago when the people sent to retrieve the catalyst core arrived and found it missing.
He had explained what happened to them, but of course, they were just surbodinates like him and couldn’t help. He had to report the disappearance himself.
When time went by and Commander Qiu hadn’t seen the retrieval team return, he had made the call himself.
His twenty four hours had not expired yet so he still couldn’t make a call.
At first, he had contemplated on whether he should just abandon everything and escape. But remembering how vengeful the commander was and how many resources and some strange technology he had that could easily track him, he gave up that thought.
So, he hurriedly picked up the phone.
"Why is the team not back yet? Did you encounter a problem?" Before he could even greet the commander, he was bombarded with questions.
"Commander, the meteorite is missing." At that time, Blaze didn’t even dare to call the rock a catalyst core as that might trigger violence immediately.
"What did you just say?" Came a sharp voice from the other end of the phone.
It wasn’t even as dignified as usual. That just showed how important the catalyst core was to the commander.
"I am sorry commander. It was my negligence. There were two people who walked into the horde of zombies and disappeared from sight.
They emerge about an hour later and left. But they weren’t carrying anything. So, I didn’t bother with them and just continued to observe the place where the meteorite was.
However, the huge crowd of zombies suddenly started to disperse three hours later. That’s when I realized that the crater containing the meteorite was empty.
I still don’t know if it’s disappearance had something to do with those two or the zombies did something." Blaze didn’t dare to lie.
He told the truth because he knew that the commander had ways to find out the truth. So, lying was futile. It was better to confess.
Commander Qiu was silent for almost five minutes. It was the longest five minutes Blaze had ever endured.
In the end, he said "Find my catalyst core. Find it and bring it to me then go receive your punishment. In this world, there is no room for mistakes." After saying that, he had hung up the call.
Blaze had actually expected to be eliminated immediately. Commander Qiu thinks he had done it secretly but their team always knew that they had been implanted with a chip in their heads.
If they were no longer useful, a simple click of a button was all it would take to take their lives.
That was the reason they were so fearful. Commander Qiu thought they respected him and that’s why they were loyal and did whatever he said, but in fact, it’s out of fear.
They were afraid that angering him would lead to death. They had no idea when the chip had been implanted in their heads, but they knew how it worked.
Maybe they weren’t aware of all its functions, but at least, they knew that it could monitor their movements and kill them.
Now, he had devoted in searching for the couple who had walked into that zombie horde without success.
He hoped that Vortex would have better luck. The only problem now was that there was no longer any energy signature left behind.
Even with Vortex coming, they would have to conduct a blind search. Every space vibration and fluctuation would be suspected.
This means that they might run around just encountering normal people who had awakened a space ability.
However, at least doing that might result in a blind cat catching a dead mouse.
They might come across the person with the catalyst core by accident.
Leng Pan felt her heart palpitate for no reason and wondered if she was developing a heart disease because of too much work.
Maybe training too much wasn’t good for the body!
