Rise of The Anti God-Chapter 747: The Godwin Clan
"Welcome, Chief Godwin. I am so glad to see that you could rescue your disciple without any unfortunate incidents," Warlord Khun said with a smile as Akira descended to the ground.
Akira narrowed her eyes and said in a lackluster manner, "It is all thanks to Lord Larmun. But why are there a lot of people gathered outside?" Akira asked as she saw a lot of her people gathered outside the gates. But what made her knit her brows was that she noticed all of them were closely observing her nephew.
Khun awkwardly chuckled as he said, "Our people had already gotten news that you had taken in a human slave, which you never have all this time. So all of them seem to be curious about what kind of human slave caught your eyes. But personally, I have to say your choice is the best I have ever seen. I am sure he will serve and fulfill all your needs."
Damien felt hundreds of gazes falling on him, making him feel like he was some kind of animal in a zoo where people would stare at him.
Of course, he could feel strong hostile gazes and saw how most of their expressions were twisted with contempt and ridicule. It was as if they didn't feel like he was worthy enough to be the Chief's slave.
Damien was familiar with similar gazes, especially how he was the enemy of the world in his past life. Compared to that, this was nothing, and he decided to just bear with it for the time being. At least he doesn't have to worry about getting harmed as long as he was near his aunt.
But he wondered why this Khun guy always roamed around Akira's place. It almost seemed like he considered himself her confidant despite being a Warlord himself.
Damien had already learned from Akira that this Ghoul City was managed by four Warlords and the Chief Warlord, who held the highest authority around here.
Akira expected a situation like this, but she decided to ignore it as she said, "Let them be. But it seems like you have been waiting here for a while. Why?"
Khun waved his hands as he said, "It's just that Daemon Lord Larmun had left me a message for you. It seems he assumed you would rescue your disciple and informed me that he had picked a good time for the proposed duel. It will be one month from now."
"He picked it himself?" Akira asked with furrowed brows while Mira clicked her tongue in annoyance.
"Just to say this, you were waiting here all this time?" Akira asked with a jaded look and was about to walk past him when he said, "No, there is one more thing. It is about the Daemon King..."
Akira stopped as she looked at him while Mira furrowed her brows.
"What about him?"
Khun looked around briefly and lowered his voice as he said, "Lord Larmun mentioned that the Daemon King requests your presence for the upcoming duel. He also added that your presence would greatly please the King."
"You can leave," Akira said without saying anything else as Khun bowed and left.
Damien couldn't figure out what his aunt was thinking since her expression was blank but seeing Mira's expression looking complicated, he felt that something was going on with this Daemon King business.
Why did it seem like the Daemon King was interested in his aunt? Was something really going on between them? For some reason, Damien wasn't feeling good about this, even though he didn't logically have any reason to.
Akira walked into her tower as Damien ran up to Mira and asked, "Hey, what's this business regarding the Daemon King?"
Mira ignored him with a cold face, making Damien shrug as he mumbled, "Fine. I will just ask her myself."
Mira's brows raised as she looked at him sternly, "No! Are you mad?" She whispered.
"What? Who else can I ask?" Damien said with a guileless look.
Mira slapped her forehead as she said with a frustrated look, "Fine. I will tell you. Historically, the Godwin Clan always had a strong relationship with the Daemon Horn continent. They were the bridge that united the ghouls and the daemons. There was also this tradition of the Godwin Clan and the Royal Daemon Family marrying each other every generation. In this current generation, Master, as the youngest of her clan, was betrothed to the Daemon King 700 years ago. But in the end, it was her cousin that married the Daemon King. However, the rumors are that the Daemon King still hasn't forgotten his first love."
"And what do you think?" Damien asked with a narrowed gaze. He had already expected things to be something like this, though he never thought all this had happened so many centuries ago.
Mira's eyes became distant as she said, "As far as I know, the Daemon King has everything no other man has. Power is the biggest factor. Even if I don't like the Daemon Horn people as a whole, I don't have anything against their king. He had always respected us, especially the Godwin Clan. And since Master is the last remaining member of the Godwin Clan, she has to marry someone to continue the bloodline. I can't think of anyone better than the Daemon King, though in the end, only Master herself can decide."
Damien furrowed his brows and said, "You are wrong about one thing. She is not the last member of the Godwin Clan."
"You..." Seeing him walk past her with a smirk, Mira wrinkled her nose as she squinted her eyes.
But she had to grudgingly admit that this half-human actually had the Godwin amulet, which was proof that he belonged to this ancient and esteemed Godwin Clan even if it was considered a dying one at this point.
"Damien, come here. I have an announcement to make," Akira said as Damien was surprised to see all the maids and servants assembled in the hall.
