228 The Beasts In The City

Upon hearing her name in this forsaken place, Camille’s eyes twitched, and immediately she assumed a battle stance.

The two undead who were behind her also stretched out the spear in their hands.

“Raphael-”

However, briefly, after Camille assumed a battle posture, her eyes came in contact with Raphael.

“What are you doing here?” Camille asked in a curious voice.

It had to be known the new age city was no fun place, and considering Raphael was standing in front of a place regarded as the hang-around place of the beasts, Camille couldn’t help but ask.

Raphael was aware of what Camille was, he shook his head, and then seized her from head to toe with a puzzled look on his face.

“Are you okay?” Raphael asked.

At first, Raphael’s question caused Camille to be confused, but upon recalling the state she was in, she heaved a deep breath.

.....

“Yes, I am,” Camille stated, then nodded her head several times.

It was as though she were trying to convince herself about the position she was in.

Gus, who was on Raphael’s shoulder, shook its head after Camille spoke. There was no way someone could be in this disoriented and still be considered okay.

Staring at Camille from head to toe, if there was one word to qualify her, then it was ‘disorganized’

Whether it was her clothes which were severely tattered, the bruises and scars around her body, or her hair that seemed to be battling against each other, she was in a chaotic state.

“Pteeuh!” Camille suddenly spat blood out of her mouth.

She seemed to have been holding it back in for quite some time, and it was only when she was no longer able to keep it in that she let it out.

Camille wiped the blood around the corner of her mouth, “I don’t need your pity stares, Raphael.” She said.

“And don’t even try to help because I will get through this. An unpolished gem will get better over time.” Camille muttered.

Followed by her words, she ignored Raphael’s stares and the other beasts in the surrounding and took a step forward.

Earlier, as the beasts had seen Raphael walk into the restaurant with the six other beasts, and how the wolf had been previously treated, they dismissed any vile thoughts they had about him.

However, while Raphael was removed from the subject, the same couldn’t be said for Camille.

Each beast in the area stared at Camille, with the majority of them having the cruelest of thoughts in mind.

“She’s mine! Back off!!!”

Those words had only been said when five beasts dashed towards Camille.

There was killing intent in the five of their eyes, and as they moved towards Camille, they seemed to have taken to be a competition, on who gets to deliver the most brutal of all damage to her body.

“Y-You… Sons of bitches!!” One of the beasts lamented as the others outran him, despite that he was the one who moved first.

“At least allow yours truly to put his seed into her before you rip her apart.” The beast yelled.

Meanwhile, seeing the beasts who were only a few meters away from her, Camille gulped, and losing composure, she staggered backward.

Fear was written on all over her face, and even as she managed to regain control of herself, she was unable to move from her position.

“Hahaha!!!” Upon coming in contact with Camille, the beasts laughed maniacally.

It was about to latch onto her when a spear was embedded into his chest.

Along with the two undead beside Camille, another three appeared. The three of them were also holding on to a black spear, and right after they emerged, they went into battle mode.

With one goal to save Camille, while the other goal was to rip her apart. The undead and the beasts held nothing back against each other.

Camille bit her lower lips, while also clenching her hand into a tight fist.

Despite spending only a few days in the city, Camille wanted to scream her lungs out, as life in this place was cruel and merciless. She was considered on the strongest in the academy, but in this place, she was no more than a bottom feeder.

It was a struggle-some in New Age City.

However, this, of course, wasn’t the first time Camille had been in the situation. She had overcome numerous attacks, and a few seconds after the undead and the beasts engaged in an intense fight, she moved.

“Ahhh! She’s fleeing! Stop her!!” The beasts yelled, seeing Camille running with every bit of strength that was left in her.

The beasts intended to chase after Camille, but wherever it was they moved to, one of Camille’s undead appeared in front of them.

It caused the beasts to be even more infuriated that they swore to end Camille in the most horrible way after all the trouble she was putting them through.

“Where do you think you’re going to, human?” A voice so cold that it seemed to come from the depth of purgatory sounded.

Camille had managed to cover some distance from the other beasts when that cold voice sounded.

She didn’t want to stop running, but feeling that overbearing aura and killing intent, her bones, and muscles became still immediately.

Slowly raising her head, and seeing the figure of the creature in front of her, beads of sweat appeared on Camille’s forehead.

“I-” Camille’s mouth opened slightly, and even though she wanted to speak, no words left her mouth.

“Hehe!”

Upon seeing the terror on Camille, the thirty feet green anaconda nodded its head repeatedly.

This was well expected of any species who laid eyes on its elegance.

Before Camille could even get a grip of herself, she was wrapped around by the anaconda, she became so close that only a few inches separated her from the anaconda’s eyes and mouth.

And as the green anaconda slowly leaned towards her, Camille’s heart raced. She saw the mocking look on the anaconda’s face, and as its mouth opened slowly, she closed her eyes.

“That’s enough.” Suddenly, a voice sounded.

A voice so soft yet demanding rang out.

The anaconda was about to swallow Camille when that voice sounded. It immediately paused and, turning towards the person who had just spoken, it extended its tongue.

“And who do you think you are?!” Said the anaconda.

With his hands placed in his pocket, Raphael smirked, as he heard the anaconda in front. “I can be the one who will end you or the one who will spare you.”

“It will depend on which move you choose to make.”
