Rise of the Lustful Evil Monarch (Re)-Chapter 535: The Ice Coffin (3)
Third Person’s POV
The figure was indistinct, and its features were hidden, while its presence was unreadable.
Meanwhile, the blue-haired woman herself froze for a brief moment.
For the first time since her arrival in this place, a genuine expression of surprise appeared on her face.
Even the earlier discovery of the frost soul orchid’s hollow nature had not elicited such a reaction from her, as that had only left her mildly annoyed, as if she had been deceived by something trivial.
But this was different and unexpected.
This was something she had not anticipated in the slightest.
Her eyes narrowed slightly as she focused her senses upon the coffin and attempted to peer through its transparent surface and identify the being resting within it.
But she failed, and no matter how she adjusted her perception, no matter how she refined her focus, she could not see through it clearly.
The figure inside remained obscured, as if the coffin itself rejected any attempt to observe its contents.
Not only that, she could not even determine whether the being inside was alive or dead.
There was no clear fluctuation of energy, no sign of detectable life force, and no sign of decay emanating from it either.
It was as though the existence within the coffin existed in a state that defied simple classification.
However, her gaze shifted toward the vein-like patterns etched across the coffin’s surface, and her expression darkened slightly as she began to piece things together.
She instantly realized that these blue vein patterns were not simply designs but were conduits.
And judging by their direction and origin, she could immediately deduce that they had once connected directly to the frost soul orchid that had been planted above.
Following this thinking, she also concluded that this orchid had been most likely intentionally planted by someone.
And it must be with the intent to nourish whatever lay sealed within that coffin by continuously supplying it with its refined icy essence over time, slowly draining itself until nothing remained but a hollow shell.
This meant that whoever had placed the coffin here had not only known about the orchid but had also arranged everything with clear intent.
At the same time, it meant that whoever had designed this scheme was far too precise to be an ordinary individual.
Just the fact that this herb required hundreds of years to mature must mean that this coffin must have been placed here at least two hundred years ago.
All of these conclusions were formed inside her mind within the span of a few seconds.
The blue-haired woman’s expression grew serious as the weight of the situation settled upon her.
She realized that even she could not decipher the full nature of this coffin, and that itself was enough to make her cautious.
And a being of her experience and power would never ignore her instincts and approach something that her instincts clearly warned her of.
Deciding on her next course of action within a fraction of a second, the blue-haired woman did not linger near the coffin any longer.
Instead, she turned away, her expression already returning to its usual calm and unreadable state as she moved back toward Arlene and the remaining three.
Her figure blurred slightly as she crossed the distance in an instant/
And the moment she reached their position, she raised her hand without a word, and the towering transparent ice wall that had protected them began to melt rapidly.
The thick, icy barrier that had easily stopped the demonic snake’s monstrous charge lost its form in mere seconds and dissolved into flowing streams of water that cascaded down and spread across the icy ground before quickly freezing again into a thin reflective layer, leaving the group fully exposed to the cavern once more.
The four stood there in stunned silence, still processing the series of events that had just unfolded, starting from the unexpected destruction of the precious herb to the present, when the blue-haired woman gestured her hand in a slow circular motion toward them.
For a brief moment, they thought she was signaling them to move or follow her instructions, but in the very next instant, their assumptions shattered.
A soft and ethereal foggy blue ribbon of icy energy emerged from her palm, and not giving them any time to react, it wrapped around their bodies smoothly, coiling around their waists and limbs without causing the slightest discomfort.
In the next moment, they were lifted into the air.
All four of them rose effortlessly and were suspended behind the blue-haired woman as though they weighed nothing at all, with their bodies held securely by the flowing ribbon of frost that connected them directly to her hand.
Without giving them any time to question or resist, she turned once more and flew toward the small island, her figure cutting through the cold air with effortless grace as the four followed behind her while being tethered to her like drifting shadows.
Despite being suspended in such a manner, none of them felt any strain or unease, as the energy holding them was surprisingly gentle and stable, though their attention was no longer on their own situation.
As they drew closer to the island and the dark blue coffin came into clearer view, their curiosity only deepened.
The presence of the mysterious coffin was unsettling and impossible to ignore.
When they finally landed upon the island, the blue-haired woman turned toward them, her expression now serious as her gaze swept across each of them briefly.
"No one, and I mean no one, is to approach that coffin until I return."
Her voice was calm, but the weight behind her words was unmistakable, making it a clear command.
Without waiting for any response, she turned away once more and moved toward the ongoing battle nearby, her figure rising into the air as she advanced.
Even before she reached the battlefield, a powerful aura began to emanate from her body and started spreading outward, forming a dense, pure blue domain around her that spanned a radius of several metres.
