Rise of the Primordial Dragon beast tamer-Chapter 28: Mysterious Force Lurking in the shadows.
Chapter 28 - Mysterious Force Lurking in the shadows.
Azvoid stood in the vast shadowy battlefield of his mental space, panting heavily. His body ached from the relentless trials Noctis had thrown at him, but he wasn't done yet.
"You're improving, but you still have far to go," Noctis's deep, velvety voice echoed through the darkness.
Azvoid wiped the sweat off his forehead, smirking. "You say that every time, but I always come out on top."
"Cocky," Noctis snorted. "Then let's see if you can handle this."
The darkness trembled. A deep, guttural growl slithered through the void, sending chills up Azvoid's spine. From the shifting abyss, something began to emerge.
A towering figure, at least fifteen feet tall, stepped forward. Its body was sleek yet powerful, covered in shimmering obsidian plating that reflected no light. Its four arms—each ending in clawed hands—cracked the air as it flexed. A tail, lined with jagged crystalline spikes, swept the ground behind it. But what truly unsettled Azvoid was its face—three slanted eyes, burning a deep, violet hue, and no mouth, yet he could hear its eerie breathing.
"The Abyss Revenant," Noctis introduced, his voice heavy with satisfaction. "A creature of absolute void. It feeds on energy and moves beyond the physical plane."
Azvoid exhaled sharply. "Of course, it does."
Noctis chuckled darkly. "Try not to die."
Before Azvoid could react, the Revenant vanished. His senses screamed. He jerked back just as a clawed hand phased through the air where his throat had been. A chill ran through him.
It didn't just teleport—it shifted between existence.
"Great, that's fair," Azvoid muttered before launching himself into battle.
The Revenant struck again, but this time, Azvoid was ready. Phantom Reflex activated, and he twisted, barely brushing past its razor-like claws. His Space Vector Master flared, sending a shockwave in retaliation.
The Revenant absorbed it.
Azvoid's eyes widened. "Oh, come on!"
It phased again, its movements jagged, unnatural. A claw came for his ribs. He warped away in a blink, landing above the Revenant midair, and drove a condensed Vector Strike downward.
The Revenant moved before the hit could connect, its form dispersing into the abyss itself.
Azvoid spun, gritting his teeth. "Alright, you shadowy freak—let's see how well you handle some real chaos."
He raised a hand. Space cracked. The battlefield warped and expanded, countless paths opening into the void, folding and twisting into a thousand angles of distorted gravity.
The Revenant paused.
Azvoid smirked. "Can't shift between places if the places don't exist properly."
The Revenant lunged—only for Azvoid to twist space itself. Its strike missed completely as its own body was displaced across a different plane.
Azvoid didn't waste the chance. He reappeared right behind it, wreathed in spatial energy.
"Game over."
He drove a catastrophic pulse straight through its core.
The Revenant trembled, its three eyes flashing wildly before its body shattered, dispersing into the void.

Azvoid exhaled and collapsed to one knee. "That... was a pain."
Noctis laughed, his deep voice filled with amusement. "You're learning. Barely."
"Shut up."
As the battlefield faded, Azvoid's vision blurred. His body, exhausted beyond reason, drifted back to the waking world.
---
When he woke up in his room, everything ached.
Azvoid groaned as he sat up, rubbing his temples. He hadn't just pushed himself—he had outright bulldozed past his limits.
Still, the moment of triumph was short-lived.
Outside, the streets were alive with an unnatural buzz.
"Did you hear about that freakish talent someone displayed at the White Lotus Guild?"
"Yeah! They say he crushed an entire combat automaton like it was a twig!"
"I heard he dodged every single attack without even trying. What kind of ability even lets you do that?!"
---
Azvoid stepped onto his balcony, stretching his sore limbs. The city below was alive with an unnatural energy—voices clashing, whispers rising like a storm. He hadn't been outside long before he caught snippets of hurried conversations.
"Did you see that thing in the dungeon?" a merchant asked, nearly dropping a crate of goods as he spoke. "It was massive—dark as the void itself! I swear I felt my soul tremble."
"I heard the whole dungeon nearly collapsed!" a young adventurer chimed in, gripping his guild badge. "Some high-ranking beast must've been summoned—no way an F-Rank dungeon should have had that level of destruction."
A grizzled old hunter shook his head. "That wasn't just some beast, kid. That was something ancient. I've been around long enough to know when something beyond us appears."
Azvoid leaned against the railing, listening.
"Tch. Rumors spread fast."
A group of armored soldiers passed below.
"The Guild Association is already investigating. Witnesses claim to have seen a silhouette standing amidst the carnage, but no one got a clear look before the dungeon collapsed."
"Another rogue summoner?"
"No. If someone had that kind of power, they wouldn't be lurking in a low-rank dungeon. It doesn't make sense."
Azvoid smirked. "Good. Let them wonder."
Noctis's voice slithered into his mind. "You amuse yourself with their ignorance?"
He shrugged. "It's better this way. If they knew, I'd have every major power breathing down my neck."
"For now."
Azvoid's smirk faded. He knew Noctis was right. Whatever happened in the Abyssy Hollow dungeon wasn't just going to be forgotten. This was only the beginning.
And so, the legend of a nameless force lurking in the shadows had just begun.
