Rise of The Strongest Monarch-Chapter 47: A Helping Hand [2]
Being able to stand again feels nice but trying to find any sign of Airi and the zierel is kind of hard.
CLASH!!!
Wind blows past me as the sound of two weapons colliding with one another echoes throughout the area.
"Are you trying to watch them fight?" Amelia asks with curiosity in her voice.
"Yes," I answer.
"It is a bit faster than I’m used to as well but just focus on the sounds to start and then ease into the movements," She says with a calm tone in her voice.
I take a deep breath and then exhale.
Slowly I start to focus on the sounds of the weapons clashing against one another, each time it is louder than the last.
Within a few seconds I can finally start to see something as I begin to focus on the movement now. Everything is becoming a bit more visible but that might be the best I get.
The hybrid guy has his other arm back and is fighting against Airi at full strength it seems. He definitely didn’t feel that strong when he first approached us at the church to kill us... So this guy is actually stronger.
Slash!!!
Clang!!!
It doesn’t look like Airi is getting hit much by him still... Is she really that strong? The clashes are still pretty intense for the fact that she isn’t getting hit by him.
A burst of white light engulfs the area as Airi appears to move even faster.
Pierce!!!!
I just barely manage to see it last second, she just drove her sword into his chest.
(Only audible to Airi and The Hybrid Zierel)
"Let the light guide you to somewhere nice," Airi says with a serious expression.
"This fight felt even shorter than the first time...," He replies before falling onto the ground.
I watch as his body bursts into dust, along with his scythe as well. The fight is finally over with Airi on top as usual when it comes to fighting this guy.
I do wonder what she said to him before he fell back onto the ground. This whole battle ended a lot quicker than I expected it to... But that just feels normal when it comes to her.
There’s definitely got to be someone out there who will give her a problem, just like that guy gave me one.
Or maybe that’s dumb to imagine since the light bearers are supposed to be quite strong anyway. The zierel are also strong and tend to adapt.
"Let’s just be happy she won without a problem," The woman speaks up.
I’m definitely happy about that since I couldn’t really do much else.
"Focus on getting stronger so that you don’t have to rely on a light bearer for everything," She advises before disappearing.
I look back towards Tess as I consider what to say to her.
It wouldn’t feel right to just leave her behind without saying anything to her at all. Would it be best to explain what I’m working towards again?
I think I told her before that I want to wipe out all of the zierel but it has been quite awhile since we talked.
She also saw me kill a teacher in front of her eyes with no real explanation to it... That’s a death that is going to sit with me for quite some time.
Miss Rose is technically a human in my eyes so killing her didn’t feel right in the slightest.
My thoughts disappear as I feel a warm embrace all of a sudden.
"I’m sorry I took so long. You really did fight a lot today so you deserve a break," Airi says genuinely.
Even though I’ve been around Airi for awhile, it still feels weird to get hugs like this.
Yet, the warm embrace also feels great after a long day. She did give me a hug once before... When I had the nightmare that caused me to wreck the whole room.
I think it was the first time I met the woman who won’t give me her damn name. That night is definitely one that is hard for me to forget.
Everything played out differently since she wanted to prove a point.
It doesn’t matter now since I have gotten a bit better with talking to her whenever she decides to appear. It is always random lately, never something that I get to decide.
"It feels different to see an actual light bearer," Amelia speaks up with a surprised tone.
Airi let’s go of me and looks back towards Amelia.
"You are definitely unique. I have never seen anyone with one of our eyes before while still completely human," Airi responds with a bit of interest in her voice.
"My eye has always been this way. It doesn’t really mean much to me," Amelia says as she shrugs.
"Amelia is quite a fast fighter, that’s how we met," I chime in while turning to face them both.
"Yeah that is true. I just don’t tend to take my chances in the city itself," Amelia says while putting her knife away.
Honestly I’m shocked that she even took a hit for me earlier since we just met today. I can’t say if I’d do the same or not... But maybe I would consider it.
I don’t want innocent people dying for no reason or for me of all things. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
That is even more of a reason why I don’t need Tess coming along with me any time soon. I think she is better off here without me anyway, especially since we aren’t that close.
"Quite the luck you have Liam. I’ll handle everything here, why don’t you head back to the church. Amelia you can join us if you like," Airi speaks with kindness in her voice.
"Sure. A light bearer and someone I know isn’t a monster, that works for me," Amelia responds.
"I’ll see you back there Airi," I say before starting to walk away.
I guess I don’t get the chance to say anything to Tess before leaving... Not that it would really change anything. Airi will handle everything here.
