Rise of The Strongest Monarch-Chapter 70: Streets Of Amadon [3]
I watch as Amelia uses some of the light to boost herself up over the wall.
Thud!
I hear her land on the other side without any issues so now it is just me stuck over here for the time being.
Now I have to figure out a way to get over the barricade, but I’m not entirely about how to do it. This is quite the predicament for me to be in at the moment...
"Why don’t you put some faith in me?" Celeste asks with a soft tone.
I look down towards my arm for a moment before looking back up towards the barricade.
What exactly will you be able to do here?
"Just run towards the barricade and jump, trust me," she responds.
I begin to run towards the barricade before jumping up towards it.
CRUSH!!!
The ground sounds as if it breaks the moment I push off of it and I find myself soaring up to the top.
I can feel the air moving past me; everything is happening a lot faster than it feels. Before I know it, I end up on the other side of the barricade with Amelia and Airi.
Both of them just stare at me for a moment.
"Told you that you could do it," Airi says with a smile.
"Yeah, I guess you were right," I reply while scratching my head.
I don’t really know what Celeste did but it kind of sounded like she pushed something out from my feet. The ground was broken underneath me from what I could hear.
Eventually I’ll have to find my own way to get over obstacles, but it didn’t hurt to have a hand from her there.
"We should keep moving while we have the chance," Airi suggests.
We both give her a nod before following behind her again.
The silence around us is only growing as we continue our walk through the streets, but now I don’t see much else here. Stores aren’t really around here much for some reason.
It mostly looks like old apartment buildings and maybe a police station.
I look closely at the police station as we begin to pass it, noticing that it is still completely in tact compared to most of the buildings around here.
Maybe some people are hiding within the police station, not that Airi seems intent to check it out. I think there’s something more important here that we are looking for.
The question is what.
I feel something suddenly tug on my arm, taking my attention away from the police station.
As I look over, I notice that it is Amelia trying to get my attention.
"What’s up Amelia?" I question while we walk.
"Something about this section of the city feels off," Amelia answers with a bit of concern in her voice.
"The whole city feels off to me," I say with a casual tone.
It is hard for one section to feel off when the whole damn place feels that way to me. I don’t think anything about the city feels right in the slightest.
Bodies were at the entrance, blood is all throughout the streets, and no sign of life seems to exist.
I’d say that alone paints quite the picture for what’s happening in this city; no one survived when the sun first disappeared. In a way, I’m one of the people who didn’t make it through the beginning.
Technically I did die...
"Liam this place has a real crazy energy radiating ahead of us," Amelia speaks with more of a serious tone.
"Maybe that’s exactly what we are heading for," I respond while trying to look ahead. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"I don’t like the feeling at all," Amelia says.
"Everything will be fine," Airi interrupts with positivity in her voice.
"We have quite a good line up here with us, I agree," I respond with a laid back tone.
Airi, Amelia, and Zeno already make quite the team. Most of them are a lot stronger than me at the moment but I know I can handle myself.
There’s no reason to fear anything ahead of us, especially if we have this strong of a group here.
"Yes, rely on the others."
"He is a coward after all."
"No wonder he keeps getting saved."
Voices that don’t seem to come from anywhere, just like the last few times, I continue to ignore them.
The buildings slowly being to disappear around us as we get closer to the strange feeling lingering in the distance. A feeling of death and despair that doesn’t want to go away.
But even with the buildings disappearing, I don’t really notice anything else around this area.
RUMBLE!!! RUMBLE!!!!
The ground shakes for a few seconds as we find ourselves stuck in place, waiting for it to end.
"We are definitely close to whatever is causing the shakes here," Airi speaks up, a calm tone still in her voice.
"Could it be another goliath?" Amelia asks with curiosity.
"Probably not. I think it is something completely different," Airi answers.
Something completely differently from what we dealt with earlier? I’m starting to think that I don’t know enough about the other variants.
That’ll become a problem at some point if I don’t try to learn a bit more about them. Fighting them will be practically impossible if I don’t know what to expect when I find any of them.
"For some reason I can’t even remember a thing about the others," Celeste says with panic in her voice.
You don’t remember anything about the other variants of your kind?
"Not in the slightest... I don’t know why," She says while trying not to panic more.
I’m sure you’ll eventually remember more about your kind. It might just be a temporary thing that you are dealing with right now since you are part of my body.
That’s my guess, not that I know anything about the zierel infections.
All of that remains a mystery about how it works or how it takes over the host, but don’t overthink it.
