Rising god-Chapter 130: Time to Act
Chapter 130: Time to Act
Darkan’s rise to a three-sun-star family had elevated its church to bishop-led status, granting them a 70-meter vessel and a thousand guards to patrol their expanded territory, including the Silver Duchy.
For a month, citizens trailed the vessel’s patrols, marveling at its rune-etched hull, a stark contrast to the dragons that once soared overhead. It was a symbol of pride, letting them boast to rival territories. And with the capital and the second city in natural safety, the vessel was deployed to move in those areas that their army couldn’t regularly reach.
However, even that had been changing recently.
The dragons’ regular patrols dwindled, their shadows passing only sporadically. The guard squads vanished, leaving the land eerily quiet.
For the underground organizations, this was their perfect moment to seize the power they’d craved for years, starting with the vessel on its routine patrol.
Today, as the vessel glided through the sky, a crushing pressure descended, its hull groaning under the force. Inside the command center, the Red Fang leader, Tad, gripped a console, his eyes narrowing. "What’s happening?"
"Sir, this seems to be the result of a powerful person," an operator replied, fingers flying over rune-lit panels.
"I thought only those above the 7th star could attack this vessel?" He asked in confusion.
"Yes, sir."
The implication left Tad reeling, ’8th star? In Darkan?’
"Identify who it is, now, and deploy the shield." He ordered, and the operators scrambled to carry out his order.
The operator’s face paled. "It seems to be the leader of the Maroon Marauders."
"Maroon?" Tad’s eyes widened. Since when was Marron an 8th star? The grandmaster rank was a monumental leap, requiring years to master, not to mention leaping through. And Maroon, for that matter?
’That would be troublesome,’ He frowned. He knew Marron. If he was attacking like this, then there was already a plan in place.
"Give me the sounds." The operators scrambled, the vessel’s runes flaring as shields hummed to life. Tad opened the comms, his voice booming.
[So, you finally show yourself, huh, Maroon?]
On the ground, Maroon muttered. "Tad? It’s been a while." He grinned in surprise.
[Marron leave, you still have a chance while I’m being considerate]
"Spare me the bullshit," Maroon chuckled. "You don’t think I don’t know the red dragons are separated now?" Marron chuckled. One would expect them to be stronger than ever after reclaiming their heritage; however, here they were, pursuing selfish goals. Was this how mighty families fell?
Tad’s jaw tightened. Maroon’s words stung, but he wasn’t wrong.
"But seriously, Tad," Marron’s gaze turned serious. "One of us would die here today
Nearby, the Third Executive of Dawnless cursed inwardly, wishing he could vanish. freēnovelkiss.com
After revealing the presence-hiding plant, the third executive suddenly found himself speaking to more people than usual. However, surprisingly, none of the top dogs met him.
They were probably thinking of taking the source for themselves.
And as a main contributor, here he was, about to sneak in the ship while Maroon brings down the ship without damaging it.
Inside the vessel, Tad barked, "Send the distress signal. Prepare the cannons."
Maroon sensed the vessel stabilizing and unleashed his domain. "Mountain Press!" The air thickened, and the pressure multiplied tenfold. The vessel tilted, its hull creaking ominously, runes flickering under the strain.
’Why aren’t you attacking?’ Tad thought for a moment as he stood his ground inside the vessel. He knew Marron always came prepared and with a plan, but here he was trying to force the ship down.
’Wait, force the ship down?’ It suddenly clicked in for him. ’So you want the ship, huh?’
Tad smiled in satisfaction. For him, it was better to first understand the enemy’s motive before moving forward, and now he did.
"Sir, we are ready to use the cannons."
"Fire"
The vessel’s underbelly opened, a cannon emerging.
BOOOOOOM!
The shot missed as Maroon tilted the ship with another wave of pressure. Raising his palm, he unleashed a blast skyward.
Bang!
The vessel rocked, operators stumbling.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Maroon’s relentless assault shook the ship, its shields wavering.
"Sir, we’re losing control!" an operator shouted.
"Hold on, reinforcements are coming," Tad growled, steadying himself. "Fire again!"
Another shot missed, the vessel lurching.
"Hey, Tad, I want to show you something," Maroon called, his voice cutting through the chaos. "You know how they say eighth-stars get a signature?"
"Shit, Move the vessel NOW!" Tad roared, panic rising. The operators scrambled, fighting the pressure.
Meanwhile, the infiltration team had moved.
Among the top underground organizations, there was a group known for its black market. They dealt in illegal and legal weapons, armors, disguises, and machines like this vessel they were about to hijack. Including them, Dawnless, doombringer, Black hand, Night chaser, Blood sword master, Sickle man, and a few others of the top dogs were sneaking in to battle the red fang in the vessel.
Then, Marron unleashed his signature,
"World’s pressure"
Bang! Bang! Bang!
With each echoing sound, the ship was forced down. They were in a sort of grip they couldn’t pull out of.
"Hold yourselves," Tad shouted; however, it was in vain, the vessel was already a few meters above the ground.
"Let’s go," Doombringer said to those sneaking in, and they moved.
In their mouths, a plant hung. It was surprising that the pressure didn’t affect them, but it went to show just how much control Marron had over his aura, and it left a certain taste on them.
Would Marron rule over them for a long time?
As soon as they reached, they leaped over to reach the vessel towards its hull.
Doombringer clenched his fist, delivering a devastating blow to the shield. Crack. The barrier splintered, with Maroon’s pressure further widening the fractures.
"Break in!" Doombringer bellowed, the team forcing the gap wider.
Inside, an operator rushed to Tad. "Sir, the shields have been breached!"
"What? How?" Tad snapped.
"I—I don’t know! We didn’t detect them until now."
"Red Fangs!" Tad called.
His men once numbered over a hundred, now barely forty; however, they had hurriedly filled that number as it was a pillar for the family. To show they still stood strong.
"Let’s go." He drew his blade, its edge glowing red, and led them to face the intruders.
As they charged, a distant roar echoed.
Reinforcements had arrived.
