Roadmap to the Boundless Sky-Chapter 145Book 3, : Analysis
Chen Chuan’s gaze remained calm as he stood in Grand Prosperity Finance’s parking lot. He clenched his fist, and the white steam from his hand dispersed as he slowly straightened.
All those who saw this felt their breaths quicken as their hearts raced rapidly.
Quite a number of the Resolution Department officers watching this through the Realm Nodes gulped. The scene was just too striking.
Yan Yi had been searching for records about Feng Yaren on her Realm Pass, so she hadn’t been able to see what Chen Chuan did. All she saw was Feng Yaren’s headless corpse falling backward.
Chen Chuan hadn’t even used his full strength and speed. Instead, he had used his biofield to affect Feng Yaren, then during the brief moment when his opponent was intimidated, he figured out his weakness and used the most logical way to defeat him.
Chen Chuan had figured out that Feng Yaren gathered all his strength in one part of himself. All he needed was a good weapon, and he could execute slashes that were practically impossible to block.
But this sort of distribution of strength was too radical. It forced the martial artist to keep attacking. If his enemy managed to avoid a strike, Feng Yaren would end up exposing his incredibly vulnerable body and become at his enemy’s mercy. Still, if that was all there was to Feng Yaren’s technique, it would have been impossible for him to have made it this far, so Chen Chuan had reason to believe that Feng Yaren had other ways to mobilize his refined force.
Chen Chuan’s plan had been simple. Through the clash of their biofields, he would cause Feng Yaren’s momentum to falter. Then, he would block his strength and use his speed to ruin Feng Yaren’s attempt to mobilize his refined force again.
While he had used the Furnace Breathing Technique just now, he had stopped it immediately after his attack with the help of a technique. Unlike before, he didn’t let the Furnace Breathing Technique continue draining his accumulated energy. All he had used it for was to seize the initiative.
Usually, when powerful martial artists fought, the one who seized even the slightest opening or opportunity won.
After Chen Chuan figured out what Feng Yaren’s biofield conveyed, all he needed to do was to come up with a logical strategy against him.
This was the purpose of biofields. Chen Chuan was pretty sure that Feng Yaren had never gone through proper training in this area, which was why he was at a disadvantage the moment the fight started. If he had been able to hide his information, Chen Chuan wouldn’t have been able to defeat him so easily.
This meant that Jiang Tian had been right. The truly powerful Third Limit martial artists had no weaknesses, but Feng Yaren wasn’t at their level.
Chen Chuan turned around and cast a glance at the group behind him before motioning them to go forward. “Let’s go.”
The security team had been frozen in shock. When they saw him look over, they tensed up. It was only when they received instructions that they quickly escorted Meng Shu forward. When they passed by Feng Yaren’s corpse, they couldn’t help but take a few glances at his body.
The group soon reached Meng Shu’s armored limousine. A woman was ready to receive her, and she immediately opened the car door for her. A few burly security guards shielded her from all angles as they escorted her into the limousine.
Chen Chuan took a quick glance at his surroundings, and his eyes landed on the glazed saber. He went over and picked it up with his foot before grabbing it with his hand.
The saber was fragile but sharp. If a special refined force was injected into it, it could cut through almost everything.
This was a good collector’s item. Chen Chuan grabbed the sheath and put the saber away before walking to the armored limousine and getting inside as well.
Once the door shut, he saw Meng Shu watching him. She did not appear too affected by what had happened.
“Looks like you’re holding up well,” he pointed out.
“I’ve seen quite a lot of such scenes since I was young. Some of them were by accident, and some were shown to me deliberately. I’m used to it,” Meng Shu whispered.
Chen Chuan hummed at that.
He could imagine it. Since Meng Shu was born into a rich family, she got to enjoy all sorts of luxuries, but she also had to endure what would normally break a person’s mind.
“Mr. Chen, can we leave now?” Yan Yi asked.
“It’s okay now. Let’s go,” Chen Chuan said.
Yan Yi told the driver to go, and the first car of the motorcade started moving to the main road. The security guards’ cars followed behind it.
Soon after they left, Captain Guan brought his team to the parking lot. When he saw the headless corpse on the ground and the pieces of flesh and blood behind it, his heart trembled with fear while he exhaled. At the same time, he wondered whether Chen Chuan had actually fought against the Feng Yaren he knew.
Captain Guan had read up on Feng Yaren’s achievements. The man shouldn’t have been this easily defeated.
Yet reality showed him something else, and it could only mean one thing: Chen Chuan was far stronger than Feng Yaren.
He remembered hearing a rumor in the department that Chen Chuan had only become a Third Limit martial artist for a few days when he killed Wei Wusheng with his bare hands. Some time had passed since then, so he should have become even stronger.
Captain Guan leaned down and inspected the corpse. After comparing the corpse’s characteristics with those of Feng Yaren’s, he stood up and contacted the department. “Director Wu, we’ve confirmed that he was indeed Feng Yaren. Yes. They left. Alright, I understand.”
He turned to his team and said, “Call the City Patrol to retrieve the corpse.”
Then, he cast a glance at Grand Prosperity Finance. Even though so much had happened in front of its doorstep, the company didn’t show any reaction. The security guards remained still. Grand Prosperity Finance never cared about what was happening around them. No matter how much a client paid for their services, the moment they stepped out of their door, the clients were no longer any of their business.

Meng Shu’s motorcade didn’t go back to Border Fusion, since it was Meng Huang’s base. Since her cousin had attempted to kill her, she had to avoid him. So, she went straight to her manor in Motie Mountain.
While it seemed like she was handing over decision-making power to Meng Huang by not going to the company, aside from the businesses her grandfather had handed over to her and the money she got, she wasn’t actually that involved in the company’s operations.
“While it has nothing to do with me, I need to know about it: If you don’t go back to the company, how are you going to be part of the company’s affairs? How do you intend to turn the tides?” Chen Chuan asked.
“Meng Huang might be managing a number of the company’s operations in Meng Laigong’s place, but he’s just a representative. Meng Laigong is the real leader. While he has stepped down, he’s still in charge of the two most important things in the company—fiscal power and the R&D Department.
“Also, more than sixty percent of the company’s employees and managers have the company’s implants, which allows them to enjoy the company’s benefits and use our medicine. Meng Huang has yet to get his hands on the secret key to the bioinformation of the implants and the supply channels for the medicine.
“Meng Huang has supporters, yes, but aside from the superficial management authority, he only has the right to research and develop products in new markets, and he hasn’t completely broken into it yet. He also has some sales channels, but due to the long-term cooperation between the company and the government, he doesn’t have much room to expand them.
“Before Meng Laigong officially decides who is going to inherit the company, nothing is set in stone.
“Right now, Miss Shu is a thorn in Meng Huang’s side, and the simplest he can do about it is kill Miss Shu. Then, he will have ample breathing room.
“That’s why Miss Shu’s survival is more important than anything else right now.”
Then, while staring into Chen Chuan’s eyes, Yan Yi said seriously, “Mr. Chen, Meng Huang will keep sending assassins, so I’ll be leaving Miss Shu’s safety in your hands.”
“Since I’ve promised to protect her, I’ll fulfill my promise,” Chen Chuan declared.

In a meeting room inside Border Fusion was a bright screen. At that moment, it was playing Feng Yaren’s murder on repeat.
A man sat on a wide, luxurious sofa while watching it.
Standing in front of him was a bespectacled, gentle-looking, tall young man who seemed like an elite student who had just graduated from university. He was updating the man with new information. “Chen Chuan is strong. I’ve watched his fight against Wei Wusheng before, and his speed was obviously above Wei Wusheng’s. He wasn’t much weaker than Wei Wusheng in terms of strength either. When it comes to technique, they were on par with each other.
“That’s why Wei Wusheng had little hope of winning from the start. His plan was to end the fight as quickly as possible, because if it dragged on and he received no reinforcements, he wouldn’t be able to run away, which was exactly what had happened.
“Now let’s take a look at this video.” He turned to the screen. “Chen Chuan’s physical attributes didn’t improve by much, but that’s normal. It has been less than a month since his fight with Wei Wusheng, so it’s impossible for him to have gotten substantially stronger.
“But he managed to control the rhythm of the fight perfectly, and he practically predicted every one of Feng Yaren’s moves.”
As he spoke, he stood a few steps back and flicked at the screen to drag the video back to a certain point. Then, he started playing it at a slower speed.
“Take a look at this part. Feng Yaren paused here, but he had never hesitated in the past. He shouldn’t have made such a beginner-level mistake.
“That’s why we believe that Chen Chuan used some sort of biofield technique, which affected Feng Yaren. A mistake at this junction is fatal in a fight between martial artists. It led to Feng Yaren being forced into a defensive position, and he was cornered at every turn. That’s why he wasn’t able to attack even once before he died.”
“Can you kill him?” the man asked.
The tall man replied, “While Chen Chuan is strong, he’s not among those we can’t kill. He’s still far from being a top-class martial artist, and he’s alone, to boot.”
“I’ll leave it to you, then. I only want results,” the man declared and stood up from the sofa.
While he was sitting, his height hadn’t been obvious, but once he got up, he stood at more than two meters tall and wasn’t that much shorter than the tall man. The latter could also sense something from the man that brought fear to his heart.
A few security guards in goggles escorted the sitting man out, and the tall man tapped at his Realm Pass. “Boss, Feng Yaren failed, as we expected. He got killed right away. I got the video and watched it. Chen Chuan is strong, but the client asked us to get rid of him. I’ll come over right now.”
