Roadmap to the Boundless Sky-Chapter 85Book 3, : Metamorphosed Snake
After getting out of the tourist cart and taking two steps forward, Chen Chuan heard a splash. Then, he saw a person jumping out of the lake.
The man drew a beautiful arc in the air before falling into the water again. Immediately after, Chen Chuan saw a dark green back belonging to a large lifeform moving in the water. By the looks of it, this creature was chasing after the person.
Lin Yingzi walked over and said, “It’s a test run of one of our services. We have water shields and underwater protection nets, so it’s limited to the lake.”
Chen Chuan remembered seeing that one of the services the Secret Python Cult provided was to fight against a water snake. Could it be this one?
Just then, he looked over and saw loads of tourist carts parked at the bank of the lake diagonally across from them. An endless stream of people was entering an oval-shaped building.
“What’s that service?” Chen Chuan asked.
“It’s an ancient wellness service. We offer bio-implants compatible with it, so it’s popular among the upper- and middle-class in Central City.
“Since you’re a martial artist, that sort of service is useless to you. If you want to buy combat implants, you can speak to Mr. Zuo. We’ll custom-make them for you.”
As she spoke, she sent information of some of their implant services to Chen Chuan’s Realm Pass. “Implants can cover certain weaknesses and increase your fighting strength. If they’re ever damaged, they can be repaired or switched out. We place a lot of attention to customer experience and compatibility when it comes to our implants. When we work together with our clients, their compatibility rate usually reaches more than 50%.”
Chen Chuan didn’t need the implants, but getting to know them wouldn’t do him any harm. It was possible that one day he might run into enemies using the Secret Python Cult’s implants.
They walked around one hundred paces on the wooden path before arriving in front of the glass hut.
Since a lot of trees obscured the vision, Chen Chuan thought that the glass hut was just a regular-sized building. It was only when he was close to it that he realized that the cabin was actually quite long, and what he saw was just its front. A large section of it extended to the botanical garden at the back, making the glass hut look like a long snake.
After walking in through the gate, they saw a two-way crossroad resembling a snake’s forked tongue ahead of them. Lin Yingzi went to the right and motioned Chen Chuan to head in. “This way, Mr. Chen.”
Upon noticing Chen Chuan casting a glance at the other side, Lin Yingzi said, “We offer a similar service over there, though it’s catered for martial artists of a higher limit.”
“The Third Limit, then.”
Chen Chuan gave that place another look before turning away and heading to the right path. Arched glass walls covered the path with beautiful plants behind them. The sun shone through the tree branches, making the narrow space inside feel more open and safe.
After half a minute, they arrived at a cabin supported by a rib vault. Zuo Handan was already waiting there and said with a smile, “Welcome, Mr. Chen.”
Once they shook hands, Zuo Handan brought him to a thick partitioned glass cabin. “Please take a look. This is the metamorphosed snake we picked for you.”
Chen Chuan looked through the glass at a big, long, golden snake wrapped around a tree trunk. At a glance, the snake appeared to be around nine meters long. Even though it didn’t look any different from a regular snake, Chen Chuan was pretty sure that its insides were nothing alike.
“Based on the data you provided, we picked the best metamorphosed snake of its batch. It can provide you with its service for seventy-two hours. The longer you stay inside, the greater the effects will be. No matter what, though, we prioritize your safety, so you can come out whenever you want,” Zuo Handan explained.
He then sent Chen Chuan the information about the snake. It had the snake’s weight, length, grade, and other publicly available information.
There was also a special note below stating that the client had to enter the metamorphosed snake to get its effects. However, there were two cartilages near its throat that would cause the snake to have difficulty breathing and open its mouth once touched. Then, the client could get out.
If the client didn’t feel confident in doing that, the person in charge could use the biofield monitoring function. Once they noticed large fluctuations in the client’s biofield, they could go in, cut apart the metamorphosed snake, and save the client.
Chen Chuan saw all sorts of procedures meant for different situations further down. In all, the information was very detailed. The Secret Python Cult covered all of its bases.
“The metamorphosed snake contains a large blend of nutrients. While it surrounds and presses in on the client, it will deliver nutrients to the client in order to help them restore and retain their stamina. If the client has medicine that can help with their training, they’re welcome to put it into the metamorphosed snake too. The effects will be even greater if they do that.
“But the medicine is not part of the service. If you want some, it can be acquired at an additional cost.”
“Am I only allowed to use the medicine you provide?” Chen Chuan asked.
“Of course not. But if you use our medicine, it’ll be more compatible with the metamorphosed snake. If you use the medicine available in the market, you’ll need a much larger dosage to achieve the intended effects.”
Chen Chuan nodded at that and asked for confirmation, “So, all I need is a larger dosage?”
“Indeed,” Zuo Handan affirmed.
Chen Chuan immediately contacted Green Satchel Pharmacy’s Fan Qingshan. The man answered the call soon enough and asked, “Do you have any questions or requests, Chen Chuan?”
“I would appreciate it if you could fulfill your promise, Mr. Qing,” Chen Chuan said.
Without any hesitation, Fan Qingshan said, “Of course. What medicine do you use during your training? I’ll have someone send it to Martial Valor University.”
“I’m actually at Split Waves Valley right now,” Chen Chuan corrected him.
“The Secret Python Cult?” Fan Qingshan quickly realized where he was.
“That’s right. I bought one of their services,” Chen Chuan added.
As the head of the strategy research group, Fan Qingshan had a clear grasp of the companies and organizations operating in Central City. From what Chen Chuan just requested, he connected the dots and instantly figured out what service Chen Chuan had ordered. “I’ll send the medicine to you right away.”
The large quantity of medicine was nothing to Green Satchel Pharmacy. The drug test data was much more important. He just found it a pity that the Secret Python Cult would never reveal the data of its service to the public.
After the conversation with Fan Qingshan, Chen Chuan said to Zuo Handan, “The medicine should arrive here soon.”
In less than forty-five minutes, an armored transport truck with Green Satchel Pharmacy’s logo drove into Split Waves Valley. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Zuo Handan was quite surprised. Right now, among the Great Shun Republic’s pharmaceutical companies, Green Satchel Pharmacy was the only one that could compete with Tiancong Baicao in terms of size. In an era when medicine became part of everyday life, the pharmaceutical companies held incredible power.
Yet Chen Chuan had managed to make Green Satchel Pharmacy send him medicine with a single call.
Zuo Handan cast Chen Chuan a meaningful look and became much more polite. Then, he instructed one of the workers to inject the medicine into the metamorphosed snake through a tube.
The metamorphosed snake could contain all sorts of medicine with no problem. While it provided its service, it could push the medicine into the client by having its insides press against them. Though the effects of the medicine were bound to weaken somewhat when injected into the metamorphosed snake, they would become gentler and easier to absorb after blending with the nutrients in the metamorphosed snake.
The quantity of medicine Green Satchel Pharmacy delivered was enough for three people, so Zuo Handan could go all out when adding medicine to the snake.
After sitting around and waiting for half an hour in the lounge, Zuo Handan walked out and said to Chen Chuan, “We’re all done with the preparations, Mr. Chen. We can proceed with the service whenever you want. When would you be available?”
“Now.” Chen Chuan stood up.
With a sign from Zuo Handan, Lin Yingzi stepped forward to lead the way and brought Chen Chuan outside a cabin.
“There’s a bathroom and changing room inside. You can put your personal belongings in there. No one else will enter the place. A service staff will be waiting outside. If you have any requests, you can talk to him.”
Chen Chuan opened the door and walked in. It was an enclosed space with no windows. There was a door ahead of him, and behind it was the metamorphosed snake.
Since he needed to remove his Realm Pass for this service, he had given Gao Ming a heads-up and told him that he would be unable to contact the outside world for a few days. He also told Wu Bei and Lu Fang about it and asked them to wait until he was out of the metamorphosed snake if they were going to do anything.
He turned off his Realm Pass and put it in an isolation box before going into the changing room and changing into the dive suit-like clothes the Secret Python Cult had prepared for him.
The clothes were made of breathable biofilm that didn’t stick to his skin. Instead, it felt like a thick layer of skin and would become a buffer when the metamorphosed snake squeezed him. At the same time, it would also help him absorb the medicine.
When he was done, he walked to the door. The moment he pushed it open, he overlapped with his second self.
Since his current body was far stronger than that of any other Second Limit martial artist, to the point where he could fight on equal ground with a Third Limit martial artist, the effects from the metamorphosed snake for Second Limit martial artists would be limited. To offset this, he chose to be in his pre-fusion state. That way, he could get the full effects.
Once the door swung open, he saw a tube-shaped tunnel that was around thirty meters in length and reminded him of a snake’s body. He walked down the tunnel to the cabin he had seen outside.
Then, he looked up. The huge snake had wound itself around the thick, manmade trunk and was staring at him with almond-colored eyes.
According to the instructions, Chen Chuan spread his arms. The action seemed to have provoked the snake, because it suddenly shot down, opened its mouth, and swallowed him whole.
