Chapter 403: Morning Attire

Ackster wasn’t aware of it himself, but his groan of displeasure rang out across the world. Everyone alive heard it, and they felt it deep down to the very cores of their existence. Something that shouldn’t be disturbed had awoken.

The innocent mortals of Millmeria felt and heard it. The ones responsible for the ruckus felt and heard it.

Everyone felt the same trepidation.

However, there were a few exceptions that didn’t feel fear. They felt excitement. The voice was a little different due to the scope and power behind it. But after hearing that voice once, it was impossible to forget.

Ackster was tired. He was capable of recreating his body and venturing out into the world. But he would much rather stay in bed as a marble of gold, red, and black.

Still, it seemed like the world itself wanted him to get up.

In protest of his forced early awakening, Ackster dressed himself in slippers, a bathrobe, an eye mask on his forehead, and pajama pants. He also carried a steaming cup of coffee.

The memories of Earth might be fake. But that didn’t make them any less real.

Ackster closed his eyes for a moment. He was too sluggish to bother with anything complicated, like sensing the depths and limits of his power or exercising precise control. But he had to find out what was going on, so he looked for a familiar aura, any familiar aura.

Fortunately, it seemed like most of the people he knew had gathered in one place.

Ackster sighed in relief. It didn’t seem like anyone had died. Well, anyone except him.

It was the best result he could have hoped for, and it made Ackster happier than he would have ever thought before now.

Still, he had saved everyone’s lives and the world. Couldn’t they keep the peace and quiet for a little longer?

Ackster teleported to where everyone else was. He wasn’t clear about the details. He couldn’t be bothered to figure them out, either. If it had been before, when he was desperate for strength, he would have spared no time to figure out how his own strength worked. But there was no reason for that now.

Ackster felt he could do it, so he did it.

Ackster appeared next to Mio and Wilma without making a noise. He glanced at the others.

Karandiel’s leg was still weak. Makkel had lost a tooth. Mara and Kargas seemed fine. Wilma, too. Shanshi seemed to be better than ever. Mastrax looked angry. But he was the same as always.

What surprised Ackster the most was that Mio wasn’t the same cute slime he was used to. She had transformed into a human, and she had done an amazing job.

It was better than a Doppelganger Slime’s imitation. But there was no fooling Ackster’s senses.

The cutie pie with shiny, wavy light blue hair, clear eyes, perfect features, and proportions that seemed to be an exact match for Ackster’s preferences was, without a doubt, Mio, the slime that had accompanied him from day two.

But Ackster was only surprised for a moment. Considering Mio’s diet, it was only a matter of time before she evolved to develop a human form. Her talent for disguises also only made it obvious it would be a perfect human.

<Hey.>

Ackster sipped his coffee. It was bitter. He greeted them, surprised at his own voice. He glanced down for a moment as everyone slowly turned their heads to look at him, at first shocked by his sudden appearance and then overjoyed.

Mio was the first to throw herself at him. However, after a moment, she stiffened and transformed back into a slime as she curled up in Ackster’s arm.

Ackster raised an eyebrow as he glanced at Mio before looking where everyone had been facing before he showed up.

<What’s—Ahem, excuse me.>

Ackster cleared his throat. There was no need to speak with such a powerful voice.

"Now. What’s going on? What fucking bastard woke me up?"

While waiting for them to answer, Ackster invited everyone to a group hug. He could tell they had missed him just like he had missed them. But they would be there all day if he waited for them to verbally express their feelings one at a time. Even deciding on an order where they weren’t talking over each other could take a day. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

It was better to just hug like their lives depended on it and settle the most pressing matter, whatever it was. They could talk all about their feelings and what they had been up to later.

After hugging in silence for a few moments, the world started shaking again. It was what had awoken and forced Ackster out of bed.

No, the world wasn’t shaking. It was trembling. And it wasn’t the world. It was the world’s barrier that kept intruders out that trembled under repeated attacks.

"We don’t know."

Wilma took it upon herself to answer. It wasn’t a satisfactory answer, but it was an answer nonetheless.

Ackster narrowed his eyes.

"Well, it seems like we have some uninvited guests."

Ackster sighed. There really wasn’t an end to this.

Ackster swept his hand through the air in the direction of the attacks above the world. There wasn’t much he could do when they were on the other side of the barrier. But he could open the barrier and let them in. He wasn’t sure why he could do that. Maybe it was because he put on that band-aid.

But when the world’s barrier opened, it revealed the existences hidden on the other side. An army clad in shiny armor of various colors led by powerful beings that overpowered Ackster’s comrades with their presence alone stood in the blue sky—in Ackster’s blue sky.

The taste of Ackster’s coffee soured, and he threw it away.

"Anyone want front-row seats?"

Mio, Mara, Karandiel, and a black-haired, red-eyed woman with a devious beauty that seemed to surpass even Karandiel’s raised their hands. Well, Mio raised a tentacle.

The black-haired woman’s body was similar in proportions to Mio’s for some reason.

"Anatol."

Anatol nodded.

Ackster returned the nod before bringing everyone in the air up with him. There was no way he was going to let these intruders make him bend his neck. He wasn’t going to let them stand above him.
