Rogue Villain-Chapter 416: Little Birdie
After shutting Karandiel up, Mio glanced at Mara for a moment before stiffening up and slowly turning around to look at Ackster.
"You get it, right?"
"Already wiped from my memory."
"Excellent."
"Where’s Puppy, by the way? I haven’t seen him yet."
"He hasn’t stopped flying since that final battle. He evolved or something. I think it was a combination of eating parts of you, who turned into a god, and playing a significant role in The Hero’s defeat. He’s got twelve wings."
Ackster raised his eyebrows. He hadn’t expected Puppy to evolve so quickly again. But maybe the proximity to something so dangerous as The Hero, the Voice, and the Observer had spurred Puppy’s dormant instincts and genes that had slumbered ever since it took over its miniature world.
Combined with Ackster’s flesh, blood, and Ichor of limitless potential, maybe it wasn’t so strange that Puppy evolved again. But Ackster looked forward to the bird’s speed.
However, as excited as he was, Ackster was also tired.
He hadn’t recovered completely yet, and he had used part of his power to control the world barrier and devour the three gods. He didn’t have to go to sleep. Ackster could force himself to stay awake.
But there was no reason to. Ackster still had to figure out why Millmeria had passed its expiry date without collapsing. And he had to properly settle things with the ladies.
The ladies were probably anxious. But they had received a positive answer, so they could wait as long as they had to. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Ackster yawned so deeply that even the other three grew tired. They could tell he was going to go back to wherever and rest. He didn’t even need to say anything.
Ackster stood up and yawned again. He was about to teleport back to the Core. But before doing that, he looked Mio straight in her eyes. She felt like returning to her slime form but stopped herself. She met Ackster’s gaze.
"I’m getting curious. I hope you’re willing to talk next time."
Mio nodded. She didn’t promise anything, but her nod promised that she would try to be ready by then. She transformed back into a slime and plopped to the ground.
"Well then, I’ll be going."
Mara bowed with her hands in front of her. Karandiel waved. Mio waved but with a tentacle.
Ackster gave a light smile before disappearing in front of their eyes. None of them sensed how he had done it. One moment, he was right there. The next, he was gone like he never existed.
"I think we have a long way to go if we ever want to cath up to him."
Mara nodded in agreement to Karandiel’s statement.
"Let’s not make him wait too long. We should be able to deal with trouble like the Celestial Realm on our own by the time he recovers."
*You two do that. I’m going to talk to Ana and make sure she’s on the same page.*
Mio transformed back into her human form and dropped down from the sky toward Anatol. The other two looked at each other for a moment before starting to fight. After all, the best way for them to grow was to train and spar. But the only people they could spar with were each other.
Ackster spread his senses a final time and made sure he wouldn’t have to deal with any more bothersome issues as soon as he fell asleep. He noticed Mara and Karandiel’s fight erupt. At first, he was worried he had been right and that they were settling who would get Ackster. But that wasn’t the case. They were too happy and excited for that to be the case.
It also seemed like both of them had been on board with the idea of sharing him. It excited Ackster a little.
Ackster also noticed the rest of his party doing their own things. He got a little curious about what Mio and Anatol were up to. But he didn’t spy. It would have been one thing if it were just Anatol. But Ackster wasn’t going to invade Mio’s privacy. He trusted her. She would tell him whatever he wanted to know when she was ready. She was just having some technical difficulties.
Shanshi was busy hissing at the ball of Ichor he found in his Inventory. Mastrax wasn’t much different. But he wasn’t hissing at the Ichor because he couldn’t touch or control it. Ackster had intentionally made Mastrax’s Ichor gentler and easier to interact with.
The Ichor was just too powerful. It wasn’t easy, even for Mastrax, to get it to fuse with the Tortoise King and strengthen it even further.
Kargas was busy roaming the world and checking up on the few dragons with relative activity. He didn’t do anything. He just made sure they weren’t acting up in the wake of chaos that had swept over the world. After all, they had lost their dens, homes, treasures, and whatever else was precious to them, just like everybody else in Millmeria.
Unlike everybody else, however, the rage of dragons was enough to tear apart what remained of the world.
Things were better lately. But then rumors of a war with the Celestial Realm started spreading. Kargas was getting ahead of the trouble and ensuring peace the way only he could.
’I wonder if Trana is alright.’
Ackster hadn’t heard from her since the time she killed him. She had said she was going to rest, but the world almost ended. It couldn’t have been easy for a resting dragon to sleep with that kind of noise. If she were unlucky, she might even have gotten swept up in it and gotten even more injured or died.
Fortunately, that hadn’t happened.
Ackster found where he had slept the last few years and walked over to the bed, which was fine, even in the Core’s blazing heat. He was too tired to think about why.
"Do you have a minute?"
However, before Ackster could even lay down, a soft but, at the same time, hard voice spoke from another corner of the surprisingly spacious Core.
Ackster turned around and looked at the clay figure with sharp eyes.
