Rotting Land: Survive-Chapter 385 - 383: Shuren Architecture College (Part 3)
"Zhao Huilong!?" Recognizing the figure that approached, Wang Zhongyu blurted out.
But before he could react further, Zhao Huilong, who had trouble with his legs, waved his hands urgently and shouted, "Quick! Xiao Wang! Quick! You must... hurry..."
"Hurry about what?" In a few steps, Wang Zhongyu reached Zhao Huilong’s front, placing a hand on the other’s shoulder: "Calm down! Speak slowly, is there something wrong upstairs?"
Taking two deep breaths, Zhao Huilong’s eyes flashed with horror: "They... they, Old Zhao and the others are trapped by zombies upstairs!"
"What!" Wang Zhongyu’s mouth opened in astonishment, and he immediately pursued, "What floor? Which floor are they trapped on?"
"Third floor! Near the forefront office! I just chased up intending to help, but as soon as I reached the staircase, I heard chaos inside, so I hurried down to find you for support!"
For Old Zhao and the others to be trapped in a bitter fight, the number of zombies must be imagined. But how could there be so many mutated beasts in this teaching building during the summer break?
Time was pressing, and Wang Zhongyu couldn’t think too much; he instantly responded, "Okay, let’s hurry up!"
Saying this, Wang Zhongyu turned and ran forward, but after two steps, he stopped again, glancing back at Zhao Huilong.
"Uh... what’s wrong, Xiao Wang?" Seeing Wang Zhongyu’s abrupt halt, Zhao Huilong asked hesitantly.
"Judging by the injury on your leg, maybe you should stay down here. Instead, wait for me in the car; I’ll lure the zombies down later, and then we’ll use the car to play with these beasts."
Considering the potential for a blockade, Wang Zhongyu sensibly understood that he couldn’t overcome this alone.
So he planned to use himself as bait, draw the zombie horde attacking Old Zhao and the others, then utilize the high mobility of the Jeep Wrangler to "lead" the zombies gradually, thus buying enough escape time for Old Zhao and the others.
In response to Wang Zhongyu’s plan, Zhao Huilong, seeing the bigger picture, did not object. He nodded in agreement with Wang Zhongyu’s command: "Alright! My leg would just be a hindrance if I went up there, so I’ll wait downstairs! Be careful!"
Casually waving his hand in the air, Wang Zhongyu turned and sped off toward the staircase.
The third floor came quickly, but to Wang Zhongyu’s surprise, the expected "screams and shouts" did not occur; not even noisy chaos was heard, and the long corridor was eerily empty, except for a few dead bodies, with no sign of anything else.
The zombies? Didn’t Zhao Huilong say the zombies were blocking the building?
Feeling several question marks arise within his heart, Wang Zhongyu still prepared himself with Steel Blade in hand.
Step by step, he moved towards the corridor’s front end, where Zhao Huilong had given him information earlier.
This time, as his figure advanced, Wang Zhongyu faintly heard some "rustling" sounds.
"How’s it going? Old Zhao, did you find it?"
Shaking his head slightly, Zhao Yunhai squeezed a resigned smile toward Yue Guishan before asking Bi Dahu, "What about you? Did you see the key?"
"Found some food and drinks, but as for the key..." Equally shaking his head, it seemed Old Zhao’s "big gamble" had failed.
Although the room hadn’t been turned completely upside down, every potential place for a key had been searched by Zhao, Bi, and Yue.
So, the failure was evident.
"What do we do, should we keep searching?"
Faced with this question, Old Zhao didn’t know how to answer, and as he hesitated with frustration, the door that had been half-closed suddenly creaked open.
Simultaneously, Steel Blades pointed at the wooden door, an instinctive reaction executed in perfect unison.
"Uh! It’s me! Calm down everyone!" Startled by three blades suddenly aimed at him, Wang Zhongyu jumped in surprise.
"It’s you! Xiao Wang!?" Taken aback, the three holding blades were surprised by Wang Zhongyu’s appearance, but Old Zhao soon realized the issue, and his face darkened: "Why did you come up? Was there a problem with the car?"
Old Zhao’s question immediately worried Bi and Yue, as the car was their "lifeline"; if something happened to it, their lives would be near their end.
"Ah?" At this moment, Wang Zhongyu’s confusion was no less than the trio’s opposite him; his chaotic mind hadn’t yet sorted out what was happening: "No! The car is fine! I came up because Zhao Huilong said you were surrounded by zombies, so..."
"Damn!" Realizing a possibility, Zhao Yunhai’s face sank: "You said Zhao Huilong told you this?"
"Yes! He said it! But you’re not..."
"Where is he now?"
"He’s..."
Just as the words "downstairs" were about to leave Wang Zhongyu’s mouth, a loud roar sounded outside the window.
"Damn it!!" In a jump, Zhao Yunhai rushed to the window, seeing the black Jeep Wrangler roaring away through his eyes.
"Bastard! Zhao Huilong! Do you have any humanity?! Get your ass back here!"
"Damn it, you Zhao, this is how you live? Forgetting who saved you before?"
Yue Guishan and Bi Dahu couldn’t accept being played again, spewing curses one after another as if only by venting could they ease their angry hearts.
"Enough! Stop cursing! He’s already gone; he won’t hear you even if you keep shouting!" Raising his hand to lightly tap Yue and Bi’s shoulders, Old Zhao indicated for them to calm down.
"I’m sorry, Uncle Zhao, it’s all my fault! If only I could’ve..."
"Don’t think too much, Xiao Wang! In a hurry, I would have made the same decision as you! Besides, it was I who brought that bastard into the car, so if there’s blame, it should fall on me!"
Thinking back to his foolish decision half an hour ago, Zhao Yunhai wished he could smack himself twice!
"Hey, stop fussing over blame and hurry over to see this!" Pointing outside the window, Bi Dahu’s voice trembled.
Not daring to lag, Zhao Yunhai hurriedly returned to the window, looking in the direction Bi Dahu indicated, and this glance made his already tight scalp bristle.
Through the rain curtain, dozens of moving figures were gathering from all directions toward the teaching building; although their numbers weren’t too great, who could guarantee there weren’t more hidden beyond sight?
After all, the commotion stirred up by the action team had hit the zombies’ limit!
A crisis was imminent, and what fate the action team would face next, perhaps only heaven would know... (To be continued.
