S.P.E.C.T.O.R-Chapter 523: Maiya’s predicament
“This would take time and in and of itself is not the issue,” Rowena continued, “The issue lies in people discovering Earth’s location before it officially becomes a member of the Universal Senate. If it’s not a member of the senate, then it is not protected under universal law and people would be free to harvest it for its valuable resources, as well as make slaves out of the populace.
Normally, a newly discovered planet goes through the Universal Senate joining process while the subspace relay point is being installed and it only comes online after they have successfully joined.
During this time, a fleet is dispatched to protect said planet from any of these individuals who happen to discover its location.
Now, while Earth is a great distance away from the Sandanar Galaxy, it is not impossible to reach, just as you proved when you travelled to the Sandanar Galaxy from Earth. So there is always the possibility that some individuals will make the trip.
Then there is the rapid developmental aspect that needs to be considered. When a far less advanced race is discovered and joins the Universal Senate, one of the things the senate does is send out representatives who help and advise that race on how to safely advance there technolgy up to the universal standard. Earth wouldn’t have this and so they would go about advancing all their technology by listening to random people they find on the Universal Subspace Network.”
“And god knows what they could end up doing if they decide to listen to a troll like Handsome three horns,” Stacey commented.
Sector 14, Archimedes Galaxy, Vinox 2.
The individual with the Universal Subspace Network ID Handsome3horns suddenly sneezed and scratched his nose before saying, “Some sexy woman is probably talking about me. Maybe it’s Diva Rowena and her sexy ass.”
Sector 17, Felidae Galaxy, Felinia Seven.
“So you're saying it’s not a good idea to install a universal relay point in the Milky Way Galaxy?” Adam asked.
“Not without considering the ramifications and maybe putting some safeguards in place,” Rowena replied.
“Are we even allowed to install a subspace relay point?” Adam asked curiously.
“That…. I’m not sure about,” Rowena replied.
“Why would you want to install a subspace relay point?” Aphrodite’s voice suddenly asked as she entered the room, followed by Eri, who, until now, had always let her long hair hang loose, was now sporting one long braided ponytail.
“She looks cute, right?” Aphrodite asked Adam as she noticed him admiring Eri’s new hairstyle.
“She does, it suits you,” Adam remarked, causing Eri to blush.
“See, I told you it looked good,” Aphrodite replied happily.
“Ummm, keep it down, some of us are trying to sleep,” Lorelie suddenly grumbled, causing everyone to look at her.
“I really think you should go lie down on the bed,” Adam stated.
“No!” Lorelie refused before saying, “Your lap is my bed.”
Everyone looked at her in amusement before Aphrodite asked quietly, “So what’s this about a subspace relay point?”
“It’s like this,” Rowena replied before she took the initiative to explain while Aphrodite and Eri sat down.
“It’s a grey area,” Aphrodite replied before continuing, “It’s illegal to set up subspace relay points without permission, which is why there is a dedicated department that handles it. However, it’s not illegal to possess them.”
“I see what you're getting at,” Rowena said as she shared a smirk with Aphrodite before continuing, “Since you're not subject to universal law, and it’s not illegal to possess one. You would therefore not be breaking any laws by setting one up in your home galaxy.”
“Haha,” Stacey laughed before saying with a teasing tone, “Your entire existence is like one entire loophole in universal law, babe.”
Adam smirked before playfully biting one of Stacey’s arms that was still draped over his shoulders, causing her to yelp in shock.
“I can reprogram the subspace relay point prior to activation to prevent it from informing everyone in the Milky Way Galaxy about how to access the Universal Subspace Network and also link it into your stream so that only those with access to your stream have access to the Universal Subspace Network,” Spector suddenly announced.
“Well, that’s certainly one way to prevent it from happening,” Aphrodite replied with a chuckle.
“Then what do you think about asking Emma to be the face of Spector Entertainment and future companies?” Rowena asked with a smile.
“It would mean you returning to Earth,” Stacey pointed out.
“Yay, let’s take a trip to Earth, I want to see Adam’s home world,” Tephe exclaimed excitedly.
“There isn’t really much to see. It’s far less advanced compared to what you're used to and the air is nowhere near as clean since we don’t have weather control tech,” Adam stated.
“I would still like to see it,” Tephe said in excitement.
“As would I,” Rowena stated as Stacey and Aphrodite nodded in agreement.
“Adam’s home, should visit soon,” Lorelie suddenly mumbled in her sleep, making the others chuckle.
“I honestly never expected to be able to return to Earth, so I’ve never really thought about it much. Now that I can, I’m wondering if there’s even anything back there for me,” Adam remarked.
“Are you not bothered about the five families continuing to frame you for Jessie’s death?” Stacey asked with a frown.
“Of course I am, but clearing my name won’t bring her back and I never planned to clear it in the first place since the plan was always to leave Earth after getting my revenge.
Also, I would rather spend my time experiencing the universe with all of you than getting revenge on them,” Adam replied, making them all smile before he added, “I suppose if we find a reason to return, I will go have a talk with the heads of the five families again.”
“Isn’t collecting this Emma Hopkins a good reason?” Tephe asked.
“Only if I decide to give her the job and she accepts,” Adam replied before turning to Rowena and asking, “Can you ask Erkath to subtly broach the subject with her and see how she reacts?”
“Sure, but why not contact Emma yourself?” Rowena asked.
“As I said before, our previous two meetings involved me threatening either her or those she was with, so I would like to get a feeling regarding her attitude towards me first,” Adam explained.
“I don’t think someone does a full background check on someone they're not interested in,” Stacey remarked.
“True, but we don’t know the exact reason she did the background check; for all we know, it could be for some ulterior motive,” Adam replied.
“She seems like a nice person when she’s talking in your chat,” Tephe remarked.
“People can say anything they want on the net, which is why trolls exist, in that Earth and the rest of the universe are the same,” Adam replied.
“I guess,” Tephe remarked as she remembered a scene from her dream where Tephe Two was trolling people on Xer-verse.
“Very well, I will message Erkath and pass on your request,” Rowena stated before accessing her uniband.
“Thanks,” Adam replied.
“Anytime, darling,” Rowena said while giving him a beautiful smile that made Aphrodite pout in jealousy.
“What happened?” Matriarch Maiya asked her assistant Sata, who stood on the opposite side of her desk.
Sata sighed before beginning her explanation. “It seems that the first ship on scene after the jumpgates destruction was the Taiki….”
“I know this part already,” Maiya interrupted with annoyance before ordering, “Skip to the part about why explosions occurred at the space station.”
“I was trying to. Maiya,” Sata said with a frown before snapping, “There is new information that you don’t know, so just shut up and let me tell you.”
“Ok, ok, sorry,” Maiya replied while shrinking back slightly. It was rare for Sata to snap at Maiya like that, since even though they were close friends, Maiya was technically her boss. However, when she did snap like that, it meant that she was in a bad mood.
“After Spector Unit Six departed from the scene of the jumpgate's destruction, the Taiki began a full sweep of the area and it seems they discovered one of the arms of Spector Unit Six that appears to have been blasted off during the battle.”
“WHY THE FUCK ARE WE ONLY FINDING OUT ABOUT THIS NOW?” Maiya yelled in rage after hearing the report.
“The captain of the Taiki is part of Aimi’s faction,” Sata replied.
“That name is a fucking curse, first her idiot nephew and now the ship,” Maiya cursed.
“It seems the captain in charge of the fleet patrolling the destroyed jump gate is also part of Aimi’s faction. He ordered the Taiki to secretly transport the arm to Research and Development Department Two, which is also aligned with Aimi’s faction.
Something must have gone wrong when they were examining it that caused the explosions aboard the space station.”
“Fucking idiots. Here I am trying to make Diva Lorelie’s boyfriend an ally of our race and they're off stealing his shit to try and reverse engineer it.
Can’t I just fucking kill Aimi already?”
“You know very well that without a justifiable reason, you can’t kill her. Only if she were to challenge you to a leadership battle would you be within your rights. Unfortunately, she is too smart for that because she knows that she is no match for you in a one-on-one fight.”
“Fuck!” Maiya cursed again as she slumped back in her chair before asking, “What do we do about this? Do we tell Diva Lorelie’s boyfriend that some of our race tried to reverse engineer his tech and possibly make an enemy out of him? Or keep it quiet and hope he doesn’t find out, in which case we will definitely make an enemy out of him.”
