Saintess? Not Anymore! I'd Rather be a Destroyer-Chapter 314 - 251: Alex
The underground stadium was filled with the sound of cheering by thousands of people, as they watched the spectacle going on in the middle. A girl who looked to be no more than 13 was fighting against towering stone golems. Her short black hair was adorned with two equally black cat ears, and the rags she wore didn’t do much to cover the numerous battle scars she had gotten on her gray skin. Her extremities were covered in black fur and a small black tail sprouted right above her butt.
"It seems I was right to come here on the Saintess’s order!" A healer muttered, his name was Alex and he was one of the thousands of spectators in the stadium. But as he approached the stands he was greeted with countless gazes, some filled with confusion or surprise. It wasn’t often that someone from the church would visit a place like the stadium.
His eyes held a light green color and his blonde hair was cut short. On his chin was a thick bush-like clump of hair. The pink robe he wore attracted a lot of attention, but he shrugged it off and continued to watch the battle unfold.
As the last stone golem shattered into rock fragments the crowd cheered.
Since the catgirl was done with battling, the host walked inside the arena once more. Behind him a few of the staff ran up, chains in their hands. Since she was tired from her fight and the staff smiled confidently as they surrounded her. Chaining her proved an easy task since she couldn’t resist due to her slave collar, it forbade her from hurting them.
"I’ll buy this little girl," Alex declared loudly as he walked up to her.
"My I didn’t know people of the church were interested in slaves. Please do me a favor and let me buy this girl," a round man wearing luxurious clothing said, flashing Alex a condescending smile.
Alex looked away, choosing to pay him no mind. ’The Saintess was right, they truly have no respect for us,’ He thought.
"I’ll be buying her," Alex continued, as if there wasn’t another bidder.
"Ahem, would you tell me your name, I’m Ray," The round man introduced himself, wrinkles showing on his ugly face due to annoyance.
Maintaining his gaze forward he responded, "It’s Alex."
"Mister Alex, I don’t think you understand the situation here, I’m the son of the Marquis Green and my father has specifically told me to buy this slave. So if you could be kind enough to let me buy her I’ll make sure to send some gifts to the church," Ray explained, trying to use his authority.
"As I said before I’m buying this girl, also please show me the other slaves you have," Alex ignored everything Ray said, and continued on his mission.
"Sure Sir Alex," the slave house host responded respectfully.
"The church sure has been getting cocky," Ray mumbled.
"Then I might as well get rid of this pest," Ray smirked and moved his fingers as a magic circle appeared on the ground. In less than a second, two shadow dogs appeared as they charged at Alex.
’The church members are always known for having no combat capabilities, I’m sure they won’t care if a mere healer dies,’ Ray quietly thought, not giving much thought about killing a church worker.
Sensing the danger approaching Alex began to shiver. He had never fought anything in his entire life.
’I’m I going to die here?’ he thought.
As the dogs were about to bite him his eyes glowed and he suddenly materialized a double-edged ax that was as long as a spear and had beautiful engravings on it with a white gem in the middle.
In an instant, he sliced through the dogs like they were butter. It was instinct to Alex, he didn’t consciously decide to defend himself.
Ray, seeing his summons be destroyed with ease, started to tremble in fear.
"How can a healer wield a weapon?!" Ray said, however due to his fear, he stuttered heavily.
[ You have awakened a subclass Axeman with the help of the White Gemaris goddess. ]
[ Congratulations on killing two level 10 spirit hounds you have reached level 3. The White Gemaris goddess has boosted your power so for 6 hours you’ll have the abilities of a High human. ]
Alex looked at the strange screen before him in shock before he composed himself.
’I guess this is what the Saintess meant when she said we’ll be receiving the benefits of the White Gemaris goddess. This screen also looks like the one on a job stone,’ he noted.
’In this life being soft is not allowed.’
"Were you the one who attacked me?!" Alex asked, noticing Ray’s scared demeanor. He started walking towards Ray, the huge ax being on his shoulder. The bodyguards standing near to Ray stood at alert.
The people spectating were also in shock to see that a healer could fight. The whole confrontation had occurred on the arena ground.
"Are you sure he’s a healer?" a person asked.
"He is! I know this guy. I have seen him heal me with my very eyes. He’s definitely a healer."
"How is that possible? He’s clearly wielding an ax!"
"I think there’s a misunderstanding here, I’m not the one who summoned those spirits," Ray denied but his nervous expression gave him away.
"Oh so now I’m blind?" Alex asked with a frown.
"No, no," Ray spoke nervously. He had his hand outstretched in a calling motion. The pressure he was feeling was unreal.
"To think the authority of the church is taken so lightly that a mere marquis’ son would harm a member of the church," Alex’s voice, which had been calm and low, was slowly rising. Rage was rising in him.
Even seeing the current situation no one has decided to help him. He was really blind in the past.
"Well if you should have let me buy the slave none of this would have happened!!" Ray yelled as he couldn’t put up with Alex. He couldn’t believe that a mere healer dared to be disrespectful to him.
"Such disrespect! In this world, the church authority is that of a duke!!" Alex screamed, angry.
Alex then charged toward Ray. He swung his ax furiously, turning him and his bodyguards into a bloody mess within seconds. They couldn’t even defend, he used a maximum of 3 swings. One for each person.
The people present watched in shock at the scene but no one spoke. Everyone had always known that the church was a group of foolishly kind and selfless people, but who would have thought today they would see their dark side.
"As I said I’ll buy this girl and please let me see the other slaves," Alex said with a cold look.
"Sure thing let me escort you," the slave house host responded timidly as he led the way.
