Saintess? Not Anymore! I'd Rather be a Destroyer-Chapter 317 - 254: Handsome
"But still, we knew you would die," Deille said.
"But you protected me when you could Deille, so I must repay that favor. I have a question though."
"What is it?"
"How come you followed me so easily? In the past, you were so faithful to Paige that even as you were soon to be burned at the stake, you still believed. How come this time, in this life, you changed your mind." 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
There was a pause at the table, Aurianna watching attentively. She knew the effect her skill had, making all fall in line to her, yet she still wanted to see his reasons. To know what justification he created for himself.
He sighed, "It was difficult for me in all honesty. No offense but those memories you implanted in our minds, while plausible also could’ve been manufactured. So that wasn’t why. I wanted to see how you would do things for a time, as well as the truth. The truth I found is that no matter what we did for Paige, for the people, we would never be honored and respected for our actions. Many who ventured out told me stories about how we were looked down upon, how little we were cared for. At the end of the day all I had was the church, ever since I was taken in as a child and the fact that the same church could be prosecuted at any moment scared me. That is why I decided to follow you."
"Hmm. So that’s what your rationale was... Can’t say I blame you. If you all hadn’t chosen to follow me you surely would’ve met a harsh end. Possibly a worse one than in my previous life."
Deille gave a solemn nod in agreement.
"Also I’ve been waiting to ask, who are you really?"
Deille raised an eyebrow at her question. She simply stared at him coldly, clearly sizing up his reaction or whatever answer he was planning to give. However he tilted his head, "What kind of question is that?"
"From the amount of aura and mana surrounding you you probably have two job classes. I can sense it even though you’re trying to hide it. I can’t figure out your true strength but I know you’re strong," Aurianna said, examining him.
"Was that another reason for you following and watching from the sidelines? Believing you could defeat me if need be?"
Deille was silent, just staring at her. She wasn’t sure what he was thinking, not only did his lips stay closed but his demeanor as well. Having a straight face despite her calling him out like she did.
She continued, "You also seem different. If I’m right you’re an evolved human. No, rather an Arc Human!"
’A Arc Human, a human who has reached a level and broken their limits. Like how beasts can evolve, humans can evolve into Arc Humans and live for a much longer time. What’s more, they possess extreme battle prowess or a high affinity for magic. The church of Paige is more interesting than I thought. For an Arc Human to just be a Head Priest,’ Aurianna thought with a smirk.
"You’re smarter than how you were in the past," Deille chuckled.
She couldn’t tell if he was smiling though, due to his hood which shadowed most of his face. The only thing she’d been able to see clearly were his purple wine colored eyes that never seemed to shift, allowing any emotion to show through them.
Aurianna smiled as a retort to his backhanded compliment.
She moved closer to him slightly, "By the way, Isn’t it about time I see your face? You are one of my loyal followers after all."
"I don’t think so," Deille waved his hand in a dismissive manner.
"Remember you can’t disobey me because of the mark," Aurianna pointed at her eye, flashing a devious smirk.
"Tch troublesome brat!" Deille clicked his tongue and while being slightly hesitant, he pulled down the hood from his head.
Aurianna and the rest of the people present watched in shock at the man before them.
He had smooth light brown skin and now without the hood on, his purple colored eyes were on full display as they were darting around the room. While he wasn’t blushing it was clear he was embarrassed, not used to being put on the spot like he was now.
His black hair, while not extremely long, was long enough to cover his ears and right eye. The hood must’ve held it back because both eyes could be seen previously. While the rest of his body still was covered by the robe, since the hood had been pulled back, his neck was visible as well. To Aurianna’s surprise it was very muscular, implying he had a very toned body despite being a priest. However the strangest thing might’ve been his age, as he seemingly appeared to be a man in his mid-20s. He looked very youthful.
Aurianna took a deep breath to calm down because there was only one word to describe this man- Handsome! Absolutely gorgeous!
At first, when meeting him she doubted that he was a priest due to his burly body because most priests are slim and barely have muscles.
’Forget Batholem, Vatium and the Nervon city king. They can’t even compare to Deille’s handsome look. Don’t worry Peter, you still have room for improvement,’ Aurianna quietly thought.
"It’s such a pity that he’s an old misser," Aurianna shook her head disappointedly.
’Who is she calling old?!’ Deille thought to himself angrily.
Aurianna, picking up on Deille’s unpleasant look made her want to tease him more.
"If you’re not old then how old are you then?"
Deille looked at Aurianna nervously before responding, "346 years old."
"Hahahahahah," Aurianna laughed.
"I don’t believe I look old though."
"Well, I’m more worried for the ladies whom your face would seduce, just to tell them that you’re old enough to be their great grandpa!!" Aurianna laughed, not noticing Deille’s death glare. The others immediately turned away as they focused on their food not wanting to get involved. Their desire to stay safe and breathing outweighed their curiosity about Deille’s appearance.
"Jokes aside, I think I realize why my father hates you. You have the healthy body he could never have," Aurianna said as she stared at him.
Deille remained silent. Reading his expression as best she could, she could tell he didn’t disagree. He was very calm to hear such a claim, implying it was truthful.
Taking his silence for an answer on Girsal’s hatred for Deille, she continued, "I’m curious. Could you tell me what your relationship with my father was? You seemed to have history besides him just wanting to increase his life and heal his body."
Deille released a labored sigh. Turning to look Aurianna in the eye seriously.
"If you wish, I will explain. As much as I can."
