Chapter 339: Chapter 276: Fall of the Calvanot empire part 1

The White Gemaris was looking down with an evil smile, towers burning behind her as millions of flying stars could be seen across the sky, almost making rainbow colors.

Her clothes were dyed in blood, though it didn’t seem to be hers as no injuries were visible on her body.

Suddenly, the White Gemaris grabbed the hair of a pink skinned lady. She was very beautiful, with pink hair but her face was slightly scarred, signs of a fight taking place being evident.

Her eyes were clouded with tears as she looked somewhere else in the room.

As she opened her mouth to say something, the White Gemaris cleaved her head off. She instantly shattered into pieces.

"Azalea!!!" Jenus screamed in agony as he forced his battered and bruised body towards her. Now, holding the broken body of the pink skinned woman in his arms, he weeped.

"Oh, Jenus, if you had agreed to join me I might have let you live," the White Gemaris almost sounded sad as she spoke. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

"No hard feelings okay?" She laughed maniacally before stabbing him in the heart causing him to shatter as well.

"In order for me to become the absolute ruler, all those who oppose me must die."

Aurianna woke up with a jolt, sweat covering her face.

She scanned her surroundings, realizing that she was in her private room back at the church.

She slipped out the bed, but as soon as both her feet touched the ground she fell with a thud.

’My knees feel weak,’ Aurianna thought as she struggled to get up, using most of her strength to reach a chair by her window sill. With great effort and grunting, she climbed onto the chair.

The Quartz that always took care of Aurianna flew to the window and opened it, letting a cool breeze enter the room.

Aurianna took in a deep breath before breathing out and the pained expression she wore since waking faded away, leaving her with a calm look.

The Quartz then flew directly in front of Aurianna’s face, having expectant eyes.

Aurianna smiled and used her hand to pat the Quartz who smiled happily.

Aurianna then turned to look out the window, staring at the two half moons illuminating the night sky.

She was thinking of Leila’s words before exiting the realm.

"I wonder what would happen if we both met face to face?" She muttered to herself, the Quartz tilting its head in confusion.

Aurianna looked at the Quartz noticing its confused demeanor causing her to release a giggle.

"That is not something you should be worrying about." She said reassuringly. "Is everyone in the church fine?"

The Quartz nodded adamantly as a response.

"I must find out who attacked me and my people. Once I do that, I will make them pay."

She wore a twisted grin now, faint black and red lines could be seen crawling up her neck but they quickly disappeared.

______________

In the Calvanot Empire, humans could be seen walking around, most wearing expensive clothing.

Beasts were pulling chariots, crossing the roads, adventurers exiting a guild building.

A few people walked out of brothels, as beautiful ladies and men waved seductively at their customers and passing citizens.

Gray was atop a building’s roof. Staring at a building across from it.

Two statues of Paige were at the front of their doors.

She glanced down from above, watching on as countless people passed the building, hardly giving it a look ever let alone bowing before it as they should’ve.

The sight made her stomach boil with rage.

Gray jumped off the building, landing softly.

A couple people jolted back, surprised by her sudden appearance but many just kept moving past her.

She started making her way towards the church building, opening the door.

She inspected the state of affairs.

The building was clean as usual but there were less than 10 people in the hall. They appeared very devout however, their eyes closed as their hands were clasped together attentively.

One word that came to Gray’s mind that could accurately describe the interior would’ve been vast.

There were enough rows of benches to fit at least 300 people so the fact there was little inside made the place seem overly prepared.

"It’s an honor for you to be here, dear Apostle," a handsome brown skin boy greeted. He looked at Gray with sparkling eyes, taking Gray’s attention away from the interior.

She didn’t respond to the pleasantries the boy offered. Simply staring at him coldly. Her face was full of displeasure.

"Ahem Apostles Miss, What brings you here if I may ask?"The boy asked, a slightly nervous expression on his face.

He could tell she was upset but wasn’t sure of the cause.

"Isn’t today the 7th day of the week?" Gray crossed her arms, a scrutinizing gaze in her eye, "All the people of this empire are supposed to gather and pray here daily."

"Well yeah, but lately there’s been little of that happening."

"And why is that?"

"Umm, Well, I’ve heard many saying that they aren’t in need of anything. That they have nothing to pray to Paige for then. They also said how Paige isn’t a god of nature so there is no need to fear her."

"I see and what are your thoughts?"

"If I should be honest, such people don’t deserve to live, after all the church and Paige has done so much for them yet they just abandon it like that . They don’t even bring gifts to Paige anymore," As the boy gave his opinion, he had an innocent expression.

She didn’t sense doubt or a lie in his voice or face. He truly believed what he’d said.

Gray had a content smirk after hearing his answer.

She stroked his head, "You are right. Anyone who turns their back to us after receiving our help pays the price."

The boy smiled at getting praised.

"Tell the head priest I came here. And everyone in the church shouldn’t leave no matter what and they should activate the Holy barrier around the church," Gray instructed.

"Yes ma’am, but I don’t know your name."

"You don’t know me even though you know that I’m an Apostle?" Gray asked, slightly surprised.

"Well I used to be in the slumps, however the Head Priest helped me and invited me to work in the church. He also told me about the hierarchy of the church as well as the insignia on your chest that identifies that you are an Apostle," The boys stated as he pointed to the badge on Gray’s chest.

It had a heart with a cross in the middle, with the silhouettes of one woman being on each side.

Gray smiled before ruffling his afro black hair.

"I spent 2 hours combing it!" the boy lightly swatted her hand away, whining in frustration.

"Lucas!?" A man called out frantically seeing him smack her hand away.

Lucas turned, his eyes brightening upon seeing the man. He called out, waving obliviously, "Head Priest Eric!" A wide smile was plastered on his face, as Eric dashed over to him in a hurry.
