Saving System: Calm Down, My Fleeing Host!-Chapter 159: Bloody Battle
The carriage continued to shuttle through the dark forest when suddenly, a sharp arrow with a whistling wind came from behind.
The man pulled out the Jade Hairpin from his head, gathering Inner Strength in his arm instantly, and threw it quickly towards the arrow, just in time to intercept it before it hit the carriage.
A group of men in black were in hot pursuit from behind, almost upon them. The man could only abandon the reins and leapt onto the roof of the carriage, blocking the incoming rain of swords.
Without anyone steering, the carriage gradually came to a stop. The man’s black eyes flickered with a dark gleam, meeting the dense crowd of people behind them.
The leader in black atop the tree gave a cold order, "Kill without mercy!"
The subordinates in black all charged in unison to besiege the carriage, but the man in front of the carriage fought against a hundred alone, and all assassins who got close to the carriage perished.
In just a quarter of an hour, he had slain more than twenty people.
The leader in black squinted slightly, with a ruthless glint in his eyes. It was no wonder he was the first disciple of Dugu Jian; his Swordsmanship was fierce and enigmatic, with every move aimed to kill.
One of the captains, seeing the dire situation, shouted angrily, "Form the formation!"
Immediately, the subordinates started moving with an eerie pace, their figures flickering, making it hard to discern their real positions and flaws. The man tried several times to break out of the encirclement but failed each time, accumulating multiple external injuries.
More and more blood-stained slashes appeared on his brocade clothes.
Amidst this tense situation, a clear, soothing female voice emerged from the carriage, "Left three Kan water, right four Gen mountain. Xun wind enters and benefits, Kun’s virtue is boundless."
Upon hearing the cue from his wife, the man grinned a bloodthirsty smile, his energy recharged, and swiftly moved as per the directions, soon breaking the assassins’ formation and charging out, then starting to take them down one by one.
The leader in black on the tree laughed heartily.
"What a Feng Siniang, who studies all the Five Elements and Eight Trigrams, Yin-Yang Feng Shui Arrays of the world, truly formidable."
He then leapt down, no longer watching but joining the fray.
With the leader in black joining in, the assassins’ morale soared. The situation they barely managed to salvage fell back into a fierce stalemate.
The leader in black was also a master of Dark Strength. Although his movement technique was not as fast as the man’s, his Sword Qi was solid, and Inner Strength was ample. Moreover, many assassin subordinates launched sneak attacks, and the man gradually lost strength, retreating steadily.
Seeing he was about to be exposed, the man gritted his teeth and recited an exquisite chant. His whole body surged with Inner Strength, and his Qi Force increased substantially.
The woman inside the carriage, sensing the change in Qi Force outside, shouted in horror, "Ming, don’t."
In her haste, she moved slightly sideways, which pulled at her wound, causing her to break out in cold sweat from the pain.
"Mother!"
The boy barely uttered a word before his mother covered his mouth.
She softly said, "Yan’er, be good, quickly hide under the carriage."
The boy shook his head; he did not want to leave his mother behind.
"Did Yan’er forget what mother told you?" Feng Siniang sternly said with a serious tone.
The boy was extremely aggrieved. Though he couldn’t see his mother’s expression, from the strength of her grip on his hand, he felt the sternness of her words.
He could only follow his mother’s instructions, quietly slipping under the carriage under the cover of darkness.
At this point, Gu Ming couldn’t care much. Even if his Martial Arts were completely crippled, what did it matter if he couldn’t protect his wife and child? What was the point of living?
Giving it his all, there might still be a glimmer of hope.
With his Martial Arts skyrocketing, the assassins fell one after another, their numbers dwindling.
The leader in black, blood-crazed, lashed out in anger. His deal cost him so many subordinates. Infuriated, he continuously attacked Gu Ming. Though Gu Ming was pressing him hard, he was unafraid. As long as he held on until the secret technique’s boost wore off, Gu Ming would be no threat.
Gu Ming was also anxiously aware that with time running out, he had not managed to eliminate everyone, foreseeing a dire outcome awaiting his family.
He fought with all his strength, slaughtering countless, until only the leader in black remained.
"Prepare to die!"
The leader in black, though covered in wounds, was in much better condition than Gu Ming. His ferocious Sword Qi rushed forward like a flood.
Using the last of his Inner Strength, Gu Ming charged forward, causing a chaotic windstorm and a scatter of leaves. In just a few breaths, hundreds of moves passed between them, too fast to leave anything but afterimages.
After a moment, there was a loud crash!
Gu Ming was slammed heavily onto the front of the carriage, barely alive, while the man in black staggered down, almost stumbling.
At this moment, his blood was surging, and his organs were damaged. To save face, he forcibly suppressed the blood rising in his throat and eagerly began to mock.
Ha ha ha!
"Gu, your life is mine."
Who would’ve thought, the illustrious Gu Ming would die at his hands, elevating him to fame.
Ha ha ha!
The leader in black raised his sword, ready to end Gu Ming with one strike, "Don’t!"
The feeble Feng Siniang, already half out of the carriage, saw the harrowing scene and reached out in desperation, wanting to do something, but she was powerless, having lost too much blood and utterly exhausted.
Staring blankly at her beloved lying motionless in a pool of blood, her heart was dead, yearning to follow him in death. Yet, as this thought arose, she heard a faint rustling under the carriage.
Frightened, she hastily used her body as a shield, gesturing for her son, who was about to rush out, to stop.
Woo woo woo!
"Ming, don’t die."
Feng Siniang sobbed to conceal her voice, using a small throat sound to warn her son.
Receiving his mother’s final command, Gu Yan was tearful.
His mother’s resolute words echoed continuously: "Even if both your father and mother are gone, you must not come out."
"If you disobey, you are no longer a son of Feng Siniang."
Not daring to make any moves, Gu Yan could only cover his own mouth tightly, stifling any sobs.
In despair, Feng Siniang, with tearful, sorrowful eyes, watched as the leader in black raised his long sword again.
The pain in her heart was immeasurable.
She could no longer hold on and fainted.
"Once Gu is dead, Feng Siniang will become my plaything."
Ha ha ha!
The man on the verge of death in the blood pool slightly moved his finger, a mix of despair and unwillingness.
Just as the long sword was about to fall, the man in black suddenly sensed a threat from above and looked up.
Without warning, a person dropped from the sky, descending like lightning, directly smashing into the leader in black. With his organs already ruptured, he was sat on and killed by Cheng Xiaoxiao.
Cheng Xiaoxiao, looking bewildered at the surroundings, was stunned—everywhere was filled with the dead.
Where were her task targets?
Where were the enemies?
She took out a large blade from her storage, warily scanning her surroundings.
The system sighed, "The enemy is under your butt, already dead from vomiting blood, completely lifeless. Your task target is to your right and is also about to die!"
"Oh! Oh!"
Cheng Xiaoxiao put away the large knife; she was quite adept at saving people!
Just then.
Suddenly, a sword with a cold gleam stabbed towards her from behind.
"Host, be careful..."
