Chapter 667: Getting spoilt like a princess

With a bounce to his step, Qie Xieling walked over to the pick-up point. He had his head lowered reading Bo Ailun’s complaints. His dear friend was upset because they didn’t invite him to have lunch. Qie Xieling knew what to do to appease him. He sent him a gift card for the pancake place inside campus. As expected, Bo Ailun was appeased.

"Young sir," a familiar voice called out and Qie Xieling raised his head. It was his father’s driver calling him.

Qie Xieling smiled as he walked over. "Sorry, I got distracted for a minute," he said before opening the door.

Inside, his father was sitting in the backseat, his posture rigid and his gaze fixed on something distant. Qie Xieling hesitated to get inside the car. That’s because the air felt heavy and charged with an unspoken tension. His father was obviously mad about something or at least upset.

He had to tread carefully not to step on landmines. "Father, what’s wrong? Who dared to offend you today?" he asked wondering who would be so stupid.

Qie Ranzhe’s eyes met his, a storm of emotions swirling within them, but he remained silent. Who was it that broke his rules on the very first day? He knew that if he asked him his son would try to lie to him even though he wasn’t good at it. Qie Xieling was easy to read like an open book. At least he could raid Luo Shih’s private collection as compensation. He didn’t reply. Instead, he motioned for the driver to start the car, and they pulled away from the campus.

The city blurred past as they drove in silence until Qie Ranzhe finally spoke. "I want to take you shopping," he said, his voice a little unnatural. "You know... before the wedding. Do you want to go or not?"

Qie Xieling, "..."

Yes, of course, he would love to go shopping with him. His father was the best person to go shopping with but it rarely happened. Qie Xieling excitedly nodded his head and began mentioning all the places where he wanted to go. Qie Ranzhe smiled slightly seeing that little boy that excitedly shook the car seat after telling him they were going shopping. How he missed those days. They do grow up fast.

Qie Xieling had no idea what his father was thinking. He was just excited to spend time with him.

The car stopped in front of an exclusive jewellery store, its windows displaying a world of glittering luxuriousness. Inside, Qie Ranzhe walked slowly behind his son who chose to walk around instead of sitting and letting the store manager bring their finest jewellery to them. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

"Pick what you want," he said, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.

Qie Xieling having been given a blank cheque he happily browsed the collections, his fingers lingering on a set of exquisite watches. Their craftsmanship were what one would describe as timeless elegance. He picked it up and showed his father. "What do you think? Do you like it?" Qie Ranzhe stretched out his hand to take a look. He liked it but he wasn’t satisfied with it. Naturally, he thought his son deserved the best.

"Let me see your private collection," he said and the shop assistants glanced at each other. By private collection, he meant the jewellery above the million-dollar threshold. This collection was in the vault on the lower floor and one had to confirm the client’s identity before going there.

The manager already knew Qie Ranzhe. He had been here five times before. Twice with his mother and three times with his husband. This was the first time the president brought over his son.

"Close the doors," said the store manager and the front doors were closed shut by the armed security standing outside blocking the doors.

Qie Xieling was a little confused. But when he left the elevator his eyes lit up. He was like a kid in a candy store. He was behaving like a dragon with a stash of shiny things.

His wandering eyes were suddenly drawn to the display where a pair of twin watches caught his attention.

His fingers brushed against the cool glass of the display case and with a knowing smile the store manager unlocked the cabinet and carefully lifted out the twin timepieces that had caught this young master’s eyes.

"Young sir has a good eye just like President Qie. There are only six pairs of this range in the world and one set of this particular colour," he said praising this pair of father and son. Qie Xieling indeed had a good eye. Their rose gold casing glinted under the soft lighting attracting one’s attention. The black dial understated their elegance but to those who had a good eye, they would appreciate them.

Qie Xieling’s gaze traced the outline of the black bezel, noting the rose gold numbers and markings. "I like these two. Can I get them?"

Qie Ranzhe picked the other one up and scrutinised it. It wasn’t as superior as what he thought he would choose but if this made him happy then why not.

Qie Xieling fastened the watch around his wrist, the weight of it was comfortable and it looked exquisite. "Can I get them engraved," he said and Qie Ranzhe was on board with it.

"Yes young sir and we can get them delivered to your house by the end of the day," replied the store manager.

Qie Xieling not only bought the pair of watches, jade waist pendants with red tassels and a scarlet ruby and diamond bracelet for his mother-in-law.

After satisfying his desire for shiny things his father asked him, "Are you sure you got everything you need? Don’t you want some earrings or maybe a hair crown? Your hair seems long enough for it." Qie Ranzhe wanted his baby boy to be the most handsome groom so naturally, he would splurge on him. Qie Xieling didn’t think he needed all that but under his father’s insistence, he bought a lot more.
