Chapter 444: Chapter 445 An Unimportant Person

Shen Tan couldn’t help but laugh when she heard this, realizing the little fellow was worried about money.

"It’s okay," she said, "Mom has money, Yanyan doesn’t need to worry for Mom."

The little one looked at her, and after seeming to confirm the truth of her words, the serious expression on his face eased. Then he looked at her earnestly and said, "When Yanyan grows up, I will work hard to earn money with Mom, so Mom won’t have to work so hard."

"Great! Mom will be waiting."

Shen Tan’s heart felt both sour and soft; although someone was detestable, they had left her two sweet little darlings.

Shen Tan decided to forgive the other party.

"Let’s go, let’s go home."

Taking one child in each hand, Shen Tan was about to head back to the apartment, but she stiffened upon seeing the figure approaching from the opposite side. The smile on her face visibly faded away.

Almost reflexively, she shielded the two little ones behind her.

"Mom?"

Seeing her stop suddenly, the little ones couldn’t help but look up at her with confusion.

"It’s nothing, let’s go!"

Shen Tan steadied her heart, thinking that she would be moving away soon and it was highly unlikely they would meet again. With this thought, she relaxed a little and once again started walking forward, taking the little ones by the hand.

After a few steps, Shen Tan’s hand was suddenly tugged by the little friend Shen Ning.

The little girl pointed in the direction of Jiang Yu and said crisply, "Mom, it’s the uncle from last time."

Despite having met him only once and half a month having passed, the little girl still remembered.

Shen Tan did not want Jiang Yu to notice the children at all. So when Shen Ning spoke up, she quickly blocked her view and picked her up from the ground, saying, "We should hurry home."

"Oh!" The little girl obediently responded but couldn’t help but look back in the direction of Jiang Yu.

Her little mouth continued to babble, "That uncle is really good-looking, like brother."

Hearing this, Shen Tan’s face changed dramatically, and she immediately scolded her, "Don’t talk nonsense." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

The little girl was taken aback by the scolding, pouting in aggrievement.

She wasn’t talking nonsense; brother’s eyes were clearly just like the uncle’s.

Shen Tan realized her tone was too harsh, and her emotions had gotten a bit out of control, so she softened her voice and said, "You saw wrong! Also, it’s not polite to stare at people all the time."

"I know, Mom!"

The little girl responded obediently while still surreptitiously sizing up Jiang Yu.

Jiang Yu also overheard the conversation between the mother and daughter.

The speaker may not have intended it, but the listener took it to heart.

His shock at the first meeting was even greater than Shen Tan’s. Only after Shen Tan mentioned the ages of the children did his expression change from shock to complexity.

But now, hearing the little girl’s words, his heart was once again heavily shaken, and he involuntarily let his gaze fall on the little boy next to him.

Shen Tan noticed his gaze and immediately pulled Shen Yan to one side, urging him, "Let’s go home quickly."

With one hand holding her daughter and the other pulling her son, she quickened her pace.

The little girl’s voice continued in her ear, "Mom, that uncle keeps looking at you."

"Mom, who is that uncle?"

Shen Tan: "Someone unimportant."

"Oh!" The little girl nodded, somewhat understanding but not quite.

Jiang Yu stood in place, watching the direction in which the trio had left, feeling an indescribable emotion, especially upon seeing the two children.

He could sense that Shen Tan did not want to see him, and even less did she want him to have much contact with the two children.

He didn’t know how long he stood there; only after the trio had completely disappeared from sight did he withdraw his gaze and opened his phone to make a call, saying, "Help me investigate something."
