Chapter 465: Chapter 466: Something Happened

Since Jiang Yu moved in next door, the two little ones spent most of their time eating over there.

Shen Tan didn’t enjoy cooking. Although she tried to learn after giving birth to the two children, the food she made was only barely edible.

By comparison, the kids preferred the meals made by Jiang Yu.

After they finished eating, they never forgot to bring a portion back for Shen Tan.

At first, Shen Tan was somewhat resistant, but she couldn’t deny how delicious the food was and gradually accepted it.

Later, to make things easier, Jiang Yu simply came over to cook for the three of them.

Perhaps because of the saying "the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach," Shen Tan’s attitude toward him softened from her initial firmness.

But there was no further progress between the two of them; they were more like meal companions.

With Jiang Yu helping to look after the children, Shen Tan focused more of her attention on her work.

Recently, the studio took on several big orders, and Shen Tan had to work overtime until very late every day.

In the morning, after breakfast, it was usually Jiang Yu who took the little ones to kindergarten.

He appeared to have a lot of free time, and it was unclear what he did all day. Yet, he clearly had an assistant who addressed him as Mr. Jiang.

Although curious, Shen Tan never asked him about it. With their current relationship, whatever he did seemed to have nothing to do with her.

Early one morning, just as Shen Tan stepped into the studio, the assistant hurried over and said, "Sister Shen Tan, there’s trouble."

"What’s wrong?"

"The client just canceled the order for that custom gown, and they’re demanding compensation," the assistant said anxiously.

"Canceled? Why?" Shen Tan stopped in her tracks and looked at her, "Didn’t we already deliver the gown?"

The assistant looked troubled and said, "They claim our gown involves plagiarism. They said they wanted a unique design, and now they’ve seen a similar one elsewhere. They’re accusing us of intentionally trying to sabotage them."

Shen Tan’s studio was a private image customization studio, including the creation of custom gowns and jewelry. They catered to a high-end market, collaborated with renowned designers, and serviced the wealthy.

Of course, both the gowns and jewelry came with hefty price tags.

Easily hundreds of thousands, if not more.

This client was a small star, new to the industry, who had recently played a role that unexpectedly became a huge hit.

In a few days, she was to attend an awards ceremony.

As a newcomer, she couldn’t secure sponsorship from well-known brands but still hoped her red carpet look would dazzle, so she found her way to Shen Tan’s studio.

She heard many wealthy people and small stars customized their gowns there, so she ordered one for two hundred thousand.

The client had only one requirement: it had to be good-looking and unique.

In the world of celebrities, being accused of plagiarizing a gown can lead to a lifetime of infamy and easily spark controversy.

Upon hearing the gown was suspected of plagiarism, Shen Tan immediately said, "Impossible." She had personally been involved in the design; plagiarism was out of the question.

"I remember Zhang Jingjing was in charge of this gown; where is she? Call her over." Since it was a custom order, every step, from design to creation, was under the responsibility of one individual to prevent the designs from leaking.

The assistant’s expression suddenly became troubled and said, "She, she resigned!"

"Resigned?" Shen Tan lifted her head to look at her, "I recall the company policy stating an employee must submit a resignation request a month in advance. Call her and tell her to come to work immediately."

"I’ve tried, but she’s not picking up."

Shen Tan didn’t need any further clarification; she had been set up.

This incident was most likely intertwined with Zhang Jingjing’s resignation.
