Chapter 251: Chapter 251 : The Unwanted Fourth Wheel

It took almost two weeks before Song Xiaoling dared to accept Yan Renzhong’s call.

To save her some dignity, Yan Renzhong had the good sense of retreating to a secluded corner before he hit her with a round of scolding.

"Just what were you thinking?" He snapped.

"Well, I thought he was cheating on you!" Song Xiaoling cried out in defense. "I did it for you!"

"My relationship with Shen Jingwei is none of your business. Even if you catch him cheating on me, the best course of action would be notifying me instead of splashing a cup of hot water at his face!"

"It was not hot water, it was warm water," Song Xiaoling muttered.

"Really? Are you trying to win the argument based on the temperature of the water?"

"Okay, I am sorry. I am sorry! Are you happy now?"

Yan Renzhong scoffed.

"Far from that. You owe Shen Jingwei an apology, and I insist that you apologize to him in person."

Song Xiaoling ground her teeth. She expected that, but hearing it come from Yan Renzhong’s mouth unexpectedly still gave her immense pain.

"Fine," she growled. "I will kowtow in front of him. Happy?"

At that time, although the shooting for the second season of "Dance Of The Dragons" already ended, both of them were quite busy with other activities.

After collaborating with Yan Renzhong once in a hit song, Shen Jingwei’s name as a singer began to rise.

He began receiving more offers to collaborate, but Shen Jingwei did not dare to accept any for the time being.

Since he was still not very confidence about his vocal performance, so Zhu Dongyi, with the fiery determination, made him take one singing class after another.

In the end, Shen Jingwei and Yan Renzhong agreed to meet up with Song Xiaoling right before the filming for the third season of "Dance Of The Dragons" commenced.

That day happened to be Song Yaya’s birthday, and they planned to take her to Heyday Aqualand, an amusement park that opened just several weeks ago. frёewebηovel.cѳm

As always, Song Yaya was happy to see her Papa.

"Papa!" She cried out as soon as she caught sight of Yan Renzhong.

"Hello, my sweetheart."

The latter picked her up and cuddled her close, prompting the little girl to break into a fit of laughter.

It had been a while since Shen Jingwei met Song Yaya again. He leaned closer to the little girl and asked with a smile, "Hello, Yaya, do you still remember me?"

Song Yaya gave Shen Jingwei a conflicted look before she looked away and buried his face in Yan Renzhong’s shoulder.

"So shy?" Yan Renzhong poked at his half-sister’s back.

"Why aren’t you saying hello?"

"Hello, Uncle," Song Yaya mumbled, still not looking Shen Jingwei in the face.

"Yaya, I taught you better than that," Yan Renzhong said with a frown.

"It’s alright," Shen Jingwei intervened. "She’s just a little girl. Maybe she forgot all about me because we haven’t seen each other for so long."

The problem did not lie with Song Yaya. It lay with Song Xiaoling.

Standing some distance apart with her arms crossed tightly before her chest, Song Xiaoling looked like she just swallowed a mouthful of nails.

"I am sorry for splashing warm water at your face the last time we met," she ground out, not without shooting Yan Renzhong a devastating glare. "It was all my fault, please forgive me."

Shen Jingwei had heard more sincere apologies, but he was not the kind of person who would dwell on trivial matters.

"Thank you for apologizing," he replied curtly.

Song Xiaoling snorted.

"Now that we are all happy, can we go and celebrate Yaya’s birthday?"

In response, Song Yaya cried out in delight.

"Birthday!"

"Yes, it’s your birthday."

Yan Renzhong planted a kiss on Song Yaya’s forehead.

"Do you want to see the dolphins?"

"Yeah!!!"

Song Yaya wriggled in Yan Renzhong’s embrace.

"Papa, down!"

Yan Renzhong let her down, and she quickly held onto Yan Renzhong’s hand. Her other hand was offered to Song Xiaoling.

While Song Xiaoling took the little girl’s offered hand with a smug smile on her lips, Shen Jingwei could not help but feel like an unwanted fourth wheel.

Until Yan Renzhong turned to look at him and extended his free hand in Shen Jingwei’s direction.

"Jingbao, come."

Shen Jingwei gingerly took Yan Renzhong’s hand.

It felt warm and reassuring around his own.

When Yan Renzhong joined the Shen family for dinner or any other activity, the Shen family offered him far more than just warm welcome.

Shen Dou Dou even insisted on referring to Yan Renzhong as her brother-in-law.

Unfortunately, Shen Jingwei was unable to enjoy similar treatment from the Songs.

In fact, the Song sisters practically ignored him.

Once the half-hearted apology was delivered, his presence was rather unwanted.

Shen Jingwei was not the kind of person who liked to seek attention. It was Song Yaya’s birthday, so they all must coddle her and do what made her happy.

If it meant that Shen Jingwei had to trail along with them in silence, then so be it.

The only interaction he got was from Yan Renzhong, who did his best to give his attention to three people at once.

Shen Jingwei was not sure whom to feel sorry for, himself or Yan Renzhong.

After they left the aquatic zoo, they headed to the water park.

It had a lot of cute photo spots alongside snack stalls, both with long waiting lines in front of them.

Song Yaya’s big eyes kept drifting between the tempting glazed apple stall and the fountain blast area.

It was obvious that she wanted both, but they couldn’t stand in both lines at the same time.

Taking the initiative, Shen Jingwei spoke up, "The line for the fountain blast is longer. Why don’t I stand there while you all go queueing for glazed apples?"
