Chapter 1739 Chapter 1739. Taken the Bait

?The battle at the wall continued to heat up. The guilds on the Liguritudum's side were forced to summon their guild armies to help defend the wall. They were left with no choice after two parts of the wall were broken.

The Allied forces, on the other hand, hadn't yet summoned their guild armies. They had more than enough soldiers to fight the enemies. Summoning more soldiers wouldn't be effective. Once their soldiers entered the capital, they would summon the guild armies. There would be enough space for the guild armies to maneuver then.

On the side where World Ruler was defending the battlement, Wilted's team was still battling Mistress' team. Mistress had retreated and was behind her guild members' protection. Paytowin, Anotherday, and Joe chased after her.

More of the Allied forces climbed onto the battlement at that side and helped Wilted's people. Some of the reinforcements were members of Wicked Witches and White Scarfs.

While they were fighting, Jack came crashing into one of World Ruler's assassins who was about to backstab Wilted, killing the assassin in the process.

"Thank you," Wilted said to Jack. She glanced at the other Jack battling Master in the sky and added, "I'm grateful you sent your clone to help, but we got it covered here. You should help the other place."

"I'm not here to aid you. I'm here to ask for your aid, and I'm not a clone. I'm the real one," Jack said.

"Huh? Why do you have your clone fight Master?" Wilted asked.

"Don't worry. I've no problem controlling my clone as well as my real self," Jack said.

"What do you need my aid for?"

"Not exactly you. I need help from that friend of yours who has the illusionist special class," Jack answered. He then pointed at Dritzuut's palace. "I want to infiltrate the capital without being noticed."

Wilted glanced at the palace. She asked, "Why do you need her? Didn't your country have special units who are also illusionists?"

"Unfortunately, my country's illusionists are all down there acting as supports. They are not exactly durable units. It's too risky having them climb up this battlement. If your friend is not available, then I will go find one of my illusionists down there, but it will be easier for me to infiltrate the capital from here."

"Wait. I'll check her location," Wilted said.

While she was sending messages, a commotion was heard nearby. Jack turned and saw White Scarfs members chasing a World Ruler member who was an Elementalist. This enemy Elementalist just ran through everyone like he was a ghost.

Jack then noticed two other identical Elementalists not far away. One was also running around while the third one was casting spells. White Scarfs melee fighters managed to get close to the one who was casting spells, but when they swung their weapons at him, the weapons just passed through him. The Elementalist gave them a ridiculing laugh while it was happening.

The first ghostly Elementalist Jack noticed stopped running and was now casting spells at the White Scarfs members who were being laughed at.

"That is the body Double spell," Peniel said.

Jack nodded. He also recognized his old spell. "It will be difficult to hit that Elementalist until we force him to use up his switch count."

One of the Elementalist's copies was running past nearby them.

"My friend is on her way here. While waiting, help me stop those copies using this," Wilted gave Jack two runic ropes.

"Huh?" Jack didn't understand.

"You are fast. You should be able to capture those two in no time," Wilted said.

"But won't a runic rope just go through those copies?" Jack asked.

Wilted looked at Jack with a weird expression. "Didn't I use this runic rope on your copies in the past? My partner and I set it so the spell is susceptible to runic rope. Otherwise, it is too powerful for a low-level spell."

"Oh…," Jack realized that he never thought about it when it happened in the past.

He took the runic ropes and dashed ahead. The Elementalist was shocked when his copy noticed Jack coming. He knew who Jack was. However, that shocked expression on his face was soon replaced by a smug smile. No matter how strong Jack was, the one facing Jack was just a copy. Jack wouldn't be able to hurt him. But as soon as the runic rope in Jack's hands touched his copy, his smug expression returned to a shocked one.

"Ho… How…?" He asked.

Jack didn't bother explaining. He shot in another direction where the Elementalist's second copy was. In a short time, the second copy was also tied up.

The Elementalist no longer had a copy to switch to. His true self panicked and tried to run, but White Scarfs members caught up to him. They released their pent-up frustration from being laughed at earlier by beating the Elementalist up using their bare hands. Only after they were satisfied that they killed him.

When Jack returned to Wilted, a woman with the alias Hollow Girl was beside her. She was an ethereal and she had the Illusionist class. Jack was acquainted with this woman when Jack brought Wilted's team into the mobile fortress.

"Hello, Hollow," Jack greeted.

"Hello. Wilted said you need me?" Hollow Girl asked.

"Yes. Is your Illusion Copy on cooldown?" Jack asked in return.

"No. Do you need me to cast that spell on something?"

"Yes. On me," Jack answered.

Hollow Girl didn't bother asking why Jack needed the copy. She cast the spell. A copy of Jack appeared.

"Okay. Just position my copy slightly at the back line. Make him pretend to cast spells," Jack instructed Hollow Girl.

"All right," Hollow Girl answered.

Hollow Girl might not be curious about the reason Jack needed her spell, but Wilted did. She asked Jack, "Why do you need the copy?"

"When all my clones disappear, the enemies will get suspicious if they can't find me. This copy will fool them while I do my things."

"Do what things?"

"Save my friends," Jack answered. He then cast a spell and vanished.

Wilted recognized the spell formation Jack formed was the invisibility spell. Wilted looked at the palace. "Good luck," she said.

Jack thought that the enemy would only pay attention later when he was gone. He didn't know that due to Master's instruction, there were always people paying attention to him and his clone's every move.

In the sky, Jack's superior acceleration had ended, and so did Master's Wind God Rage. Master kept his distance from Jack and used the Divine Earth Titan as cover until Jack's Lightning God Incarnation ended. Jack was now using gold dragon wings to stay in the air while Master used her demon wings.

While Master continued firing his spells under the protection of the divine earth titan, he received a message from Motherboard.

"My Lord, one of the world ruler's members reported that they saw someone use the Illusion Copy on one of Storm Wind's clones before that clone disappeared."

Master smiled upon hearing. "Clone? Hehe. I doubt that. Very good. This means he had taken the bait. Tell Ronald and Sizhad to not hinder him."

Jack saw that Master was distracted, so he stole an opportunity to approach and used his sword art. Master's celestial shields which revolved around him automatically blocked Jack's attack, but they couldn't block all. One slash hit Master and he was sent plunging into the ground below.

"Huh?" Jack was flabbergasted by the effect of his slash. 'He can't be that weak my normal slash sends him flying. I'm not even using Flame Strike,' he thought.

Jack didn't have much time to think because the divine earth titan's hand came at him again. Jack hurriedly flew away to dodge the giant slap.

The divine earth titan had been placing its colossal frame in front of the gap in the wall. It was to limit the enemies that wanted to breach the capital. The place where Master had fallen was the swarm of zombies who were also blocking the gap. Jack lost sight of Master among those zombies, but Master soon flew back up.

Master was smiling despite getting smacked by Jack to the ground. Jack didn't think too much about that smile at the time.
