Secretly Married to the Ice-Cold CEO-Chapter 480: Without Distinguishing Right from Wrong
An Junxi didn’t call Gu Yikun again. When her daughter woke up, she took her daughter home.
Nanny He asked, "Does the young master know Ai Xi is not feeling well?"
"He’s very busy, I didn’t tell him."
Nanny He kept apologizing. An Junxi was too tired to argue, "Nanny He, you can’t handle so much on your own. Let’s not talk about this anymore. Just make sure it doesn’t happen again in the future."
Most of the blame should be placed on Gu Qianlan.
Nanny He was still feeling guilty. Looking at Ai Xi lying listlessly on the bed, with no smile on her little face, she felt so bad that she couldn’t eat or drink.
She didn’t dare to cry in front of An Junxi and hid to suppress her tears.
An Junxi sat dazedly by her daughter’s bedside, her eyes vacant and utterly exhausted.
Recently, there were too many things going on. Her parents were not in Yan City, and she had to bear the brunt of public pressure alone. She had nowhere to vent her grievances, and even her closest husband couldn’t understand her situation, not even willing to answer her calls.
She was suffocated by it all, wanting desperately to escape, to leave everything behind.
If the man she loved was an ordinary person, life could probably be peaceful and undisturbed, right?
What good was such a powerful husband when he wasn’t there when she needed him... An Junxi’s heart grew cold. Gu Yikun, is your love for me really so fragile that it can’t withstand a single rumor?
Gu Jinxiu came home from school and saw his sister was sick. He was very worried about her and comforted their mother, "I’ll take care of my sister. Mommy, do you want to sleep for a while? You look very tired."
Looking at this smaller version of Gu Yikun, An Junxi thought Jinxiu was much better than his father.
"Jinxiu, thank you." She didn’t want her child to think his mother was too weak. "Mommy can take care of your sister. You go finish your homework, okay?"
"I’ve finished my homework. It was very simple."
An Junxi said, "Then go to your room and read for a while. Your sister ate too much ice cream and feels very uncomfortable. She’ll be okay after some sleep."
Gu Jinxiu went out and asked Nanny He, "My sister can’t get ice cream by herself. Who gave it to her?"
Nanny He looked at the eldest daughter, full of anger but dared not speak.
Gu Qianlan refused to admit her mistake, "I just gave Ai Xi a little. She wanted more herself."
Gu Jinxiu scolded his aunt, "My sister is too young to understand, but you’re an adult, shouldn’t you know better? I know not to give her too much ice cream. Have you ever tested your IQ?"
Gu Qianlan picked up Gu Jinxiu, "Jinxiu! I’m your elder, and you talk to me like this? Is this what An Junxi taught you?"
Gu Jinxiu bit his aunt on the arm, making her let go from the pain. He pushed her to the ground, "Auntie, you’re so ignorant. I’m going to tell Grandma!"
He ran upstairs to make a phone call. When Liang Huiyun and Gu Kuangyong heard their little granddaughter had been to the hospital, they rushed over.
An Junxi had no choice but to deal with the two elders. She asked Nanny He to stay in the children’s room and sat in the living room to explain, "The doctor said she just needs a few days of good care for her stomach."
Liang Huiyun, feeling heartbroken, said to An Junxi, "You’re the mother, and you can’t even take care of a child? The gossip is annoying enough, and now you’re making a mess at home!"
Liang Huiyun always treated her granddaughter like a treasure, always smiling and her eyes shining like stars. Now seeing her with no energy, she got so anxious that she spoke without thinking, with a bit of sharpness.
Gu Kuangyong was also worried about his granddaughter, but he was more calm and didn’t want things to become more complicated. Hearing his wife’s sharp words, he stopped her, "How can you talk like this? Is it all her fault?"
An Junxi, already exhausted, heard her mother-in-law’s indiscriminate criticism, and her anger flared up, "Mother, do you even know the source of the problem? Why do you always blame me for what Gu Qianlan does wrong? I said she was welcome to come visit anytime, but she insisted on moving in and causing trouble all the time. I haven’t blamed her, and yet you blame me?"
She didn’t use any honorifics, venting all her anger regardless. If she kept holding it in, she would go crazy!
Liang Huiyun, a proud person, knew she had spoken out of line but was unwilling to back down after being rebuked by her daughter-in-law, "How can you be a good sister-in-law if you can’t get along with your sister-in-law? It takes two to tango. No matter how wrong Qianlan is, you need to be accommodating!"
An Junxi smashed the cup, "I didn’t marry into this family to be mistreated. Just because Gu Qianlan comes from a noble background, does that mean I deserve to be bullied by her?"
Gu Yikun came home and heard the arguing as soon as he walked in the door.
He pressed his temples, couldn’t the house be quiet for once?
Gu Qianlan, seeing her brother at the door, pretended to be aggrieved, "Brother let me live here. It’s not just you who gets to decide everything. My brother accommodates you in everything, and you can’t even tolerate me?"
An Junxi raised her hand to slap her in that fake face, "Yes, I can’t tolerate you. Get out, the farther the better!"
Gu Qianlan didn’t dodge and took An Junxi’s slap head-on. She threw herself into her parents’ arms, crying, "Mom, Dad, look at sister-in-law... she’s too bullying!"
Liang Huiyun’s face turned blue with anger, "An Junxi, we aren’t even dead, and you dare to bully Qianlan. You woman... Yikun shouldn’t have married you!"
An Junxi retorted, "I shouldn’t have married at all!"
"Enough!" 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Gu Yikun’s stern shout silenced the room immediately, the oppressive air making the living room as quiet as a still pond.
An Junxi turned. When did he come back?
Gu Yikun walked in with a grim expression, "Everyone who should go home should go home. I don’t want to hear any more arguing."
Gu Qianlan covered her slapped-red face, "I want to stay here. I’m not going back."
Liang Huiyun said to her son, "Yikun, Junxi hit Qianlan. How do you plan to address this?"
Gu Yikun said to An Junxi, "Go upstairs first."
An Junxi refused, "Why should I go upstairs? Did I do something wrong?"
Gu Yikun looked impatient, "Just go upstairs."
Gu Qianlan, standing behind her brother, showed her the middle finger and mouthed, "Serves you right."
An Junxi, infuriated to the point of blankness, bypassed Gu Yikun to continue hitting her, "Gu Qianlan, get out of our house!"
Gu Qianlan hid behind her brother’s back, "Brother, she’s hitting me again. Sob sob..."
Gu Yikun grabbed An Junxi’s wrist, "An Junxi, I considered you disrespecting Mom and Dad as you being in a bad mood, but you keep trying to drive Qianlan away. Why can’t you tolerate her staying here? She’s my sister!"
His tone was severe, and there was even a trace of... disgust in his eyes.
An icy wind blew through An Junxi’s heart. Her fingers trembled, "Gu Yikun, you’re tired of me now. You think you married a shrew, don’t you?"
Gu Yikun avoided her eyes, "I didn’t say that. Don’t overthink it."
An Junxi laughed at herself. She once thought he was her world, but she forgot there can be changes in the weather.
How foolish. There’s no one you can rely on for a lifetime in this world, only yourself.
