Secretly Mine-Chapter 164: L.L. Lewis
Chapter 164: L.L. Lewis
"This is the work of L.L. Lewis!" I suddenly said, standing up in surprise.
Lucas didn’t answer me, only smiled brightly.
"Oh, speaking of which, how did you manage to convince my parents that I would be apprenticing under L.L. Lewis? Don’t tell me you actually know him?" I asked, with a sudden understanding.
Lucas let out a soft chuckle. He casually leaned against the doorway and looked at me with an amused yet gentle gaze. "You could say that."
I felt the rush of excitement as I looked back at him, "Really? You actually know THE L.L. Lewis?!" I took a step forward, looking at Lucas with sparkling eyes. "No one’s seen his face before. He always works through a middleman. Could you tell me something about him? Anything! I’ve been a fan ever since I was introduced to his works, it’s just that he’s so mysterious...."
"Sure, I know him quite well," smiled Lucas. "Let’s see...likes nature and taking walks, he enjoys bright and sunny spaces...Oh! And he really likes coffee, real coffee, not that instant stuff..."
My eyes glimmered as I listened to his words, remembering every detail. As he continued to explain, my mind began to paint a mental image that suddenly made my eyes widen with shock.
"Lucas....do you mean that you’re L.L. Lewis?" I asked in a whisper.
There’s no way, right? Lucas is an engineer and business owner. There’s no way he has time to paint to the degree of L.L. Lewis, who is known in the art community as the master of our generation...
"Bingo!" he said with a wide grin.
"What?! How!? That’s...that’s so incredible!" My words stuttered due to how flustered I was. I never imagined that my secret idol was actually the golden-haired man standing in front of me.
"Haha," Lucas finally broke out into a soft chuckle. "See, I didn’t lie to your parents, you’re the first and most likely only apprentice I’ll ever have."
My body stiffened. "No, please don’t say that! I’m nowhere near talented enough to become your apprentice! Please, consider someone else!"
To think that I came here with the intention of giving Lucas pointers...
"Come on now, don’t be so hard on yourself. I wasn’t lying when I told your parents that you had a good eye. With some practice, I think you can easily become a wonderful painter, better than I," he said gently.
"No way! I could never be better than you!" I shook my hands, unwilling to believe that I could ever come close to his skill level.
He took a step forward and gently placed his hand on my arm, "Come now, we’ll never find out if we only talk about it. Let’s paint."
The warmth from his hand matched the warmth in his eyes. Though I still felt nervous being in the presence of such a skilled master, I nodded my head.
"Painting is a messy process. Do you need me to bring you a change of clothes? I wouldn’t want you getting such a pretty outfit dirty."
Oh, that’s right. I did bring a change of clothes!
"I brought some! Let me just change quickly," I said, lifting my large tote bag.
Lucas nodded, "Come, I’ll bring you to a guest room so that you can change. I’ll also go and change."
He led me back down the hall and opened one of the side doors. "Here, this is one of the guest rooms. Let me know if you need anything else; I’ll be right down the hall."
I thanked him and opened my tote bag to pull out the change of clothes I prepared, only to discover that I forgot to bring a shirt.
Since it was still warm out, I prepared a pair of shorts and a t-shirt, or so I thought, but even after dumping the contents of my bag on the bed, I couldn’t find the t-shirt anywhere.
Well, this is awkward. I can’t just wear shorts with my blouse, right? Should I ask Lucas for a t-shirt?
I thought about my options for a moment and decided that asking Lucas for a t-shirt would be the best course of action. Poking my head out into the hallway, I glanced down the hall to where Lucas said his room was.
A soft blush crept up on my face as I walked over to his bedroom door. I pushed down the embarrassment and knocked on his door.
The next moment, the door opened. Lucas stood shirtless, looking at me with curiosity. "Is something wrong?" he asked with concern.
"No, no. It’s just that I realized I forgot to bring a shirt...I was wondering if you had a spare t-shirt I could wear?"
"Oh, of course, come in, I’ll find one for you," he said and quickly turned around.
I took one step forward, entering his bedroom. My eyes quickly wandered around the room to satisfy my curiosity. His room was like much of the rest of the house, bright, sunny, airy, and most of all, peaceful. A large king-sized bed stood in the middle of the room, topped with linen bedding.
Behind the headboard was a huge, floor-to-ceiling window that allowed the sun to filter in. There were two large plants that reminded me of small palm trees on either side of the bed.
Lucas walked out of a small room that I assumed was his closet, holding a white t-shirt. He was still shirtless, showing off his muscular chest and broad shoulders. freeweɓnovel~cѳm
"Here, try this one. It might be a little big for you, but it should work," he said, smiling.
"Thank you," I replied, accepting the neatly folded shirt from his hands. "I’ll go change."
Before he had a chance to reply, I scurried off back to the guest room. Seeing Lucas shirtless reminded me of the quick peek I had of him in the shower, causing me to get all flustered.
Calm down, Leslie. It’s not like he was purposely naked in front of you...
I scolded myself as I changed into my shorts. After taking off my blouse, I put on the t-shirt that Lucas gave me. It was only once it was on me that I realized that it was one of his t-shirts. Even though it was clean, his scent still lingered, enveloping me like a cloud.
The shirt was so big that it looked like a small dress, covering the shorts entirely. I looked at my reflection in one of the mirrors in the guest room and laughed.
It looks like I’m not wearing any pants.
