Chapter 67: A Dreadful Vision; Skills Galore!

Drai was floating in space amidst countless stars and galaxies. He was momentarily dazed due to the sudden change of scenery.

After recovering from his stupor, Drai tried moving his body but was unable to, so he quickly gave up, realizing that he was likely a mere observer in this scene.

After all, it wasn’t the first time that Drai had experienced this strange event. His mind recalled a similar occurrence right after he went through his awakening.

’Is this another vision? A memory?’

As Drai pondered over this matter, dozens of white dots suddenly emerged from the darkness of space far ahead of him.

The white dots rapidly grew larger, and soon Drai could finally see them clearly.

These dots were actually dozens of humanoids who were enveloped in white auras. These people were speeding through space, clad in white garments and suits.

This group consisted of both men and women with white hair who mostly looked rather young; only a few of them seemed to be middle aged and none of them were elderly.

Leading the group was a figure that was pretty familiar to Drai.

’Titans!’ Drai silently exclaimed as he figured out the identity of these people.

As the group came closer, their faces suddenly turned grave.

Noticing the change, Drai glanced around to see if anything had happened, but he couldn’t spot anything different.

It seemed like the titans were communicating with each other as their mouths were moving, but Drai couldn’t hear anything.

To Drai’s surprise, the few middle-aged looking titans suddenly stopped in their tracks and turned around. They quickly separated, creating a large distance between each other.

Meanwhile, the rest of the group sped up, leaving these titans behind as they passed by Drai.

Drai tried calling the familiar titan, albeit soundlessly, but the titan didn’t seem to notice Drai and soon left the vicinity with his group.

’Is this not the titan bro’s memories?’ Drai asked to himself, a bit perplexed.

Before Drai could mull over the matter any further, his attention was drawn ahead, for the titans who had stayed behind began to increase in size. Shortly after, a few humanoid mountains were floating in space before Drai’s eyes.

’So imposing!’ Drai inwardly exclaimed as he set his sight on the gigantic bodies of the titans.

Drai then looked past the titans, trying to spot anything. He was guessing that these titans had stayed behind in order to confront something, perhaps a pursuer of some sort.

However, no matter how much Drai squinted his eyes, he couldn’t see anything resembling an enemy.

Just as Drai was wondering if his guess was wrong, he suddenly realized that a cluster of stars beyond the titans had just disappeared.

The dark spot where nothing could be seen rapidly grew larger until it was even bigger than the collective size of the titans.

As this was happening, the titans surged with power as their white aura soared. They immediately charged toward the darkness ahead of them, brimming with might.

While he was watching the scene unfold, Drai couldn’t help but be reminded of a similar scene where his titan bro destroyed a planet with only one punch.

’This power... Overwhelming!’ Drai exclaimed while a mixture of astonishment, fear, and longing swelled inside him.

Suddenly, an expansive torrent of darkness spread in an instant and quickly enveloped the titans. The mountainous white lights clashed against the dark tide, creating sparks and explosions all over the vast space.

Drai couldn’t see things clearly as the clash was too far from him. But he would soon come to realize which side had the upper hand.

As the clash unfolded, large blobs of white light started shooting out from the epicenter of the clash.

One of those lights flew by near Drai, and his eyes instantly widened in horror upon realizing that it was actually one of the titans’ mangled head. Drai spontaneously screamed, but no sound was coming out of his mouth.

Seconds passed by and more white blobs were shooting out from the turbulent darkness, scattering across space.

The clash had ended as quickly as it started, and all the titans that had stayed behind were now scattered in pieces, becoming space debris.

If Drai could move, he would have fled already, for he had been feeling a sense of dread that was much more suffocating than the one he had felt when he first witnessed a titan’s strength.

The enigmatic storm of darkness quickly furled before continuing on its way, becoming larger and larger in Drai’s vision until all the stars ahead of him couldn’t be seen anymore.

While Drai was staring in trepidation at the looming entity that had easily slaughtered the small group of titans, the surroundings suddenly blurred and Drai’s vision went black.

Gasp!

Drai panted heavily as he woke up from his trance, covered in sweat. He looked around briefly before he was finally able to recall his situation prior to the vision.

"Boy!" Ravi shouted as he rushed to Drai, immediately checking his condition.

"What happened, Professor?" Drai asked while Ravi was pulling his right eye apart, checking his pupils. He noticed that the professor was looking quite distressed.

Ravi didn’t immediately answer but continued examining Drai. Shortly after, he ran back to his workstation and inspected the readings on the screens.

It was only a few minutes later that Ravi finally breathed a sigh of relief before replying, "You almost gave me a heart attack, boy! I thought you were a goner!"

"Did I pass out?" Drai asked, recalling the moments before his consciousness was transported into the earlier scene.

"Not only did you lose consciousness, but your brain was also overclocking so much that it should’ve been fried already. But somehow it was able to returned to normal, seemingly without any complications too. Honestly, I don’t have a clue what just happened here."

Ravi’s eyes were glued to his screens, trying to solve the mystery. So far, the only noticeable variables that he could spot were the increase in Drai’s physical parameters and the shift in Drai’s neuronal activity patterns, which weren’t that strange considering that Drai had just undergone a highly transformational procedure.

Seeing that the professor was still busy with his data, Drai decided not to press further. He figured Ravi would share the details later after he was done.

Drai then recalled the dreadful vision from before. He replayed the scene in his head and shivered upon picturing the terrifying darkness that seemed to have emerged from nothingness, butchering the titans as if they were merely livestock.

’Is that the enemy that I must face at the end of this road? What is that thing even? It doesn’t look like a living creature...’

Drai pondered over this briefly before putting it aside for now. He concluded that there was no use thinking about the unknown enemy and the fate of the rest of the titans. He was just a seed who couldn’t compare to the proper titans, let alone the mysterious being that had culled them with ease.

’Whatever that terrible thing is, I hope it never comes to Gaia.’

After putting aside the matter, Drai’s worry was lifted a bit.

Having nothing to do for now, Drai decided to check out his status. He was curious to see if there were any changes after his procedure.

’Open status window.’

Seeing the string of notifications, Drai’s eyes gleamed in anticipation.

Drai’s eyes widened in shock.

’What?! I leveled up again?! And I can access more skills now?!’

Drai rubbed his eyes as he couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Drai had to reread the whole thing several more times until he finally accepted the results.

’What’s with this crazy leveling rate? Shit, I should probably keep this a secret from Jian...’ Drai thought as he pictured Jian wreaking havoc due to his bafflement of Drai’s unreasonable progress.

Drai then switched to his skill page.

Drai trembled as he stared at the numerous skills that just became available to him.

"What’s the problem, Drai?" Ravi asked from his workstation upon hearing Drai’s loud remark.

"Professor! Your procedure is a success!" Drai said excitedly.

"Of course it should be, seeing as you’re not brain dead," Ravi flatly replied. He was still immersed in his investigation and was currently running several simulations.

"I mean it’s not just a success, Professor—it’s too fucking successful!"

Drai was so excited that he didn’t care about using expletives in front of the professor.

Hearing Drai’s vulgar exhilaration, Ravi couldn’t help but raise his head.

"What do you mean by ’too fucking successful’, boy? Did you raise your stats a lot compared to the initial testing?"

"Yes, but not just that! I also leveled up and the skill restrictions on my class is gone!"

"Skill restrictions? What’s that?" Ravi asked as he eyed Drai curiously.

"Oh... shit."

Drai had completely forgotten that Ravi didn’t know much about his class other than its general strengths and stat distribution.
